“Tom Paine” (see below) has some (mostly) sage advice for Americans who are “mad as hell and want their country back.” I take issue with the idea of abolishing the Electoral College (How do you spell “President Al Gore”?), but otherwise his strictures about the dangers of living beyond our means (“Sucking at the hind tit of a dead cow”) and recommendations about what to do about our “non-representing representatives” in Washington strikes me as very sound.

* Representative snippet: “Your dysfunctional elite self-interested non-representing representatives passed the largest spending bill in history without reading it, and you did nothing. You want them to obey your constitutional mandate and secure your borders, and they ignore you. You ask them to enforce your immigration laws, and they ignore you. You say stop the madness of handing $300 billion of a bankrupted treasury to illegal alien welfare rewarding them for making a mockery of your laws, and they ignore you.”

* What to do:

1) “Require all laws that apply to the rest of the country also apply to Congress.”

2) Send your Congressional representatives a tea bag. They’ll get the message.

I was cheering until the point about universal national service, then I couldn’t boo loud enough. Put our young people under corrupt government control for two years of their lives? I chose to serve 5 years in the military; to force that choice on another man is slavery. My children were not born to serve the state; the state was created to serve them. My Christian ideals compel me to serve my fellow man–but he doesn’t live in Washington D.C.

I am organizing a tea party for April 15th in my New York State town(taxdayteaparty). We have gone to 100% assessment; full valuation was made during the housing bubble (July 08) before the crap hit the fan.
My dilemma- is that we have had 8 years of government spending, raising the debt to historic levels….who in hell pays it back? And why didn’t we have this tea party 5 friggen years ago?

Now wait just a cow’s back tit…republican companies skirt around our labor for profit like a bass going for a lure…Tyson foods, 94% republican mother’s milk to republican campaigns, hires illegal aliens to do the dirty work, and Sara Lee, Smithfield Foods…all have had problems with hiring American people. You say government drove them out? No, these companies are profit driven (greed) Scrooge!
Instead of improving, they stick us the finger. How American is that?
The rebellion is twisted. You are twisted.
Republican’s don’t want to play by the rules-that is so clear. It is all out dirt and dog eat dog. I don’t see that as being American.
I see, love it or leave it…most companies left us. Boo hoo.
The strength entitlement would be the feisty capitalist that stayed. But I see that you all are cowards and greedy.
No wonder we have a socialist state! You abandoned us! You back tit suckers.
Atlas shrugged because capitalist became wimps!

One more thing…a piece of my mind, It wasn’t patriotic for the left to protest the trillion dollar Iraq war machine that put us in debt, but it is okay and patriotic to protest this new administration?
    I don’t get it!
Its the double standard of the right. Again!

    #acj,
the total net deficit for the last 8 yrs. comes to 500 billion.

Yesterday, Dissent: patriotic; -now-, dissent: un-patriotic

You’re a regular Winston Smith there now aren’t you acj?

Companies are going where the corporate tax rate is lower, like Ireland, where it is 11%, so it goes to eleven, ours is more than 3 times that.

Corporate taxes* and taxes* on personal income will go up. And every time these taxes* [along w/ cap and trade taxes* ] go up, government revenue from taxes goes down. It’s Natural Law.

And just wait until the Ways and Means coccooninniccommmiiittteee says tax revenue is in”shortfall”, and the balance needs to be made up, by Guess Who? You!! Its the patriotic thing TO DO!!! Good times Good times

There are double standards, and they work best, (get the best cover) when those of the double standard, deploy the ol’ double reverse psychology on the emotions of people such as yourself. Class Warfare Rules!

    * taxES= sales tax (city, county, state and soon Federal, uh, sales taxes), taxes on your utility bills, phone bills, income tax, state income tax, property tax, city and municipal taxes (did I leave anything out, dude?) with the grand total waged on household budgets reaching above 50%. But hey, the sky’s the limit! Right?

the wages of secular sin is debt, because that’s what you and all the rest of us will be in as we try and fail to (futilely) pay off theirs (The Well Fed Federal Government). So just who wants who’s policy “to fail” as this scenario unfolds?

  8. 8. Gaffe Prices

    Oh, and #’s 5, 6 7; bcj,

500 billion is one half of one trillion, in 8 yrs.: the GMO estimate puts the budget deficit at 7.9 trillion, and the *new* teleprompter’s *new* updated budget deficit estimated total at a solid 9 trillion dollars, in just under 8 WEEKS

I think I’d prefer to stick with what’s behind door #1, because what’s behind doors #’d 2 and 3 I find the prospect of completely frightening

    that is all

Gaffe Prices, Try 4-5 trillion dollars from George Bush and that does not include interest. Repulicans are the biggest spenders with very little return on the money-nothing to improve social conditions that would actually help the population-I am mad as hell!

