America the dutiful
Six hours ago, Le Monde quoted Barack Obama as saying that the US is one of the largest Muslim countries on the planet:
I can’t translate it personally, but the Google machine translator yields this text. The video is here, and although there’s French dubbing, you can hear President Obama’s English responses in the background and he does appear to say what the machine translation yields. The NYT’s Caucus now has the story too.
The United States is “one of the largest Muslim country on the planet,” said June 2 Tuesday on Canal + U.S. President, Barack Obama, who must decide Thursday in Cairo a landmark speech of reconciliation towards the Muslim world ( see Barack Obama’s interview on Canal + here).
The United States and the Western world must learn about Islam, and indeed if we count the number of American Muslims, we see that the United States is one of the largest Muslim country the planet, “he said.
“Whatever their faith, those who build and not destroy those who leave behind a lasting legacy,” he continued. “I think there is now a real conflict between those who argue that Islam is irreconcilable with modern life and those who believe the contrary, Islam has always evolved along with the progress”, at – he added.
After its stages in Saudi Arabia and Egypt, the American president is scheduled to visit Germany and then Saturday in France, where he will participate in the commemorations of the Allied landings on 6 June 1944.
Below is an excerpt from the interview with Barack Obama aired on Canal +. The U.S. president spoke about the crash of flight Rio-Paris.
In the preceding post, I noted how the other lesson — that Islam should learn from the United States — has been somewhat more toned down than it should be. By choosing to give his speech in Egypt, an authoritarian Middle Eastern country, instead of a more moderate country like Indonesia, he runs the risk of accidentally conveying the sense that democracy is on the back burner. What message does President Obama wish to project when he says “Les Etats-Unis sont “l’un des plus grands pays musulmans de la planète”? Is it of Islam as the future of America or America as the future of Islam? The President’s speech seems innocent enough, but emphasis is important. Didn’t he say, “don’t tell me that words don’t matter?”
In the interview, President Obama says one of the goals his trip is to foster dialogue between the West and the Muslim world. Maybe some communications strategist or public diplomacy consultant has advised “rebranding America” as the sort of place Muslims can identify with. That way it will be an easy sell. What better way to do it than by saying, ‘America is one of the biggest Muslim countries on the planet’. Ich bin ein Mussulman, or however you say it. That won’t necessarily fly; it doesn’t seem to work too well for India, which has a genuinely huge Muslim population. But there’s a hidden danger. His audience can say right: just look at how advanced and rich America is, and it’s one of the largest Muslim countries on the planet. See nothing is broken in Islam. America is proof. There comes a point when rebranding may become misleading packaging.
Update: Those looking for the exact transcript of what Barack Obama said in his interview with Laura Haim, without having to listen past the heavy French dubbing of the video link above, will find it at this White House link. The relevant passage reads:
Q I’m sure they will appreciate that, sir. Thank you so much for them.
Tomorrow we’re leaving for the Middle East. It’s going to be your first trip there. What do you want to achieve with this trip?
THE PRESIDENT: Well, we’re going to be traveling to Saudi Arabia; I’ll be having discussions with King Abdullah. And then we’ll travel to Cairo, in which I am delivering on a promise I made during the campaign to provide a framework, a speech of how I think we can remake relations between the United States and countries in the Muslim world.
Now, I think it’s very important to understand that one speech is not going to solve all the problems in the Middle East. And so I think expectations should be somewhat modest.
What I want to do is to create a better dialogue so that the Muslim world understands more effectively how the United States but also how the West thinks about many of these difficult issues like terrorism, like democracy, to discuss the framework for what’s happened in Iraq and Afghanistan and our outreach to Iran, and also how we view the prospects for peace between the Israelis and the Palestinians.
Now, the flip side is I think that the United States and the West generally, we have to educate ourselves more effectively on Islam. And one of the points I want to make is, is that if you actually took the number of Muslims Americans, we’d be one of the largest Muslim countries in the world. And so there’s got to be a better dialogue and a better understanding between the two peoples.
It’s at the 2:26 time mark in the video link above if you want to listen to it yourself.

Obama is trying to have it both ways, a fact he had with Chicago politics, baiting Whitey in his district, being “moderate” with the Press.
It won’t work. Fox and other outlets will have the “undernews” as Mickey Kaus calls it — that Obama says America will submit to Islam (which is what the speech seems to be about).
The First Muslim President submitting to Islam and making Islam America’s future (it’s telling he had nothing to say about the Muslim murders of his soldiers at home) is nothing short of submission.
As such, it touches off the Cold Civil War.
“one of the largest Muslim country on the planet”
How so? How many American Muslims are there?
“Deceptive Packaging” may become future historians’ two word summary for this president.
Largest in land area.
I have come into possession, I shall not say how, of an advance copy of President Obama’s Egyptian speech, and offer it here for the edification of fellow Belmont Clubbers.
O land of Ra! O land of ancient stones
We come to beg forgiveness for our sins
We hope our being here somewhat atones
For all we’ve done to loose the awful djinns
That’ve harmed you and your children all your life
Like medicine and science and our cash
Those awful things that lead to constant strife
And turn the flame of life to cindered ash
We beg of you to please not turn away
We need your guidance and your counsel now
On bended knee I plead with you this day
To teach us Allah’s way and your know how
For only when we’ve turned our faith to yours
Will God’s work here on Earth be truly won
And highest form of art are pyramid tours
And all bow down to Ra the god of sun
There are only 3 million or so muslims in the USA, that’s less than one percent of the entire total population. Screw these idiots, and screw Obama too! My idea of dialog with these a$$hats starts with effyou and ends with camelboy.
This is pure Obama – pandering to the Whites in Pennsylvania and then besmirching them as “Bitter Clingers” when in San Francisco.
He’s a one-trick pony.
If the Muslims in the middle east don’t buy it – it makes them smarter than your average American voter – nuff said.
Submit? F that!

“he runs the risk of accidentally conveying the sense that democracy is on the back burner.”
Theirs nothing “accidental” about it….
He’s just selling us out. Surprised?
Pander, pander, pander….what will Team Obama come up with next? I suggest that the Vatican declare war on the US so that we can see Obama wearing a clerical collar and cross. Has anyone bothered to tell him the campaign is over? These meaningless dribbles of unctiousness are simply getting annoying. And at some point, one of these well meaning adversaries is going to call him on it. My money is on Kim Il Jong. He’s crazy and doesn’t listen to anything other than his own speeches so he’s immune to the Team Obama charm.
Excuse me, but given this statement:
The United States is “one of the largest Muslim country on the planet.”
Why are we quibbling about “largest”? Did he just call the U.S. a Muslim country?
Something I learned only recently talks to this point. Remember the O’s 57 states remark, so carefully hidden by the MSM? Well, turns out there are, ummmm, 57 Muslim states. Coincidence?
Even more interesting, after the O said he’d been to 57 states, he said “one more to go.”
Nuh huh. That’s not just a Freudian slip. That’s a Freudian bra and panties.

The Koran is a Muslim book and teaches it is ok to kill any soldier recruiting or preparing for war against Islam.
Killers declare they are not guilty.
Excerpt Koran 8:015-017
Set 29, Count 63-65 [8.15] …when you meet those who disbelieve marching for war, then turn not your backs to them. [8.16] …for the sake of fighting… [8.17]
I don’t know by what basis President Obama claims that the US is one of the largest Muslim nations in the world. If he is counting Nation of Islam members to claim that he can forget it. My students were vehement that NOI was NOT Islam but something else.
President Obama appears to making the mistake many accused President Bush of making and that is viewing Islamic as a monolith. There are sects and schools of Islamic thought that make due with modernity and the West just fine, there are those that do not. President Obama it appears really does believe the line his predecessor used often.
To moon god worshipers, all are born Muslim. Therefore; the Muslim POTUS is correct. America is one the largest Muslim countries in the world.
As an Apostate, I will have to have my head cut off by the religion of peace.

