Sumner speaks. Rather cringes.

Reacting to the document scandal at CBS News, Sumner M. Redstone, chairman and chief executive of Viacom (nyse: VIAb – news – people ), CBS’ parent, vowed that the results of a recently announced probe would be “appropriate–and the consequences will be appropriate.” [bold mine as a public service to stockholders]

What would be appropriate for Gunga Dan?

Being made to spend election night describing the landslide victory of Dubya over Kerry and then being retired to Texas.

I’ve read another story linked from Drudge that the affiliates are hopping mad. Can the affiliates leave CBS? Maybe they could form their own network, or join Fox?

ras: I wish it were as simple, but NRO is reporting now that the 60 Minutes II website had the memo info up hours before the broadcast, and McAullife could have gotten from there.

    Dan Rather, watch this:

rasThanks for the link, but it has since been updated. The smoking gun is not, and the timeline has been corrected. If any of you read this earlier, please read it again to get the update.

See Dan? It is not hard.