Republicans shouldn’t even be elected for dog catcher.

Don’t forget there was a carry over of stimulus money from the Bush administration to the Obama administration to save the banks; not from his inception. This is the second month of Obama-the debt situation did not just happen. So sorry Gaffe!
Reagan more than tripled our national debt, had a stock market crash, and caused a recession.
And the war in Iraq is not new…the Romans invaded Iraq and they also put their country into debt, and had to have a stimulus plan. Let me check the date on this and I will call you back.

  11. The video is interesting and raises many good points. One, however, is just idiotic. This “Thomas Paine” talks about the Constitution and then declares that the Electoral College should be abolished. Well, if we had popular vote 8 years ago it would have been Pres. Al Gore on 9/11/01.

Something to think about during these days when anyone with a video camera, computer and internet connection can become a “Speaker for the People” and Populist phenom.

The Iraq war cost the taxpayers 1 billion a month.

Obama is sending 17,000 American military service personnel (i.e thats soldiers, to you) to Afghanistan: He campaigned saying we could pay for hell-th scare™ for all Americans by all the (trillions, perhaps, mon ami?) moolah we would be saving once we bugged out, and sped out of Iraq.

But Obama has already conceded we won’t be out of there, that is, Iraq, or Club Gitmo, for that matter, anytime soon.

Anyway its quiet in Iraq right now with folks there choosing their representation and making lives for themselves, so ‘scuze us for proclaiming: “mission accomplished”. Obama doesn’t want to acknowledge success there, and Gen. Petraeus has already said that a surge strategy is not warranted or appropriate strategy in Afghanistan as it was in Iraq.

Reagan’s tax reduction tripled the revenue coming into Well Fed Givernment for Tip O’neil’s congressional Way and Means, Appropriations commiitteesss to abscond w/ runaway spending. Reagan and O’neill compromised for the sake of their respective priorities but that is old news.

In September, Schumer spoke of a run on a california bank, and it failed within days of his loose lips. You might want to re-focus your re-search on events then and see how the tentacles trace back to actions by Sandler, and Soros way back then, in September, [that resemble Soros previous attack on the British Pound back in '93], and set up the nice convenient “October Surprise” that quickly (WE’VE GOTTA DO IT NOW Act II) followed that put Bernanke on his knees to Peloski (like she needed to be persuaded to quikly go spend, spend, spend!! (like its a botox shopping spree, or something)), that quickly followed quickly, and with urgency, godspeed, and mucho generosity, that quickly
just as quickly followed quickly past, quickly.

The Romans had enemies on all sides, so maybe things might have turned out differently had said Rome tried placating the Vandals with health care, good homes loans, and a steady job, and proposed and done something “to improve social conditions that would actually help the population” there. Because Rome and the Vandals often fought together as allies when their interests intersected and their way of life mutually threatened: therefore they compromised, on an as needed basis.

Anyway, you answered my question: Spending and borrowing are mostly relatively irrelevant terminologies, in the short term, (except for, of course, the massive tax debt burden pounded and propounded on future generations) and done apparently, because we can do it, (also apparently), and shouldn’t

The good witch of the west, George Soros has a solution for all this, he plans to solve/”FIX*” , “THIS PROBLEM*” by attacking (again) and destroying (this time) the American currency (oh, what’s that thing called, the dollar?), and put us into bankruptcy and receivership, so we can file chapter 11 and have our massive debt load wiped clean, but with only mere the proviso that we be forced to accept the *new* “world currency” first proposed, not by Schumer, but by Vlad “the Impaler” Putin only just a few days ago.

Really. Trust me, I don’t want to fight with my fellow compatriots, but posing as a Libertarian when in fact you’re just really in fact, merely just “down w/ the struggle”, deserved calling out.

The higher objective here is that, what we do here, serves as the cliff notes for members of the soon to be “givernment subsidized” press “corpse”.

But they won’t take positve action on it, au contraire, except to begin a massively inefficient, expense-accounted drool, to hush the whole thing up. Just like they did with Obamas voting record, his history, his background, his school, birth and medical records, etc. When they pretended to conduct their rigorous and specious “Vetting Process” *wink*wink* reserved for those they pretended also to be once infatuated with, once upon a time… . And if they (are to) achieve this objective, they will be “COUNTING ON YOU” to do most of the grunt work they are far too fat (obese, sorry) and lazy to do, on these threads.

    * “FIX” , “THIS PROBLEM” are frequent and obvious hard sell sloganettes as used by Obamas (like, oh the ol’ “toxic ass-etts”, and “WORST PRESIDENCY SINCE THE GREAT DEPRESSION” memes he used were, just a few weeks ago) presidency

Yeah, the “FIX”. IS IN , alright, and is “boldly and wisely” (Obama said, just yesterday) ‘proceeding apace’ alright, as we speak, you got that part right