Exceptional used to mean… well, exceptional. Now it’s used to describe those with special needs.
The language of my youth is quickly disappearing; replaced with feel good.
Arkroyal, Russia and China have more muslims than the US and is the land mass not greater for Russia and for China that it is for the US?
do you see the picture on drudge of a black guy kissing a medal of some sort saying obama is the new tutenkhamen?
Enscout: the language of my youth is quickly disappearing; think what Beowulf thought of Chaucer language. think what Chaucer thought of Elizabethan language. And I can’t even understand the Scots.
I listened to the video on the laurence haim site and I heard O say in English “If you took all the Muslim-Americans America would be one of the largest Muslim countries in the world.” So he did say this.
This is a ridiculous statement. First, no one knows how many Muslim-Americans there are. The US census doesn’t ask for the religion or respondents. If you asked CAIR how many Muslim-Americans there are they’d say about 7 million. The real number is probably 2 or 3 million.
There are probably neighborhoods in the Cairo slums that have more Muslims than that. India has over 140 million Muslims.
Maybe they live in the 57th state…
I don’t really get this. Is the guy dumb? I doubt that. Does he think no one’s listening, or that no one knows that he’s saying something ridiculous? The US is no Mecca for Muslims, you should pardon the expression. They prefer to live in places where they aren’t sullied by infidels and where they can have up to their four legally allowed number of wives.
He bowed to a Muslim king and now he’s bowing to his Muslim people. Hail Hussein Obama, Muslim King of America!!
ARE YOU BEGINNING TO REALIZE THAT APPARENTLY NO ONE IN ELECTED OFFICE IS WILLING OR ABLE TO STOP SOETERO??
1. He says whatever he wants to say.
2. He takes over any business he wants to take over.
3. He closes any business he wants to close.
4. He spends hundreds of thousands of dollars any time he wants to take his wife to dinner anywhere he wants.
Here in the Virginia countryside the very ground is trembling as founding fathers roll despondently.
Given his time in Indonesia, both his real and adopted daddys’ faiths, his sojourn in Pakistan, Barack the Magnificent has taken it upon himself to teach America “one of the greatest Muslim countries of the planet” about Islam.
The Kool Aid and the megalomania are definitely going to the man’s head. Is he crazy ?
In highly undemocratic Riyadh and in Cairo, expect Obama to say that America can put its democratic moral money where its mouth is by closing Guantanamo.
That should impress both countries, noted for their own hellhole prisons.
Hussein Obama! Hussein Obama! Hussein Obama!
Is this guy shameless or what? Muslim terror plots unfolding here at home with a murdered US soldier and our president is kissing Middle East a$$. Does the man have any idea how weak he appears to the world at large?
Pray he doesn’t drop to his knees this time.
I’m not even going to get ticked off about this. He ceases to surprise me. I will only be surprised when American Strykers are rolling down American streets and aiming American weapons at Americans….now, that’ll surprise me.
Where is our Leonidas? Where is our final stand?
i’ll be darned. gw is no longer the worst president in american history. it’s this guy who’s one for the books.
I seem to recall liberals getting their panties in a twist when Reagan said that America was a Christian nation.
At least what Reagan said was mathematically correct.
Obama should stay his ass in Egypt where he can mimic Pharaoh’s deeds with the rest of his brothers!
Yeah, when i first read the quote I freaked a little bit. Is he really suggesting that we bow to Islam? I don’t know if i’m that paranoid yet lol but slashing missile defense, backing up Iran’s wish for
nuclear(weapons)power. Paying off the union, some say, with car companies for helping to get him elected. I am now headed over to Yon to read his piece on NK and Gates.
“I think there is now a real conflict between those who argue that Islam is irreconcilable with modern life and those who believe the contrary, Islam has always evolved along with the progress”, he added.
Whether or not Islam is reconcilable with modern life is a function of the individual practitioner. It’s not an absolute, Barack.
Radical Islamists, in Europe, North America and all over the planet have made it crystal clear that they have neither the desire nor the intention of reconciling with modern life & that the agenda of both soft and hard jihad is the destruction of modern “western” style of life.
Given the recruiter killing in Arkansas, this –just up on instapundit –is unnerving as hell.
The “don’t worry about it” quote is triply unnerving, coming as it does from John M. Deutch, Clintonite CIA director fired, charged, and then pardoned for stealing and putting CIA top secrets on his unprotected home AOL account back in the late 90s, then recently re-hired by O as his (for cryin’out loud!) spy satellite advisor.
Quadruply unnerving, he’s also on the board of Citigroup, which will be the first full government bank shortly.
Quintupely unnerving, he’s at MIT, which is in the soviet socialist republic of Massachusetts, and enjoys fat gifts from one citizen George Soros.
re Citibank board, remember that counterparty global financial system crashee AIG had Richard Holbrooke (Mr. East Timor) on its board, until he got tapped for his resoundingly succesful stint as Afghanistan/Pakistan special envoy.
We’re swiss cheese, folks.
The United States of America is not a Muslim country. Pray that it does not become one. In Muslim countries women are physically punished if caught in adultery. Men are not. There is no freedom of religion in Muslim countries; beware if you are not committed to the Muslim faith. No job, ostracized and victimized is your fate if you are not Muslim. There are no rights such as we find in the First Amendment to the U S Constitution: no free speech; no free press; no freedom of religion; no right to petition Congress. There won’t be any Congress. Is this what the last general election produced? If so the new President practiced deceit on the voters!
Well, the universal source of truth in the age of the internet is Wikipedia. And Wikipedia says there are 1.8-3.0 million Muslims in the United States. Even taking the higher number, the following countries have more Muslims: Afghanistan, Albania, Algeria, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Chad, China, Democratic Republic of the Congo, the Ivory Coast, Egypt, Ethiopia, France, Germany, Ghana, Guinea, India, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Libya, Malaysia, Mali, Mauritania, Morocco, Mozambique, Niger, Nigeria, Pakistan, the Philippines, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Tajikstan, Tanzania, Tunisia, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Uganda, Uzbekistan, and Yemen — plus the West Bank and Gaza, which are not a country.
In short, this was a stupid and ignorant comment by the Commander in Chief, and it betrays his absolutely defective world-view. It’s the kind of irredeemably idiotic statement that would haunt a Republican politician for life, fodder for talk shows and late-night comedy for years. But I have no doubt that the MSM censors will descend on this news story and do damage control for He Who Shall Not Be Middle-Named.
BBB
for those not inclined to check the link, here’s a snip, bolding mine:
(open quote)
President Obama sent the document to Congress on May 5 for Congressional review and possible revision, and the Government Printing Office subsequently posted the draft declaration on its Web site.
As of Tuesday evening, the reasons for that action remained a mystery. On its cover, the document attributes its publication to the House Committee on Foreign Affairs. But Lynne Weil, the committee spokeswoman, said the committee “neither published it nor had control over its publication.”
Gary Somerset, a spokesman for the printing office, said it had “produced” the document “under normal operating procedures” but had now removed it from its Web site pending further review.
The document contains no military information about the nation’s stockpile of nuclear arms, or about the facilities and programs that guard such weapons. Rather, it presents what appears to be an exhaustive listing of the sites that comprise the nation’s civilian nuclear complex, which stretches coast to coast and includes nuclear reactors and highly sensitive sites at weapon laboratories.
Steven Aftergood, a security expert at the Federation of American Scientists in Washington, revealed the existence of the document Monday in “Secrecy News,” an electronic newsletter he publishes on the Web.
Mr. Aftergood expressed bafflement at its disclosure, calling it “a one-stop shop for information on U.S. nuclear programs.”
(close quote)
Its amazing isn’t it? Anytime George Bush made a public error, which generally was in the nature of pronunciation or grammar, the MSM was quick to pounce upon it as evidence of his lack of intelligence. When Obama makes errors which shows his ignorance, its just glossed over. Nothing here to be concerned about, just move along…
Ignorance is curable. Intelligent people recognize their own ignorance and seek to remedy the situation. The stupid sail on, oblivious of their own limitations.
Thought experiment: If G.W. Bush or Sarah Palin had said anything this breathtakingly stupid, the result from the media and the trollosphere would be…?
Now tell me again about how brilliant this Columbia/Harvard scholar and distinguished professor is, and how he got into said institutions on merit, and didn’t play race to his advantage.
Come on. Testify.
Wow… Just. Wow.
Obama – epic fail as president.
On the plus side, he’s the best thing we have to pump up the Republican party! Now to get some people to run for office worth voting for.
Juxtapose these words with his recent assertion that America is not a Christian nation. Muslim nation? Yep. Christian nation. No way.
Obama’s betrayal is grave. Such abased language will certainly inflame the supremacist arrogance of Muslims the world over. God help us. The Left has installed a genuine traitor.
My post at 25 looks off-topic and sort of truncated….got a phone call I couldn’t ignore…just as I was TRYING to figure out to express myself without sounding like a liberal.
I want to (so badly) just go to cursing, namecalling and threats (not really….). I was trying to express my fury at what this fraud is doing without going to cursing, namecalling and threats.
I still can’t figure out how to do it, so I’ll just give a “yahoo” to some of the excellent posts others are leaving.
I wonder if the Totus Potus would be willing to publicly say “The United States is one of the largest Protestant countries in the world”. Naaaah. He’s just trying to placate the Muslims and let them know he really is about HIS father’s business.
The Publiction of a document that sensitive is no accident. Like the stuffing of secret information into the shorts and socks of a certain Harvard-educated former national security advisor to President Couldn’t Control-his-own-Willy.
Criminals are running things.
Sry everyone, i left my point hanging in the air with my last post. BTW, Yon’s article on Gates is ok. He gives props to the Phillipine forces, cool, and expresses the stark reality ahead in AfPak, “So the bottom line is that there is a lot of killing to do. We need to show the enemy that we can crush them.” And his perception of the sitch with NoKo is that nukes are a no-no per Gates, not verbatim of course.
As far as BHO goes, and the quote attributed to him via Francois, either he means if you took all the Muslim-Americans together from around the world, then in a sense America is the biggest Muslim country in the world, but that’s still just as much bullsh#t as saying America is really the largets Muslim country in the world, as is, right now.
Besides everything else, Obama is evidently a liar, Here is a list of largest Muslim countries in the world. The United States – at only three million Muslims – is nowhere near being on it.
Pakistan 150,365,000
India 122,570,000
Indonesia 116,105,000
Bangladesh 110,849,000
Turkey 64,714,000
Iran 64,707,000
Egypt 57,780,000
Nigeria 49,000,000
Algeria 30,442,000
Morocco 27,736,000
JJRedfan/44; note, it’s every soft target in the country, and your president put it on the web, and then by way of damage control trotted out an unmistakeable “f**k you, America” in the person of a previous distributor-to-the-world of America’s top secrets.
It’s as if GWB had trotted out Duke Cunningham to chastise Dodd or Rangel or one of the other two or three dozen criminal congressional democrats exposed so far.
“I seem to recall liberals getting their panties in a twist when Reagan said that America was a Christian nation.”
Hell, actually I think Obama recently explicitly disavowed America being ‘Christian’.
Technically, I don’t think American ideals are ‘Christian’ in the narrow exclusive sense — that wrongly suggests that they are only of significance to Christians when they are of universal value. But it is grossly historically ignorant to acknowledge that the ideals and the vast majority of people are ‘of’ (from) Christianity.
“And one of the points I want to make is, is that if you actually took the number of Muslim Americans, we’d be one of the largest Muslim countries in the world,” Mr. Obama said.“–NYT
No, we wouldn’t be. Not even close.
And, by the way, alleged President…make up your mind
‘Obama stated: “[O]ne of the great strengths of the United States is — although as I mentioned, we have a very large Christian population, we do not consider ourselves a Christian nation or a Jewish nation or a Muslim nation; we consider ourselves a nation of citizens who are bound by ideals and a set of values.”‘
http://mediamatters.org/research/200905060001
Are we, or aren’t we a Muslim nation, or does that change depending on the day of the week, and whoever it is you’re currently lying to?
Gibbs stated that Obama is bridging the relationship between the USA and Muslims….why is he working with a religion? Don’t we have seperation of church and state? Shouldn’t that apply to all religions not just Christianity?
He has always obviously to me, been a muslim.Iknew it before he was elected. There are those among us who have refused to see this reality. It remains to be seen why 50% of the population lacks the ability to see through this diabolical charlatan. The liar, the narcissist the thief. The dangers inherent in this fool running our country are to scary to even contemplate. My sanity dictates that I don’t watch or read “real” news everyday. A few days a week is all I can take. How much longer does he have to be in charge? Will we survive the great killer of freedom and liberty.
To those that have made comments disparaging Islam, please keep all of your bigotry against the religion up while you attack Obama’s comments. I mean attacking Islam and other religions is really the only thing that you can do and the only way you find yourself happy at night right? Well go ahead. Keep on hoping for more Crusades against the non-believers.
The count of Muslims in American often erroneously includes Christian Arabs. Until recently, and perhaps still, Christian Arab Americans have outnumbered Muslim Arab Americans.
Good point, Ralph. Been wondering where you were, since that Corvair thing.
Hey Ralph, try not to disparage my religion while chastising others about disparaging religion. What keeps you happy at night Ralphie boy, your Red Rider BB gun?? BWAHAHA
We have to realize that the lamestream media is now the State-Run Media, and they’re in the tank for this guy. Of course, BHO’s reckless and irresponsible comment will be glossed over. He is all for the destruction of the United States and its customs, culture, and freedom as we have known it.
United States of America

Cause of Death: Barack Hussein Obama.
During a conference call in preparation for President Obama’s trip to Cairo, Egypt, where he will address the Muslim world, deputy National Security Adviser for Strategic Communications Denis McDonough said “the President himself experienced Islam on three continents before he was able to — or before he’s been able to visit, really, the heart of the Islamic world — you know, growing up in Indonesia, having a Muslim father — obviously Muslim Americans (are) a key part of Illinois and Chicago.”
Farrakhan ? Chicago is home turf of the Black Muslim Brotherhood.
In his April 6 address to the Turkish Parliament, President Obama referenced how many “Americans have Muslims in their families or have lived in a Muslim majority country. I know, because I am one of them.”
How much of this Muslim stuff will we have to endure ?
According to this “president,” Iran has a right to nuclear “energy” and we are one of the biggest Muslim countries in the world.
Almost sounds like he’s trying to beg them not to nuke us.
We are so screwed.
I’m convinced: He’s intentionally trying to destroy this country. He doesn’t even want to “rebuild” it in his own image. He wants it destroyed.
America is the Largest muslim TARGET nation in the world.
Ralph Nader, investor (not always green) is understandably
PO’ed about the whole GM thing
I’ve read the Koran twice and am highly inclined to Mark Twain’s assessment of Islam (not positive). But I don’t need to attack the thinking of the adherents of Islam if they don’t attempt to destroy mine.
Well, at least Ralph thwarted the Jolly Green Fatass, Al Gore.
Needless to say the heritage of the US of A is a mixture of Europeans fleeing Europe for the most part and Africans brought here involutarily intermixed with the indiginous people who were already here. Spanish and French from North and South also mixed in, with their European and Native heritages as well. The Natives were not Christian, except by conversion, but now most of those with European or African blood still are, or at least can trace their roots to that Faith. Where in this long Heritage were the Muslims, who are only a recent addition to the mix? Our Heritage is being intentionally undermined. I keep saying that Obama is not that stupid. It is all part of some completely transparent plot but everyone is so confused by the intentional confusion, abetted by our press, that we know not what to do except await the next election. Today we learned this election will be run without any identification needed or required or allowed since now identification at the polls is a possible sign of racism. This way Obama can just use his private airforce to import all the Muslims he needs to keep getting elected forever. Its called positive affirmation. Keep repeating something you want as often as necessary until it becomes true.

In Germany, our president will visit two places: Buchenwald…and Dresden.
Here it comes, folks –the thermonuclear Moral Equivalency, ratification of the layered Evils of Christendom, Caucasionhood, Western Civilization, AmeriKKKa.
Self-hating Boomer @ 40: “Now tell me again about how brilliant this Columbia/Harvard scholar and distinguished professor is, and how he got into said institutions on merit, and didn’t play race to his advantage. …Come on. Testify.”
Shoot I’d be glad to BUT none of his birth, school or other records have ever been made public. You know, like every other candidate has done?
He is a post turtle.
As time goes on, I see and read more and more people making the statement that The 0bamanation is a traitor or stupid or…. ?? The question becomes how do we get rid of this blight on the Republic? I am sure there are those who think that we are the problem (conservatives/libertarians).
Keep a sharp eye on everything:
1. Look at how the recent killings are being spun. Late term abortion doctor vs. Muslim convert trained in Yemen killing soldiers. Look at who the “news” reportage spins as extremist.
2. GM bankruptcy and UAW unions. Bond holders being robbed by government fiat. It seems to me that the moves made by the 0bama admin are probably illegal. They certainly are immoral. Any lawyers in the audience care to comment?
3. The 0bamanation’s upcoming speech in Cairo. Why there and why now?
4. The 0bamanation’s recent meet with Bibi. Why pressure Israel and in the way that he did?
Remember that as Rahmbo said, ‘Can’t let a good crisis go to waste.’ What are the actions that manufactured crises may bring about? There is so much beneath the surface with these guys.
I smell war and worse on the horizon.
Well, we would place in the top 50…in a list of the top 57.
It’s like a game trying to figure what he’s up to every time he says or does anything. He takes one side of an issue when speaking to one group, takes the opposite side when speaking to a different group–and they both believe him.
I honestly have no idea what the subtext of this could be. No idea what he gains from it.
I wonder if he even knows which came first, Buchenwald, or Dresden, or if the question even means anything?

I think there is a real conflict currently between those who hold that Islam is irreconcilable with modern life and those who think the opposite, that Islam has always evolved along with progress.
A few pertinent questions:
So Mr President, on what side of that civil war do you stand?
Does the black preacher cadence translate well into Farsi or Arabic?
How does what you are doing, shoring up support for the corrupt dictators of the middle east and selling out any who put their neck on the line in the effort of liberalization, help those who want to modernize?

To those that have made comments disparaging Islam, please keep all of your bigotry against the religion up while you attack Obama’s comments. I mean attacking Islam and other religions is really the only thing that you can do and the only way you find yourself happy at night right?
God Ralph–what can I say. When the Great One denounces the evil, bitter white folk who cling to their “guns and religion” and, lets face it Ralph, he’s talking about Christians here, that’s okay with you.
When those Evil Jews in Israel have the utter gall to fight back against people who say they must be exterminated, they are scum.
When Muslims kill, rape, steal, or intimidate, its really just the victim’s fault. They were culturally insensitive, and thus should have to pay the price.
QUIZ:
What religious group hijacked airplanes and ran them into buildings in New York?
A. Evil Bitter Christians
B. Nasty Jews
C. Misunderstood and Virtuous Muslims
D. Subhuman Scum who are rotting in Hell
If your answer was anything other than “D”, you yourself belong in category “D,” and may God fail to have mercy on your soul.
It’s ironic, how the Left, which has for so many years trampled or denied our Christian values, now follows a leader who asserts we are Muslim, and must learn more about Islam.
Of course, we are NOT a Muslim country,we do NOT have a significant Muslim population.
Obama wants to project a more palatable image of America to the Arabs. To do this, he’s willing to sacrifice the Judeo-Christian ideals most Americans hold at their core. How could an avowed Christian, who sat for 20 years in Jeremiah Wright’s church, claim so effortlessly that we are a Muslim nation, and that we must learn about Islam? Obama was brought up by his mother to believe all relligions hold equal weight. It didn’t make much difference if you read the Bilbe, the Koran, or the Torah. I guess this is why it’s so easy for him to interchange one religious label for another, depending on which audience he is about to address.
Obama is also the eternal politician. He once said he was like a blank page on which everyone could project their convictions. So he becomes all things to all men. When in Pennsylvania he was a regular Joe fighting for manufacturing jobs, but in San Francisco he was an elitist liberal disparraging the gun-toting Bible-clinging low-class whites. But though talking out of both sides of your mouth may be a great way to garner votes in an election, it’s a terrible way to govern.
Ultimately this will backfire. Muslims will see this pandering for what it is. They will likely think him a fool for thinking they would be so gullible as to fall for it. They may also see him as weak, with few convictions, if he can so easily toss aside his nation’s beliefs. Back home this will also backfire (if it’s not buried by the MSM first). Many of us who hold firmly to our Christian beliefs will feel betrayed by this man who is supposed to represent us.
52. Ralph Nader:
#52. Ralph Nader,
When we observe and comment on the daily violence inflicted by Islam, the violence recorded in Islam’s “holy” books, the sadistic brutality of Islam’s perfect man, Muhammed, and the bloody 1,400 year Islamic World War, we are not “disparaging” Islam.
We are stating the truth, the facts, the obvious.
Simply put, with it’s terrorist founder Muhammed, its verses of hatred, violence and intolerance in the Koran, and its acts of cruel barbarity, Islam disparages itself.
~ The Infidel Alliance
Jake Tapper has an intriguingly titled post called “The Emergence of President Obama’s Muslim Roots”, in which he quotes National Security Adviser for Strategic Communications Denis McDonough as describing how
But Tapper’s article is only definite in its vagueness, which is not his fault, because although he catalogs President Obama’s recent efforts to emphasize his Christian roots, he is forced to quote, in one and the same breath, the emphasis of the President’s Muslim heritage — I hesitate to use the word ‘heritage’, but it seems appropriately indefinite enough.
The flip side to being all things to all men is the need to be nothing in particular. Robert Samuelson, writing in the Washington Post is amazed at how easily Barack Obama can say two mutually contradictory things at once and have them simultaneously credited. For whatever reason, the President can govern as if words don’t matter. What matters is himself as the symbol of a post-everything America, and Samuelson loosely grasps this.
Consensus built around a charismatic leader has certain weaknesses. Humans have feet of clay. But the biggest danger is that charisma often conceals a bankruptcy of substance. You can say two contradictory things and get away with it before a doting press; but reality won’t let you go in two different directions at once. A real consensus has to be built around substance. “A house divided against itself cannot stand. … do not expect the house to fall — but I do expect it will cease to be divided.” Somewhere along the line the books have to balance. And Barack Obama has to be something; what exactly is up to him.
It’s ironic, how the Left, which has for so many years trampled or denied our Christian values, now follows a leader who asserts we are Muslim, and must learn more about Islam.
Not really. Both Islam and the hard Left believe in a strict, hierarchic society. The hard Left also believes in their ability to infiltrate and subvert popular movements to turn them into their own engine of change. Much of the revolutionary movement against the Shah of Iran was backed by communists who looked on the religious fanatics as tools that they would use and discard when they were no longer needed. In their less than infinite wisdom, they did not understand that the religious fanatics viewed them in the same way–tools to be discarded after the revolution came about.
And who won?
peterike – You are so very correct sir. 57 “States” is in response to “official” Muslim nations – who’s the 58th?
Most American’s didn’t get the correlation during the campaign and most don’t get it now either. People thought BHO was just being ignorant or just having a pre-senior moment at the time. No he wasn’t – it’s very telling what this man actually says if one looks for connections. BHO is not stupid if you look at context! He means what he says and he’ll do what he say’s unless we stop him! Both houses of Congress are useless – who’s that leave to defend our freedoms?
Anyone itching for a fight to uphold the “natural” rights of man?
The ancient Egyptian religion was really quite good, compared to the shit they got now. Upon death, one is presented before the judgement seat of Osiris, and by gollies, there’s a pole there, with nodes, full seven, and if your behavior hasn’t risen to the level where ‘that sound is heard made by no two things striking together’–where the human mind and heart first turn to proper human affairs–those of the spirit–the soul eater, a composite of a crocodile and hyena I think–is gonna eat you up, chomp, his snout pointing right at the appropriate node, in the iconography, that you got to get past. This symbolism of levels comes from the east,–the Egyptians had a myth that their outlook came to them in the form of a white bull, from the east–and is found as far away as the good ol’ US of A, a muslim country, in old Navajo sand paintings. It is said too that the baboons, who clap and sing with the rising of the sun, will applaud you if you pass the test of the soul eater, and contiune on.
Obastard’s apology tour is turning into a grovelpalooza. Mark Levin
Let’s take up Mr. Obama’s suggestion and find out what “we must learn about Islam”:
First, we must learn that the “relgion” of Islam was founded by a sadistic sociopath named Muhammed. He was a murderer, a beheader, an amputator, a mutilator, a torturer, a slaver, a rapist, a terrorist, a looter and thief, a misogynist, a paedophile child rapist, a liar, and a genocidist, motivated by lust, greed and power.
The founder of Islam in word and deed, was perhaps one of the most repugnant, immoral, vile, contemptible, evil human beings to have lived.
Honestly, can anyone defend a man who cut off the hands and feet of fellow human beings, then burned their eyeballs out with a hot iron poker, then cast them still alive on scorching hot rocks under the searing Arabian sun to die an excruciating death? Can anyone TRULY call this man who decapitated hundreds of human beings a “holy” prophet?
And he is regarded as “al-insan al-kamil” or Islam’s “perfect man”, lauded in the Koran as “an excellent model of conduct”.
Sure….an excellent model of conduct for Charles Manson, Adolph Hitler, Ghengis Khan, Idi Amin, Mao Zedong and Jeffrey Dahmer.
So, we have learned that the foundation that Islam is built upon is a foundation of evil. Its “prophet” did evil, spoke evil, demanded evil, was evil.
Yet his “religion”, Islam, is a religion of peace.
Yes, Mr. Obama, we must learn about Islam.

Why do I feel that a village in Kenya has lost it’s idiot!
So, according to Obama, America is not a Christian nation, but it is a Muslim nation.
Yeah, right.
Obama is showing himself.
But what does he get out of identifying the U.S. as a “Muslim” country? Surely he can’t think that any actual Muslims give a rat’s ass what he thinks about this? Or am I wrong?
And I don’t get what significance his “57 states” comedy routine was supposed to have for a Muslim audience. I mean, I get that there are 57 Muslim “states” in the world, but what message is it that you think he’s trying to send there?
Which one of us will fire the first shot?
The problem for Obama is that he can’t send both messages at once. The internet, Fox News, Drudge, Talk Radio all allow “undernews” to undermine the Katie Couric type thought control. And no matter how hard a “female consensus” is driven by female-oriented stuff, ostracizing or raising up those who either dissent from Orthodoxy (Obama worship) or toe the line, at the end, Obama has to produce results.
The danger for him is that his foreign policy disasters will overwhelm his domestic policy. He figures he can give a big speech, have Muslims worldwide worship him as “the One” and end the terror threat to the US while he’s busy redistributing the Wealth to his supporters.
However, the likely outcome of his groveling to Muslims, and Pakistan/Iran/Egypt in particular, is more aggression as Muslim tribal, sectarian, factional, and terrorist leaders see weakness and no consequences. It guarantees more not less attacks on the US and has both Obama AND Dems AND the Media boxed into the corner.
The corner is called “Muslim.” Obama has chosen the Muslim side. He thinks he has not, giving a big speech and then flying away. But nothing dies on the internet, and when the next big terrorist attack on the US kills thousands or millions, he and Dems and the Media will pay for it. It WILL be trotted out. He will have been defined as choosing sides with Muslims. Over America.
That fight could not be avoided the day Pakistan acquired nuclear weapons. Equalizing America’s advantages. Obama for all his Muslim roots, does not understand a guy like Bin Laden, or Ahmadinejad, or really Muslims at all. Oh he shares their hatred for America, that’s clear. But he does not see how his weakness invites their contempt and attack, not cooperation.
Well if the messiah can alter reality by nullifying mathematics when it comes to the economy i don’t see why he can’t do this with demographics too. By all means lets give this cretin and ACORN the ability to influence the Census. Flush soon please.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Obama gave his speech in Cairo in perfect Arabic.
#83 Sonja,
The only “shots” that need to be fired are shots of the truth.
Islam must face its barbarity, but will only do so if its barbarity is exposed.
Open a Koran and read it. Then read the Hadith, the life of Muhammed, and learn about the 1400 year old Islamic World War.
All we have to do is not be afraid to speak the TRUTH about Islam, its barbarian prophet, its slaughter and its hate. This forces Muslims to defend the indefensible, which will will ultimately lead to the collapse of this death cult.
Peace to you, and God (not allah) bless America!

Drudge Has A Report of a possible surface-to-air missile recently whipping past a Continental air cargo plane at 13,000 feet, somewhere over Texas I think, a former military guy piloting the Continental. Details unclear.
Good Lord.
Do you really think the US Military would mobilize against its own citizens as some have suggested?
Clearly, this report will go no further than pages such as this.
But the idea of the Military going against the populace, even a small `tea party’ group, isn’t that the ultimate violation of…
The pilot of the Continental air cargo airplane was former military. There’s no definite information on who fired the missile nor even any certainty that a missile had been fired. The whole thing is still under investigation.
Barack Quisling Obama!
The Muslim population in the United States is not nearly two percent, but closer to 0.5 percent. Even Wikipedia, in spite of its occasional anti-Christian bias, puts the Muslim population in the US between 0.6 to one percent.
Most interesting is the ratio of Jews to Muslims in the US. If salient faith and habitual religious practice are considered markers of “real” Judaism and Islam, then, perhaps, the “real” ratio may be close to 1:1.
What’s going to happen next?
Google: “The Plain Truth The Next American Revolution.’
Then, follow the links…
Gee I don’t know Mr. Prez. I’m not really that much into Muslims or Islam if you know what I mean. Matter of fact I have a pretty un-politically correct definition of a “good” Muslim, but I’ll bet you don’t want to hear it. Anyway, good luck in your attempt to turn our country into some sort of Western Muslim society. I don’t think the American people are quite that stupid.

The MSM used its full force to bring down G.W. Bush. The MSM then pulled every propaganda trick it could to put Obama in office and maintain his popularity. We’re in our current situation because the American people allowed themselves to be deceived by the MSM.
Obama is a creation of the MSM. Focus your anger on the MSM and the elites behind it.

Interesting bit of trivia: It’s my understanding that more people died in Buchenwald after the Communists took over than when it was run by the Nazis. I have no references to back this claim. It was something that I was told when I visited Buchenwald while it was still under communist German control.
In case you think this is all just innocent coincidence, look at what has happened to the price of oil over the past few months since his election.
Obama is the re-incarnation of Arafat, who was a genius at saying one thing out of one side of his mouth in Arabic, and the exact opposite out of the other side of his mouth in English.
..Obama said that if we counted the Muslims in the U.S., we’d be one of the largest Muslim countries in the world. He didn’t say we’re a Muslim country. But he was still wrong, clueless and asininely irrelevant, as usual. As “WhyamInotsurprised” shows above, the U.S. would NOT be one of the largest Muslim countries with a few million. Not even close. The top 7 seem to have more than 10 times the # of muslims than we have. Obama, as always, gets it completely wrong, trying to make points to idiots. What’s even more dangerous is how he’s doing EVERYTHING the OPPOSITE of what we need for our Capitalist economy to prosper again. He’s killing it and the MSM is fiddling away, clueless and adoring.
Two items for your amusement.
First, a documentary by Aaron Russo. “America: From Freedom to Fascism.”
It’s not such a crazy idea anymore…is it.
Second, You should see the movie, “Obsession: Radical Islam’s War Against the West.”
I assure you that it is time well spent.
You can find downloads of those movies on YouTube and Google Video as well.
Now that Obama is well on the way to destroying the country in every way possible – economically, militarily, diplomatically, legally (or to be more precise illegally) – and since, even after all that, his approval ratings in the polls are still high, why shouldn’t he feel more comfortable letting more of his Muslim roots emerge?
No one with political power is opposing him. NO ONE!
What he should have added – and, curiously, it would never have occurred to Obama to say it – is that muslims in the US enjoy freedoms, opportunities, security and rights not enjoyed by muslims in ANY other country in the world*, and most certainly not enjoyed by citizens of any “muslim” nation.
*except for – surprise, surprise – 2 or 3 anglophone countries.
It would be more precise to say that America has one of the largest populations of Muslims in the world.

Obama:
“…we’d be one of the largest Muslim countries in the world… If you add in all 57 states… ACORN will provide the stats.” {Sniff}
I would add, ‘the only good one, is a …………..’
Morton Doodslag has it exactly right: It’s not enough that BHO first tries to reassure the Muslim world by telling them we’re not a Christian nation (even though we’re predominantly a nation of Christians), now he has to go and tell them that we’re a Muslim nation. BHO is a traitor. What’s next? Sharia law? I for one will not submit (he says, as he hits the submit button.) OK, I for one will not submit to Sharia law.
“and they don’t want to see the first African American president fail.”
This fits exactly into the meme of the left. It also dovetails nicely with those that hold the same worldview as the 0.
Now if they just understood that he is no more African than your average thug from the hood. It still wouldn’t matter. The drunk teenagers have the wheel of the ship of state. Let us all pray that it doesn’t pull a Titanic.
Nothing like mentioning Obama and Islam in the same sentence to send conservatives into a stupid rage. Thanks for the free entertainment.
Our pleasure Boris. But I’ve always thought that the fun to be had at this site is reading the fretful posts of the left, who worry, deep down, that heretical ideas might lead to dancing.
You know it’s bad when you find yourself missing someone like Clinton in the oval office!!!
He could claim that everybody in America had two left feet, knowing perfectly well that nobody will call him on it. Nothing to do but marvel at mounting tower of this clown’s bs.
Obama needs to be impeached or better to be taken out of office with the eligibility question. With that Joe Biden will be President for three months while a special election takes place. When Sarah Palin becomes President, which I truly hope happens, then we can all rest easy knowing we have someone who is not a narcissist, but an American who LOVES her country. Palin is a woman who works for the people and not the other way around.
We don’t need a Muslim dictator. We need an American as President.
Here we have it, ladies and gents, the reason Obama got elected is because of ObamaZombies like 110. Boris. Boris the Obamazom. Never forget this face of evil most banal.
Them Muslim freaks may be crazy, they may be fanatical murderers, but they are not stupid, they see a panderer and surely know how to use him. And the American liberal media loves him, thank Allah for Fox. Allah Akbar
The president must be counting all those who voted for him, alive as well as dead, all those who submitted to his way of thinking, as muslum. How else could he defend saying what he said.
In response to president Obama saying we need to learn more about Islam, I would remind the president we did, after the twin towers fell, learn much about Islam, as provided by Islamic scholars as printed by Islamic presses, as we prepared to go to war against Al Queda.
In trying to learn why Osama was an apostate, we learned a great deal about Islam. More is appears than what president Obama learned or the Reverend Imam Wright explained in those twenty years of suffering through Sunday sermons.
We are now in the beginning of the holy war. The holy war will continue until Jesus returns. This is my belief, there is no other explanation. We are in the beginning of the end of the world as we know it.
The Muslims are evil and on the side of Satan. Things will continue to get worse. I could be wrong, but it is my belief from reading my bible. Christians and Jews will be beheaded, and persecuted for their beliefs.
I know that the United States is not mentioned in the bible prophecies. There could be a few reasons why, but I think our government will unite with the evil ones against the holy land of Israel. We could be destroyed, maybe that is why we are not in the prophecies, I do not know.
Read the news and read the bible, because it is coming together.
I could be wrong, but just in case I will be alert and ready.
BJP@114,
We need an American as President!
Says it all. Perhaps the rallying cry and clarion call going forward?
Before it gets really bad the rapture will come, because he will take us home and we will not have to live through the worst of it. This is my belief.

I get the feeling that only after Obama gets his rude awakening – which he will; it’s just a matter of when and where it happens, and what form it takes – will he, however reluctantly, unambiguously reveal what sort of President he really is.
The real test is coming soon enough. What will Obama do if Israel doesn’t dance to his tune? Will he cut off munitions to Israel. And if he does, will he be inadvertently driving Israel to use nukes in desperate self-defense?
Obama’s reign is going to be one of devastating unintended consequences. And the ones he intends will be devastating enough.
Buckle your seatbelts (while you still have something substantial to be buckled to). Things are going to blow — in every sense of the word.
Of course he will sell us into dhimmitude!!
For God’s sake no one will even bother to investigate the tens – maybe hundreds of millions of dollars worth of illegal campaign contributions that his campaign for office received from the Islamist world. We have been so screwed that there is no possible way we will ever survive this disaster.
Few people realize we are actually totally bankrupt. The money is without value, our corporations gone or in the process of being socialized and sold off to other countries in whole or in part.
Barry is about “restorative justice” – to return the world to the balance that existed prior to the rise of the West (evil, conquering white men) and to remove the stain that Western Civilization inflicted on the world.
#118 is on the right track though – there is no reference to the US of any sort in any of the end-times prophecies (other than maybe the mountain of fire falling into the ocean and burning up 1/3 of the ships, 1/3 the green things, and killing 1/3 of mankind). We are already toast by then, either way.

“No one with political power is opposing him. NO ONE!”
This is what is screaming at me as well.
All our current officer holders would have to do to get a groundswell of strong response would be to issue a daily press release saying only 2 things each day:
1. “I support the Constitution of the United States of America today!”
2. “I do not support what Barack Obama said toay, ‘Include his current anti-America, destroy-the-United-States activity of the day here’.”
That politician would be a shoo-in for 2010 or 2012 office (of their pick, probably)…
Of course, they would also become the immediate target of the MSM and the White House press room goon squad, who would probably give out their home address and telephone number to ACORN’s bus tours, pitchforks provided at no charge.
Why, why, why? are elected officials SILENT?
We don’t even have to take names to keep track: NONE of them is speaking up in a common sense, everyday, liberty-loving way.

I’d respond to this bit of stupidity, but I have to sacrifice a kitten to His Dark Highness.
Pandering, groveling, & begging–for what? Approval, popularity? It’s clear to me President Obama hates America with this speech. The irony is he is the Commander-in-Chief of the United States of America.
What 118/120 said….
Old Testament prophecies (and New Testament teaching), whether focused on Israel or the entire world, are indeed today’s headlines.
The advance information thus provided certainly offsets confusion and fear we may feel, but it definitely does not mean we will “go along to get along”.
There have pretty consistent positions taken by posters who verbalize Biblical perspectives, and I appreciate that.
We will stand in our personal faith as in Psalm 48:14 “For this is God, our God forever and ever; He will be our guide even to death.”
We are anti-dictator, anti-abortion, pro-Israel, Constitution-supporting Americans who WILL keep fighting for America as long as there is a way to fight, standing alongside all who love America.
And then we will die for America, if necessary, alongside all who love America.
“Life must be very exciting when you are paranoid and delusional.”
Spoken like a fascist confronted with unpleasant truth. And don’t worry, things will get plenty exciting for you soon enough. Obamazoms will suffer the same as the rest of us — unless you happen to be one of the elites, which of course you aren’t.
A former Constitutional Law professor who doesn’t know the First Amendment can be elected president of the United States. Is this a great country or what?
I don’t live in a Muslim Nation, and never will.
Soetoro is correct, when we take into the account the 57th state of the union which is completely Muslim.
Will the American press accompany Obama and get pics of his “off the record” visit to Mecca?
I will not submit.
Charles 86 “I wouldn’t be surprised if Obama gave his speech in Cairo in perfect Arabic.”
I wouldn’t be surprised if he ends up in a minaret doing the call to prayer. Then comes down, declares himself to be the Mahdi, and jets off to Mecca to circle the Kabbah a few times and get in a quick round of Stoning of the Devil.
I agree – being on the delusional and paranoid side of things is really exciting. Now I see what all the fuss was about during GW’s admin. Personally I think we have the better entertainment, the better figment. But to each his own.
Ahhh Boris, we’re not laughing at you personally, just the position you’ve chosen. Honestly! Now that you’ve taken the water temp readings you can go now, and report back to your “dark masters”. The meals not fully cooked, at least not yet. Be patient, like me.
Every Muslim must make a trip to Mecca before they die.
Will he bow down and worship the Black Mecca Rock from outer space
therefore declaring his allegiance to Allah?
If he does,
will Joe (hair plugs) Biden be sober enough to take the pledge of office away from an Islamic leader?
Folks,
Please look at President Obama’s actions through the prism of 4GW.
I believe American Muslims with the exception of the nation of Islam can have a positive effect of the “Ummah” outside the USA.
I have to go to work now but hope to return and discuss further.
I leave you with this thought: There is a war within Islam between the good and the evil just as there is a similar war within Christendom. Remember the Old Testament is a history of the Jews, The Chosen People who annihilated all opposition when they had the power. Jew, Christian and Muslim history is replete with examples. Human history is replete with similar examples.
Jihad is an improper term for what terrorists do. The arabic word for criminal مجرم needs to be inserted into the anti terror lexicon.
Salaam eleikum Y’all!
This fool Egobama thinks grand speeches change realities. As if the world were that simple. Egobama thinks that the world actually funtions like an ivory tower thinktank.
As if nations, countries, religions and men of power funtioned like precise chemical reactions or physics equations.
The Muslim Umma will regard the attempt at self identification by Nobama as a profound sense of weakness. A show of weakness is considered to be a sign that thier diety is not pleased with the weak party and has delivered the weak party to the faithful of the Umma.
Weakness with these wild people invites more war and NOT the opposite. Israel/Arabs, India/Pakistan, Former Yugoslavia, Armenia/Azerbijan and on and on.
These savage wild people have taken the world back to a combination of mentalities from the middle ages and WW2. Holy wars, dreams of world conquest, intended genocide of whole peoples and nations, intentional acts and fantasies of fulfillling some warped personal vision of a messianic age.
Only this times they have technology that they are not morally advanced to handle. They never invented it, they stole the technology. They do not have the equivalent morality to understand the ramifications of technology. Its literally as if a bedouin from the 7th century arabian peninsula were given permission to press the launch button on nukes.
For what its worth, if the USA cannot understand what principles it stands for it is doomed. For it cannot defend those principles.
Marzouq the Redneck Muslim:
I leave you with this thought: How did Islam spread in the following areas?
1- North Africa
2- Asia Minor
3- India
4- Pakistan
5- The Levant
6- Balkans
7- Persia
War, conquest and submission. Thats how.
So sorry to spoil your reality.
Insightful comments, including, but not limited to:
The Left has installed a genuine traitor.
A teleprompter in one hand, a gazing mirror in the other.
Narcissus redux.
He could claim that everybody in America had two left feet, knowing perfectly well that nobody will call him on it. Nothing to do but marvel at mounting tower of this clown’s bs.
In response to president Obama saying we need to learn more about Islam, I would remind the president we did, after the twin towers fell, learn much about Islam…
This recalls Obama telling us we need to learn a foreign language, especially Spanish. (pandering to Hispanics even then, pandering still with Sotomayor)
In instructing us to learn about Islam, Obama’s condescension is palpable. Many of us undertook study of Islam post 911, to see what could possibly be up in the ideology used by the highly unstable Mohammed Atta and friends to attempt to justify their mission.
Recall Michelle Obama’s (condescending) remark during the campaign that Barack was going to take us out of our comfort zone.
Man, ain’t that the truth, but I doubt it’s happening in the way Michelle intended.
Let’s try and keep the discussion civil. I don’t think much purpose is served by describing Islam per se as evil. I think evil is as evil does. Right now there are lots of dysfunctional memes that have grown not only out of Islam but out of the Western tradition as well, such as totalitarian communism. And the totalitarian impulses whatever their lineage are I think intertwining in the interests of their own memetic survival. I think that before this crisis is over, and it has scarcely begun, that we will have changed our definition of friend and foe several times over. This is about good and evil, though Boris scoffs at the idea, but not in the way he imagines.
…good, link-rich TNR article here, h/t instapundit.
Wow. All of these comments are hilarious and frightening at the same time.
So delusional, almost all of you.
The United States cannot go around unilaterally smashing all opposition. That’s what GW did, and look where it got us. Diplomacy is the only answer. Wake up and smell reality.
79,
We have a winner, folks. Just like the “national dialog on race” let’s bring it on. But not according to the script. Please, please let’s all learn all about the dirty laundry of islam.
Let me give some of my own opinions about the last few posts:
It was obvious to me that Clinton was a front man for China. All the subtle but strange murders, financial transactions and technology transfers and sellouts (to China), were funded by China. Originally, I thought the Arkansasides were done by his minions, but soon knew them to be done by the Chinese and (more importantly) Chinese money. This same money silenced, threated and shutdown opponents and most every attempt to uncover itself.
Now comes 0Bama, I’ve stated here and elsewhere that I have no question, in my mind that he was elected by foreign money. One difference between this and Clinton is that this money was OPEC (ME varities). Another difference is that this money springs from the religion of peace, and most folks understand how very threatening that is. But, just in case, let’s just say those people are _far_ more dangerous than the Chinese. Suicide blast, head chops, rape and divine approval of it all…
So, if freedom and truth was tortured into oblivion by Clinton/China, how much more so is OBama/OPEC? One must open their eyes, to _see_ the raw earthly power, harnassed by scores of hundred billions of dollars. Money the aristocratic fools and traitors ship to our enemies, day over day.
Diplomacy is the only answer. Wake up and smell reality.
Diplomacy is fine.
Lies to ingratiate yourself just prior to traveling to Riyadh and Cairo are demeaning to the country you purport to represent.
He may be the manchurian cadidate.
re: anti – delusional
I see that you are no stranger to history, as it’s many lessons demonstrate the futility of smashing opponents.
Be patient but a while longer. All good things to those who wait.
So is he a commie or a Muslim manchurian candidate? Take your pick.
We’ve now had 8 years of fighting and much of Muslim world is now pushing away from Islamic radicalism. If we now have a president who can further disarm the Muslim mainstream with some sweet talking, then what’s really wrong with that?
The “accept democracy for we’ll turn your nation into a radioactive isotope ranch” talk doesn’t always work.
Boris, let me ‘splain it to you. When the POTUS makes a grave mathematical error, on the order of 2+2=17, it’s a big deal. At least it is to those of us who can cypher.
But then again, you’re one of those scientifically illiterate global warming cultists, aren’t you? There may be help for you at a community college in one of those 57 states, but it’s probably too late to learn how to add.
Now go ahead again, and illuminate us as to how 1% makes any country a “muslim country”. And while we’re on the subject, was it just hunky-dory when Reagan said that America was a Christian country?
“Wake up and smell reality.”
So tell us, please, How does reality smell from your plug-in at Dear Leader’s nether region?
One hopes all our new muslim-green-marxist sympathizers will keep in front of themselves the fact that all this drama is taking place on a high material base built up over time by the global spread of the ideas and methods of hard-working risk-taking profit-seeking free-market westerners.
Lamentably, the four horsemen will still ride every so often, but no longer regularly through every little village suffering a season of bad weather.
Randy:
I wouldn’t know. I’m not an Obama nutswinger. I do, however, think this foreign policy approach is way better than the destructive xenophobic policies of the previous administration.
How does your ultra-nationalistic delusion smell? It must be produced by some sort of drug that is addicting and EXTREMELY mind altering.
148. Anti-delusion: Wow! Gore invented the internet and GW Bush was the first to “go around unilaterally smashing all opposition”… I want to study your history where the world was sooooo peaceful and wonderful until that rotten GW Bush came along! NOT!
This is an interesting article from Prophecy News Watch.
http://www.prophecynewswatch.com/May28/2891.html
159; that’s a question, alright –can any good come of false history?
We may very well be witnessing the culmination of the reversal of 800 years of history,
1215AD, 1689AD, 1776AD . . .
“After forty years experience of the administrative system established by Henry II the men who now confronted John had advanced beyond the magnates of King Stephen’s time. They had learned to think intelligently and constructively. In place of the King’s arbitrary despotism they proposed, not the withering anarchy of feudal separatism, but a system of checks and balances which would accord the monarchy its necessary strength, but would prevent its perversion by a tyrant or a fool. The leaders of the barons in 1215 groped in the dim light towards a fundamental principle. Government must henceforward mean something more than the arbitrary rule of any man, and custom and the law must stand even above the King. It was this idea, perhaps only half understood, that gave unity and force to the baron’s opposition and made the Charter which they now demanded imperishable.”
Churchill, Winston, S., The Birth of Britain, © Dodd, Mead & Company, New York, 1956, p. 253
America ain’t floggin’ muslim yet it may take 50 years at the rate these clowns are going then again American’s might just get tired of these backwards, superstitious worshippors of a disgusting religion telling everyone how to live and die and kick them right out of the country.
“I do, however, think this foreign policy approach is way better than the destructive xenophobic policies of the previous administration.”
You give yourself away, even though you hide behind a smug screen-name.
This is not good. Not good at all.
Don’t forget to kow tow bow in Cairo!
All this frantic complaining…not helpful, folks. And way too late. Didn’t you receive your complimentary copy of the Koran, with the cover letter personally signed by The One? A good chunk of the stimulus money has gone into a Government Printing Office contract to get this new controlling text out to everybody here in Dhimmi Country.
The fundamental conflict is between countries which have governments, and governments which have countries. Domestically, the problem is that, just as democracy will survive only “until the people realize they can vote themselves the public fisc,” republicanism – instinct with checks and balances – will survive until enough of the people, brainwashed (forgive me) by leninism and license, vote themselves out of even as little discipline as is required to maintain a republic. Unfortunately, we seem to be testing the limits of where the slippery slope of both tracks begins; financially, we may be past the point of no return. I also worry that a nation in such a state as ours is incapable of correctly interpretting the threat posed by governments-with-countries, acting in concert or alone, let alone its own true state of affairs. Some part of me still believes that abuses of our principle of Free Speech – through the media – will be our downfall. The people are confused. Fortunately this nation is a great inheritance, with great inertia, and not so easily squandered.
Remember: the USA required a World War 2 to get itself out of Depression, and the world not seized by Communism required the Our Business is Business Nation to secure its prosperity *and* stave off the seemingly inexorable Communist advance – which meanwhile almost no one these days seems to believe was ever real, or exactly what that threat was.
To all of those who believe out of hand that some of us are paranoid, consider that we just may be looking out further ahead than you because we spend much of our time trying to figure out what really happened further (or just) behind. Our circumstances are not good. We do not have a “right” to anything, and there is no assurance of progress or prosperity.
One point on which the current occupant of the casa blanca seems not be be clear: A slim but sufficient majority of the electorate of the USA chose him.
As far as is known at this time – Officially, that is – not a single, solitary Muslim in any OTHER country voted for B. Hussein Obama as their leader.
anti-delusion: I fail to see how supporting the dysfunctional regimes of the current middle east is going to get anything different than we got last time.
Remember, Bush’s policies were a reaction to a way of approaching the middle east that didn’t work. Didn’t work catastrophically.
There are points to debate, and good arguments to be made on either side. But this stunt of describing the US as muslim is first plain wrong, and second, well, delusional.
Derek
Um, since the administration seems presently to be stressing, emphasizing, and generally crowing from the rooftops our leader’s Islamic legacy, training, experience, heritage, and affinities…
It must be okay to speak his actual given name again.
Obama seems to be concentrating on his international celebrity, rather than his “home” and the facts. A statement like this should be viewed with great cynicism, because it symbolizes his narcissism.
Obama must believe that if he says it, anybody will believe it.
Dan/168/para #3; see Stone Age Genocide
In admitting that the US is a Muslim country has Obama repudiated the accomplishments of Battle of Tours in 732 and, in effect, given the appearance of accepting the extension the caliphate to include North America to the Muslim world ?
Sorry, weren’t you on the distribution list? That memo went out just before inauguration.

Thus the drilling ban. He blows a lot of smoke about energy independence through pipe-dream technologies and CAFE standards which can’t be met, and thus are simply another revenue stream, but by keeping domestic oil and realistic alternatives (such as nuke) off limits, the advantage accrues to OPEC. Imports of oil will increase as long as the donx are calling the shots. Mark my words.
How much he’s getting paid by OPEC isn’t clear. What is clear is that they’re getting one hell of a return on whatever investment they have in him.
179. Excellent and obvious (to some) corollary!

Re: Marzouk @ 142:
I’m very much looking forward to hearing more of your thoughts on this. Ignore the hysteria and the frothy saliva all over the rhetorical floor. It all amounts to nothing more than anything else you might have wiped off of your Justin boots a time or two…. There are a lot of folks on this blog who would both enjoy and benefit from an informed discussion. Having many muslim friends and acquaintances who are NOT out to “dhimmify” me any more than I am out to make them swear an oath of fealty to the Pope, I would be interested to learn your perspective.
Wretchard is right. We are gazing upon the threshold of a time that may require considered, resolute action. Action without insight is worse than useless. Insight begins with accurate, objective understanding. Understanding begins with mutual respect of the experiences and considered opinions of men and women of goodwill everywhere. It is time for us all to get a grip, and pull together.

Operative statement.
Obama’s gotten a pass on so much, why not go for broke and declare the US of A “one of the largest Muslim countries on the planet” !? (attempting to flatter the Saudi king in advance of hanging out at the king’s ranch)
I’d say “people” should start looking into this president’s mental stability.
Sorry to make matters worse, but for anyone who hasn’t seen this little gem, it’s worth being informed. Our administration, bit by bit, is selling this country down the river.

Obama: MUSLIM Call to PRAYER One of the PRETTIEST Sounds on Earth
http://www.arkjournal.com
In a free-ranging interview with the New York Times, Obama described the Muslim call to prayer as “one of the prettiest sounds on Earth at sunset.”
The Times’ Nicholas Kristof wrote Obama recited, “with a first-class [Arabic] accent,” the opening lines of the Muslim call to prayer. The first few lines of the call to prayer state:
“Allah is Supreme! Allah is Supreme! Allah is Supreme! Allah is Supreme!
I witness that there is no god but Allah
I witness that there is no god but Allah
I witness that Muhammad is his prophet… ”
http://www.arkjournal.com/2008/06/obama-muslim-call-to-prayer-one-of.html
With the permission of the author, I’m sharing the following passages from Apsnyblog:
“Islam has become the predominant faith for approximately a sixth or more of the world’s population, including substantial communities in China, Indonesia, Pakistan and Bengladesh, Sri Lanka, Turkey, Iran (which is Persian not ARAB) and of course, all the Arab countries of the eastern Mediterranean Sea and North Africa. That is scores of very different populations, each with their own distinct histories and customs, which persist along with the overlay of Islamic Sharia law and traditions.
But throughout the Islamic world, more in some places than in others, brothers and fathers murder women of their own families who have been raped, whether the rape was by a total stranger or a family member. This is called an “Honor Killing.” The culture reckons any sexual activity whatsoever outside the narrow bounds allowed by Islamic law and custom have rendered the woman permanently and irretrievably soiled, defiled and ruined.
In many areas where Islamic fanatics rule, young men patrol the streets as enforcers, ready to thrash women with canes for allowing so much as an ankle or arm to show from their clothing, or throw acid in the face of any woman brazen enough to show it in public.”
Since the Islamic Revolutionary Government has taken over management of Iran, many thousands of women have been hung from convenient construction cranes for the crimes of adultery, fornication, and insufficient modesty. Back in the early 1960’s the film “Zorba the Greek” was widely criticized for depicting an isolated Greek village stoning a widow after she had an affair with a visiting British tourist. Greek celebrities and diplomats of the day assured the rest of the world that such customs were a thing of the distant past. But they are alive and well in Islamic culture, just as slavery and amputation of the hand of a thief are still practiced in some Islamic countries.”
I think the figure of many thousands of women should be checked for accuracy.
Of course, if it’s only a few HUNDRED women that have been executed in Iran for adultery, fornication, or insufficient modesty, that changes everything!
Carol, note link upstaors @ 135 or so, the damage-comntrol man for the admin is none other than John Deutch, the Clinton CIA director exposed for releasing CIA top secrets into the early web back in the 90s. Figure THAT one out as anything but giggling lefties –much like giggling Sotomayor, re creating law from the bench.

“This man is an ignorant. pompous non-American ass who needs to leave the country or go to jail, never mind being president. Get this idiotic moron out.”
Uh, what? Our previous president was an ignorant, pompous, stubborn, ultra-conservative ass who dug our great country a hole so deep, I’m not sure we’ll climb out of it anytime soon. Obama certainly isn’t making any great strides in that direction, but he’s infinitely better than GW.
Anyway, the ignorance in these comments is epic. Have you ever met a real muslim person? Ever? Based on all these comments, I highly doubt it. Everyone seems to be referring to the actions and beliefs extremist muslims, a very small portion of muslims overall, and saying that all muslims should be persecuted. Does everyone here really think we should we go around stomping out all muslim countries around the world? That’s a bit of an overreaction, is it not? Our world opinion can’t afford another Iraq.

Regardless of the perspectives from which we come, to the extent that we share recognition of the immediate danger to our nation, concerted action is necessary.
Wouldn’t it be nice if some of our Congressmen and women who took an oath to uphold our Constitution and protect our nation would be part of it.
Barack’s Saudi Travel log:
“Arrived in the Holy Land…..feels damn good to be home.”
“On way from airport saw the decapitated rotting corpse of a criminal hanging from a crucifix. He had his head sewn back on though. How cool! Allahu akbar”
“I can’t wait to meet the King again (no, not Elvis). Michelle said I should bow deeper this time and kiss his ring. She has a point, since we are on holy soil.”
“I got an I-pod with all my speeches for the King. I hope he gives me a sword of Allah like he gave the Pope. Maybe the one they used on the dead guy I saw on the way in. Sweet!”
“Obama certainly isn’t making any great strides in that direction, but he’s infinitely better than GW.”
Whatever his motivations, Obama is presenting himself and his country as weak-kneed and spineless. He may be winning respect of enlighted people like you, but in the real world he looks every bit the weak sister. And we will pay dearly for this. But don’t take my word for it. It will become apparent to the world all too soon. And oh yes, I would love to be wrong on this.
Cuba is a big Muslim country too. Well at least until they close Gitmo. Right after the Democrats gained power I informed the Elephant bar that I was going to open the “Berkley Bait and Burqua shop”. I specialized in tie died Burqas and slightly used prayer rugs. I just got a load of rugs in from upper SWAT but must offer them at discounted prices due to the drone holes. I hope Obama is right, it should be great for business. You will know he speaks the truth when you notice in the Cochran Firm tv spots that they have hired sharia shysters.
Everyone seems to be referring to the actions and beliefs extremist muslims…
I thought (most) everyone on this thread was/is referring to some statements uttered yesterday by the President of the United States to France’s Canal.
Referencing the outrageously absurd and patently false statements of a President, not engaging in the old standby debate at all as to what proportion of Muslims have signed on to the agenda of violent jihad.
Obama in Saudi Arabia. Love the part about how the press notes that Obama “descended his plane.” Descended?
“Goodness gracious. That’s something there.” is also an amusing comment from our leader.

The two are not mutually exclusive. There is a lot of Marxist thinking that has been grafted onto Islam in Middle Eastern thinking these days, the fruit of Soviet attention to the region after WWII.

Right, Fox. And the Nazis had Muslim “advisors” when they were ironing out their racial extermination plans.

Non sequitur. Even if everything in that outburst were true, it has nothing to do with the statement that it supposedly refutes.
Can we please flush the stoners and at least get some trolls with three digits in their IQ?
tanstaafl:
Go back and reread these comments. A very large number directly refer to the actions and beliefs of extremist muslims. For example, see posts 189, 185, 163. Forget about post numbers, the premise of this conversation as a whole infers fear and hatred of a religion you know nothing (or maybe very little, if we’re being generous). If you can’t see that, well, I suggest you go back to school and learn some reading comprehension.
Obama’s data about the number of muslims in the USA certainly seem way off, which is poor form. But for you people to be somehow justifying that he be impeached (without any legal basis for doing so) or even imprisoned (what??!), you’ve got to be out of your minds.
Hey, let’s not forget the atrocities that the GW administration, and the innumerable christian and catholic leaders throughout history committed in the name of a different god.
I ask you bible-thumpers…what’s the difference?
Randy:
Let’s agree to disagree, shall we? What you say makes us appear “weak-kneed and spineless”, to me makes us appear like a MEMBER of the world community, not the de facto dictator of the world community. We can no longer get away with doing whatever the hell we want to whoever the hell we want without any repercussions. 9/11 proved just that. We should have tried real, open, (gasp) friendly diplomacy ages ago.
Honestly what we NEED to do is stop funding Israel and their unlawful occupation and settlements in the West Bank and Gaza Strip. That one act would go farther than any words that Obama spews.
Well, the subject here isn’t all those things, “waver”, so maybe you could stay on topic and set the tone for the rest of us.
Obama’s data about the number of muslims in the USA certainly seem way off, which is poor form.
He offered no “data”. He uttered a baldfaced lie.
If your President assumes you’re starstruck, obsequious and servile enough to make excuses for him, I guess he’s not too far off the mark, given your observation.
Boomer:
It’s not a non sequitur at all. I should have broken that statement up into separate sentences so that you could have digested it. Sorry about that, I assumed (incorrectly) that there was a reasonable level of intelligence here. For the life of me, I’m not sure why, based on these ridiculous comments…but I digress.
Anyway, there was no need to directly refute any of the claims made in the statement to which I was replying, since they were all patently ridiculous. Again, I thought that would be understood, but like I’ve already said, I overestimated the average intelligence of those posting here.
For your information, 1) I’m not a stoner and 2) my IQ is 141, but since I have no way to prove either to you, you can go on thinking I’m a stoner idiot, and continue to live in your cave in fear of the world around you.
Wretchard, Thanks!
Highlander #182, When I have some more time.
Mad Fiddler #185, That sH^! makes me sick too! Those are not the actions of true Muslims. Those are the actions of despots who use Muslim priestcraft to gain power over their subjects. Remember how Saddam went all “Muslim” prior to OIF? Remember that Quran printed in his blood?
The evil is thus: The literacy rate in the Islamic ME is very low, especially in Pakistan and Afghanistan. Take a litterate “imam” with a “populist agenda” who wants to start a cult of personality. He teaches the garbage to those illiterates and agitates them like they did during the “Muhammad (PBUH) cartoon” fiasco. Look how those illiterates are always used to riot, burn and destroy. Look how they blow up each other’s mosques/houses of worship!
I believe President Bush wanted to liberate Iraq because the level of education and literacy is more conducive to bringing it into the civilized world community.
Yes, I am a Muslim! I raised my index finger and took the Shihada understanding the positive aspects of Islam. I am also a Libertarian, fiscally conservative and Constitutionally conservative. I love the United States of America and the U.S. Constitution. I love Dixie!
The fears expressed on this thread seem paranoid and exhibit a lack of faith in the Constitution of the United States of America. The mouth foaming hate is no solution. If President Obama crosses the line, there will be impeachment hearings! That is my belief on the Obama issue.

How can I, when every single post is a thinly-veiled attack against a religion that nobody knows a thing about? You should be preaching to everyone else that has posted here, rather than coming down on me for calling people out on it.
Islam is the religion of the beast and therefore those who practice it have the mark of the beast (so much for those computer chip worries). Many a Muslim has escaped this death by accepting Jesus Christ the Son of the Living God.
The mark of a good Muslim is telling the biggest lies and then bigger and bigger lies and finally astonishing lies. Is Barack getting close yet? Remember Bagdad Bob? Are we astonished yet? Telling lies is an art form approved by the Koran when you are dealing with the infidel.
The real God who cannot lie encourages no such behavior.
The liar in chief is busy giving away the wealth of the American people in an arrogant and evil fashion. How far have we fallen that we would accept this for one second? No he didn’t start it; this was started decades ago by the godless left. But now they have found their accelerant to do for them what they can’t do for themselves and that is: lie that big.
The important thing to remember here, is how these worshippers of the big lie will all end up (if they don’t repent); how hot is the core of a star?
14 million Kelvin.
Be patient it won’t be long now. It’s been a long time coming and the pent up energy is great. His vengeance will be swift and complete and there is only one place to hide.

Hehehehe. I can’t wait for Sasha & Malia to get their first niqab…it will keep all those nasty boys away. At first at least.”
“Had a “coming out” talk with Michelle. She said time is not right yet. The American ummah are not strong enough yet. Michelle….she knows how to call it!”
“Looking forward to amputation ceremony tomorrow in the public square. Some idiot is getting his hand chopped off for stealing a pair of blue jeans. Wonder if they’ll chop off his foot on the opposite side too. I think that’s encouraged for maximum shame. Didn’t know they can wear blue jeans in Mecca…the guys I guess, not the gals.”
“Also hear there might be a beheading. That would be cool! Imagine all that blood spurting from the jugular. Always wondered if the guys head was still conscious when it hit the ground. Allahu akbar!”
203:
You are just as much of a nutjob as any islamic extremist. Wow.
Multiple religions exist because there is no one god. Deal with it.
How can I…
Oh you could, flag waver. You could even stop typing and simply ponder your President’s words, get a feel for how weird and wrong they are as Presidential utterances.
You might even get an insight that would (briefly anyway) slow you down enough that you’d say something into this space besides the conventional litany of Leftist jargon.
(ok, I won’t hold my breath
)
Hey everyone … Look on the bright side! Now that America is no longer infested by infadels, we won’t have to worry about Iran nuking the hell out of us!
Gotta go now – got burkas in the wash and it just beeped to remind me to add the fabric softener.
Flag Waver, I agree we certainly have fundamental disagreements. What you see as being a “member of the world community” I see as a clever way of throwing off responsibility onto corrupt organizations like the UN. It’s a trick Obama wants to play. That way, Obama thinks he can escape blame when bad things happen. And you can be sure they will.
Bush had his screwups but he was very careful in waging the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. If you knew much about the legal limitations placed on our combat troops you would know that. Bush took great pains to reach out to Muslims. If you don’t believe that, then you must be getting your info from Leftwing propagandists on Sorros’ payroll.
I also strongly dispute your claim that 9/11 was a response to doing “whatever the hell we want to whoever we want.” Facts of history dispute youy on this as well.
And finally, I don’t for a second buy your false claim that stopping Israel’s “unlawful occupation and settlements” would be a positive. Again, history says different. Israel’s sworn enemies in the region will settle for nothing less than making Israel disappear.
In short, you’re repeating most of the Leftwing tropes that have little basis in reality.
So, yeah. We disagree. And for now we can do that openly, without fear. But that right must be fought for again and again. And we can’t leave that up to the “world community” if we want to keep such frreedoms.
Reliable sources tell me that King Abdullah will wear a condom.
#201. Marzouq the Redneck Muslim,
You sound like a “Bubba”, but how could you in all honesty revere a man like Muhammed?
You’ve read the Koran, Hadith & Sirah Rasul Allah, thus you must know Muhammed was nothing more than a sadistic terrorist gangster motivated by personal greed, lust and power.
Muhammed murdered, decapitated, amputated, mutilated, enslaved, looted & robbed, raped, lied, and committed genocide. He was a child rapist. Is this the example for Muslims like you? Is this your “al-insan al-kamil”, your “perfect man”?
Muhammed was an evil barbarian, the archetypal Islamic terrorist who himself proclaimed “I have been made victorious with terror”.
How could you want to emulate this vile pig?

“Hey, let’s not forget the atrocities that … the innumerable christian and catholic leaders throughout history committed in the name of a different god.”
As Ray said to Venkman,”You never studied.”
“we have to educate ourselves more effectively on Islam”
Remember September Eleven.
And to educate yourself, Hussein, read the books of Oriana Fallaci. She wrote the history of 1400 years of islamic invasions, brutality and horrors.
Thank you for the opportunity to comment.

I thought that was a joke…I kept looking at the address line, I thought I was on The Onion.
That was one of those “pick two out of three” things. You can’t have 1) a statement that incoherent, and 2) an IQ of 141, and 3) no drugs involved. Not unless the ejumucational system is a lot worser than I thunk.
AP-Yahoo news title:
“Obama seeks counsel of Saudi king, finishes speech”
Any comment would be below myself.
Thank you for the opportunity to comment.
Randy, the reason those wealthy Saudi/Egyptian guys and their muscle guys flew planes into bldgs. and so forth on september 11 was because they lacked “empathy”. (see below remarks of Barack Obama 1 week after september 11)
Empathy, precisely the quality of character this President seeks in a lifelong appointment to the supreme court.
We must also engage, however, in the more difficult task of understanding the sources of such madness. The essence of this tragedy, it seems to me, derives from a fundamental absence of empathy on the part of the attackers: an inability to imagine, or connect with, the humanity and suffering of others. Such a failure of empathy, such numbness to the pain of a child or the desperation of a parent, is not innate; nor, history tells us, is it unique to a particular culture, religion, or ethnicity. It may find expression in a particular brand of violence, and may be channeled by particular demagogues or fanatics. Most often, though, it grows out of a climate of poverty and ignorance, helplessness and despair.
We will have to make sure, despite our rage, that any U.S. military action takes into account the lives of innocent civilians abroad. We will have to be unwavering in opposing bigotry or discrimination directed against neighbors and friends of Middle Eastern descent. Finally, we will have to devote far more attention to the monumental task of raising the hopes and prospects of embittered children across the globe—children not just in the Middle East, but also in Africa, Asia, Latin America, Eastern Europe and within our own shores.
(uh oh, off topic, going off to hang my head in shame…adios for the nonce)
BTW, to be fair,
Isn’t materially different from GWB said. In fact, if anything, it’s a lot more candid and clear. It’s this ROP thing recycled and regurgitated, and frankly not very offensive. The only thing I find offensive about it is the implied “you flyover drooling morons” part that he didn’t say, but obviously meant.
The recent kerfuffle between Obama and Netanyahu over the settlement expansion begins to make some sense.
The meeting with Netanyahu occured just before the “muslim world tour’, really a diplomatic offensive aimed at deepening the divide between Iran, and radicals such as AQ, from the more ‘moderate’ states such as Egypt and Saudi. In order to sell that to the Muslim public he could not just walk out of the meeting with the Israelis without showing a rift of some sort.
I would bet that Netnayahu and Obama agreed to disagree over the settlements, with (now today) some minor easing of W Bank restrictions to demonstrate to the Muslim world that he is “no George Bush”, or “lackey of the Jews”. In six months the new housing will be built and the whole thing will be forgotten.
It is a dangerous road he is taking, playing both sides this way. I actually hope it works. I think the OBL message today betrays some nervousness on the part of the bad guys out there.

211:
Are you serious? Have you taken a SINGLE world history class?
208:
I could reply with the flip-side of the statement you just made. Almost every post in this thread is chock full of right-wing jargon. We can respect each other’s opinions and discuss this issue without resorting to the typical right vs. left arguments, which eventually leads to typical personal insults. I have tried, but I’m not getting much of a response beyond personal attacks, some of which are veiled, some of which are not. Also, I can make the same specious arguments that YOUR comments have no basis in reality. It’s very easy to make unilateral statements about something with no actual support than the “facts of history”.
I learn about current events from various sources, digest the information, and craft my own opinions from it. I hope you do the same.
What it comes down to, to me, is that we’ve tried one way for many years, and it hasn’t worked. It’s time to try something else. If it doesn’t work, we can try something different still.
Should that comment have been made? Probably not. Does it mean, like some people have said here, that he should be impeached and/or imprisoned? Absolutely, positively, unequivocally not.
Bear in mind I am open to change, so if world events change, my opinions can (and will) change. Rational thought allows me to react to situations and act accordingly.
There is no risk, whatsoever, of a fundamental islamic takeover of the US. Our freedoms are not going anywhere. Also, we can be a member of the world community without being in charge of it.
Dear Flag Waver,
Yes, I have met and had conversations, and enjoyed long acquaintances with Muslims, both in my youth, and as an adult. I spent five years as an undergraduate at a school attended by students from almost every country and culture, and my work both academically and professionally has put me in the company of folks from international backgrounds more than four decades.
There are many fine people who profess the faith of Islam. Among those there are many degrees of adherence to the strictures of the Qur’an. One key lesson I’ve have learned is that the Qur’an says what it says, and to pretend that it does not is delusional.
I began reading the Qur’an in 1988, after purchasing a translation the same week I bought my first Bible. As the internet has matured, I’ve regularly searched for more and more information. I’ve read from many sources, including discussion groups lead and moderated by Islamic scholars in which Muslims living in different countries debate Qur’anic principles, such as the proper punishment for apostasy or adultery, or duties of charity for fellow Muslims or for unbelievers, treatment of women, divorce, adultery, respect for other religions, et cetera.
I’ve read many passages from the Hadith – stories of the acts of the Prophet recounted by his companions, which add to gaps in his instructions given in the Qur’an; history of the life of Mohammed and the early years of Islam, the spread of the faith by military conquest from the Saudi peninsula in all directions of the compass into areas populated by Christians, Jews, Zoroastrians, Hindus, Buddhists, animists.
I’ll shut up for a while.
Boomer:
If you cannot understand that comment, I “thunk” it is your “ejumucational system” that has failed.
Go ask the closest 13 year-old around you to read that statement and break it down for you.
Fiddler:
Forgive me, I am not trying to be a jerk, but was there a point to all that? You know as well as I do that, regardless of the religion in question, there are those that follow it’s sacred works by the letter, and those that follow a more liberal interpretation.
While I fully admit I cannot back this up with any hard numbers, it seems reasonable to say that most muslims are not of the strict, extreme variety, the same way that most christians, jews, etc are not of the strict, extreme variety.
How many of your muslim friends have you gone out drinking with?
I really want to get a specific muslim friend (who loves these sorts of conversations) involved in this conversation, but I don’t know if I want to expose him to all this ignorant hate…
#220 Mad Fiddler: Wow, and thank you immensely for the detailed historical accounting of Islam.
Obama wanted us to learn more about Islam. I would say, after reading this, that I have learned as much as I care to learn.
223:
“I have learned as much as I care to learn.”
Then you are part of the problem.
One should never stop learning.
How can you disagree with something without really knowing anything more than what was presented by one person on an internet message board?
Flag – you said “what’s the difference?”
The thing is, we’ve been addressing the differences since sometime shortly after 9/11 when your point first arose. Turns out – if you’d taken any history classes – there’s quite a bit of difference on just about any level, but particularly on the level of doctrine and law.
Then there’s also the fact that there’s no contemporary self-consciously Christian threat comparable to the Islamist.
But I’m done responding to this kind of enervating passive-aggressive equivocation: if you don’t understand the difference at this point, it’s because you haven’t studied. Period. If you did study, I think you’d find it interesting, by the way, and there’d still be room for what appears to be your political sensibilities. Except, if you did study, we’d at least share a fundamentally unimpeachable common understanding about what exactly distinguishes the history of Islamic and Christian aggression, or however you’d characterize it. Sincerely. Because the first major problem to get over is the basic ignorance, which you basically seem to be in this regard.
Dear Marzouq the R,
I am especially moved by your courage in participation in a forum like this, as I am by the blog of a young lady who has left Islam, and makes her “apostasy” the primary focus of her posts and conversations.
You are absolutely right; it is a tiny fraction of the general Islamic population that has historically inflicted Jihad on the rest.
This has been true of most autocratic systems; a few dominate the masses, by using absolutely ruthless means.
I have great sympathy for people living under such rule. Presumably, American Muslims came here fleeing conditions they no longer wanted to govern their lives. At least that was true until recently. It seems a fair analysis to reckon that the BILLIONS of petrodollars, which have basically fallen into the laps of the House of Saud and other despots, have been used to extend their influence, and some of their Wahhabist madrassa graduates have been busy recruiting converts in U.S. prisons.
You could argue that, well, if the U.S. hadn’t so thoroughly screwed up, U.S. prisons wouldn’t be so ripe for Jihadist recruiting…
You could also argue that the generation of parents that lived through the Depression in trying to spare their kids the privations they suffered, overdid it, and created a generation of adult infants who expect someone else to change their diapers when they’re full.
You could even make a good case for the theory that the Commies have been putting “LDS” in the water supply (h.t. to Spock) in truckloads. That’s why someone who has to have shoes with no difference between left and right feet so he doesn’t alltime get them mixed up feels he has to announce his IQ.
After he tells Egypt that we are a muslim country he’ll add:
“as a matter of fact just this week a muslim brother gunned down two crusader infadels ALLALU AKBAR!”
225:
I absolutely agree with you when you say that “there’s no contemporary self-consciously Christian threat comparable to the Islamist”. It doesn’t mean that what other religions have done in the past can be ignored. “Period.” In the modern age, we can be more enlightened than people were in the past, and approach these issues in a more pragmatic way.
226:
I originally thought you were at least somewhat reasonable, compared to the rest of the people posting here, but alas, I gave you far too much credit. I should know better than to talk about reason and logic to the ignorant, paranoid, and hateful.
I merely replied to an insult about my IQ with my actual IQ. Furthermore, my left and right shoes are different. Now, getting them on the correct foot is a whole other issue…
Oh, I have one quick question: can anyone provide a single shred of evidence that supports the assertion that Obama is muslim?
Hello? Anyone?
Oh, that’s right, you can’t, because he’s not.
And one more question, theoretical this time: why would it matter if he were?
Before you respond, remember, muslim != islamic extremist.
tanstaafl, it’s clear from those two paragraphs you quoted (216) that Obama believes his academic double-talk and ponderous platitudes are imbued with magic and will change the world. Such empty rhetoric is worthless. You don’t change the world with words but with deeds.
Thank you Flag Waver for pointing out that current day Christian fanatics in the United States of America are no different than Islamist fanatics in the Middle East. I get confused sometimes. Which ones flew planes into the Twin Towers? Which ones strap on bombs and go to their local market? Which ones stone a woman for being raped? Which ones stone homosexuals? Which ones make the women cover up in bed sheets?
Please tell me? I’m so confused….
Nevermind, I think I’ve figured it out.
God Bless you.
Obama is a Muslim because he bows to the King of Saudi Arabia, something only Muslims do. Obama is a Muslim because he can recite the call to prayer in perfect Arabic. Obama is a Muslim because he talks about being one, constantly, abroad. Obama is a Muslim because he calls America one of the largest Muslim nations on Earth. Obama is a Muslim because he apologizes for America. Obama is a Muslim because he’s never in a Christian church, but is always ready to refer respectfully to Louis Farrakhan and the Nation of Islam. Obama is a Muslim because he hates dogs and would not for years buy his daughters one. Obama is a Muslim because he OK’s Iran’s nuclear waeapons program whil proposing to eliminate our own.
I could go on, and on, and on. But Obama is a Muslim. He’s always been a Muslim. He was born a Muslim. He was raised a Muslim. He was at a Mosque to get off Drugs while at Columbia. He went to Pakistan while at Columbia, one Summer, to participate in Jihad. He’s a Muslim.
As for Islam, there is no possibility of peace with it, save total military domination by the West. This is because of the Polygamy, making sure that a few man have all the women and most men have none. For a man deprived of women, (and no, prostitutes and porn do not suffice) he must become a big man. The only real sure route to that is by becoming a terrorist chief or subcheiftan. Heck look at Obama. His polygamous, drunken father was the classic Muslim Big Man. Obama has over 17 IIRC brothers and sisters, by I think five different women his father married at one point or another.
What’s in the Koran, as unhelpful as it may be, is of little practical matter since Most Muslims have not the foggiest notion of what’s actually in it in the first place. But the polygamy is a powerful driver. All of the 19 9/11 Hijackers save one were single men unable to marry in the Muslim way. The one married man, married to a German girl, wanted to back out and required much threats and arm twisting to get back into the plot.
Flag, you are right about one thing: It doesn’t matter if Obama calls himself a Muslim or not. The point is, he is kowtowing to Muslims while stiffing the Jews and pissing off a lot of Christians. In other words, it’s clear where his sympathies lie, and they are largely anti- traditional-American. Evil whites and Europeans (and the evil rich) must be taught a lesson by the all-powerful megalomaniac. After he’s done remaking America in his image, I suppose he will try to do the same with the rest of the globe.
If you want to buy into BHO’s BS, knock yourself out. I pass.
Wow, this has got to be the quickest that at thread’s reached into the hundreds on The Belmont Club, evah!
232:
How many thousands of innocent civilians have been killed by our unnecessary war on terror? How many hundreds of innocent civilians were killed by Israel during their most recent “response to Palestinian aggression”? Are their lives any less valuable than those in the WTC?
Also, what about the fanatics who bomb abortion clinics and murder doctors?
You haven’t figured anything out.
No thank you, there is no god.
How appropriate that Lord Zero should announce to the world that the US is one of the Muslim nations!…even more appropriate on the eve of his speech in Egypt to the Muslim world.
Egypt…the country of great Egyptian Empire and its pharaohs. Egypt, the land of Ra, the Sun god, whose rays of light (ever seen an Obama poster?) give life and truth to men. Amun-Ra, creator of the universe, who ruled the world via his great-grandson “Osiris” even as Ra ruled over the gods. Yes, Lord “O” ruled the earth as the son of the gods…who brings light to all.
How appropriate that the new Lord Zero, from ancient lore, should make his appearance and speak his words of wisdom from the house of the pharaohs…the seat of Ra, the sun god.
Yes sirrreeeeee, the deification of Lord Zero is right on track!
“No thank you, there is no god.”
God does indeed exist. It’s you I have douts about.

Ms. Attitude. Don’t argue with Flag Waver. He’s a genius. He said so himself. IQ of 141. Can’t write a coherent sentence, but neither can his POTUS.
“No thank you, there is no god.”
God does indeed exist. It’s you I have abouts about.
I’m assuming you meant “doubts” when you said “abouts”?
And no, god does not exist. The sooner the world realizes this, the sooner there will be peace.
I would never discuss my IQ, which is enormous, but not as enormous as my handsomness, wealth, accomplishments, and lovemaking technique and equipage.

Fortunately, we didn’t allow fifth column elements to peddle propaganda at them trying to make them believe we were out to get all Germans. The adherents of the Democratic Party have been doing just that for the last 8 years.
“Obama’s data about the number of muslims in the USA certainly seem way off, which is poor form.”
His data? Poor form? Alert, Flag-waver, but the POTUS just said that the US is one of the largest “Mulsim countries” in the world. If you still insist he is a super-IQ genius, at least admit he is probably insane.
“But for you people to be somehow justifying that he be impeached (without any legal basis for doing so) or even imprisoned (what??!), you’ve got to be out of your minds.”
As noted, it is Obama who is insane, and that is why he should be impeached and imprisoned.
“Hey, let’s not forget the atrocities that the GW administration, and the innumerable christian and catholic leaders throughout history committed in the name of a different god.
I ask you bible-thumpers…what’s the difference?”
Well, for starters GWB hasn’t committed any atrocities except in the deranged (but thoroughly patriotic!) fantasies of liberals. Also, Torquemada was not an American and he lived 500 years ago. The Taliban blew up another girls school yesterday. Does that begin to shine any light on your conundrum?
Pee Wee:
Hahahah…thanks for the laugh!!
You should google “Chimp O-Matic”. If we’re going to point fingers at presidents who can’t write a coherent sentence, let’s start with GW.
Also, while you are certainly free to call me stupid for the content of my sentences, it is patently incorrect to call them incoherent. Everyone seems to understand me quite well…they just disagree with me, vehemently. =)
Typo corrected before you flagged it, flag. You have no idea how arrogant you sound, do you? God bless you.
Buddy:
Unfortunately, I was not gifted in any of those areas. I’m pretty good at catching falling objects before they hit the ground, though.
First off #225, I was poster #224, not poster #223.
Secondly, I was being facetious and sarcastic.
Thirdly, I am not stupid and I deeply resent your implication that I am “a part of the problem.”
Fourthly, 9/11.
And yes, that’s really all anyone needs to know.
A history lesson of sorts for you, Flag Waver:
A View From the Eye of the Storm, by Haim Harari
Your thoughts? Many, many, many individual Muslims are no doubt fine and decent folk, but when you sum up what Islam adds to the modern world it wouldn’t fit into a bottle cap. Or is it “delusional” and “xenophobic” of me to say so?
245:
I’m just trying to blend in. After your comment, I think I’m doing marvelously!
P.S. I was responding to post #221.
Who the hell is Flag Waver?
A belligerent ass by the comments…
Your assertions that no one here knows anything about Islam or has Muslim friends, coupled with your need to tell us all about your IQ level, reveal your arrogant nature.
Nice straw man, this…”Does everyone here really think we should we go around stomping out all muslim countries around the world?”
By the way, I have Muslim family members and friends.
And they like to drink with me, yes.
And they believe that President Bush’s policies in regards to Iraq and Afghanistan were correct.
An IQ of 141, with the common sense and manners of a child.
Pee Wee, I think the waver is a lost cause. We all believe in something, he believes in nothing. An empty soul.
As for you Flag Waver, do some research on war. You think the war on terror is unnecessary. There are many that think that but it’s a twist of words. How many people were being murdered in Iraq before the US invaded? How many are being murdered by the terrorist that are still over there? Our troops do have civilian casualties but they aren’t targeting them.
And as any liberal Israel hater you don’t think they had a right to defend themselves. Look at a map, they are out numbered.
Are these peoples lives less valuable than the WTC victims? No, but we didn’t have any notice of a declared war.
I haven’t heard of an abortion clinic bombing occuring in a long time. Tiller, well, as I said before, I hope he prayed for forgivness with his last breath.
BTW: What do you believe in besides yourself?
Glad to hear you’re a good catcher, FW. However, God does exist. I know, i just spoke with Him. He said to tell you He just started a tumor in your cerebrum.
It just keeps on coming.
“I thought it was very important to come to the place where Islam began and to seek his majesty’s counsel,” Obama said.

I understand who we *should* be at war with, and I hope that those enemies can be defeated, in time. However, it is clear from many of the statements in this very discussion that aspersions are being cast on ALL muslims! I don’t need to hear propaganda from the Democratic party, I’m hearing it straight from the horse’s mouth.
“His data? Poor form? Alert, Flag-waver, but the POTUS just said that the US is one of the largest “Mulsim countries” in the world. If you still insist he is a super-IQ genius, at least admit he is probably insane.”
I am certainly wondering what he meant by that statement, and what his justification he has for making it. However, I don’t think that this statement alone makes him insane, or stupid. That’s a gross exaggeration. Perhaps he’s been spending too much time with crazy ol’ uncle Joe.
“As noted, it is Obama who is insane, and that is why he should be impeached and imprisoned.”
Show me a law he has broken that would justify impeachment.
“Well, for starters GWB hasn’t committed any atrocities except in the deranged (but thoroughly patriotic!) fantasies of liberals. Also, Torquemada was not an American and he lived 500 years ago. What about the thousands of innocent civilians killed in Iraq in a war that never should have been waged in the first place? You wouldn’t call that an atrocity? What’s your definition, then?
I have zero support whatsoever for the Taliban. I wish our focus had remained there, instead of trained on Iraq. Now, the Taliban is arguably a greater enemy than it ever was.
The majority of innocent civilians in Iraq that have been killed have NOT been killed by the US Military. You should talk to some of the Infantrymen in the US military. You can learn a lot…but that would probably be beneath you.
Our ultimate goal was to stop the financial backing to the Taliban, Hamas and the other cells. They are backed by Iran. Look at a map. Maybe even you could figure out what the plan was…now with Obama, it’s all been thrown out the backdoor. Now Iran will have the bomb…we’ve already shipped 500 tons of yellow cake from Iraq. Now the Taliban will be even more powerful. It’s amazing that people like you claim patriotism.
It used to be that any eighth-grader in the U.S. would have learned that the Moorish armies of Umayyad Caliphate under the command of ‘Abdul Rahman Al Ghafiqi, the Governor-General of al-Andalus [i.e., SPAIN], were defeated by the Frankish and Burgundian troops led by Charles Martel at the Battle of Tours in October of the year of our Lord 732.
Lately our educational system has rather deteriorated, so we have several generations of highschool graduates that don’t have the faintest idea that Islamic armies had conquered all the countries of North Africa and what we now call Spain WITHIN A CENTURY AFTER THE DEATH OF MOHAMMED, prophet of Allah.
“Conquered.”
That is, by sword, arrow, spear, hacking, chopping, cutting, slaughtering, burning, starving, beating, raping, and so on. Not by the modern “civilized” method of clandestinely sending petrodollars to a candidate who promised to kiss their butts if they helped him get elected.
The Battle of Tours (Arabic معركة بلاط الشهداء (ma‘arakat Balâṭ ash-Shuhadâ’) Battle of Court of The Martyrs) was the deepest reach of the Islamic invasion into Europe from North Africa. But in 1683, a mostly Janissary army of the Islamic Ottoman Empire began a three-month siege of the City of Vienna. In September Polish King John III Sobieski and his armies relieved the city and sent the Grand Vizier Merzifonlu Kara Mustafa Pasha packing. THIS ENDED A THREE CENTURY STRUGGLE BY THE ISLAMIC TURKS to conquer Europe. They almost pulled it off, and it took another two decades for the Europeans to reclaim most of the territories we now know as Eastern Europe.
That is why there were centuries-old Muslim communities in Bosnia-Herzegovina, Serbia, Croatia, Kosovo, Montenegro, Albania, Hungary, Macedonia, Rumania, Bulgaria, etc. The conquering armies of the Turks had forced those they had not slaughtered to convert to Islam.
But we still have clearasil-scented lecturers admonishing us to apologize for being so mean with the Crusades.
For at least two decades I’ve been studying and sincerely trying to understand a set of cultures governed by a religion with tens of thousands of fanatics claiming justification to smash the skulls of Israeli children; to send bomb-wrapped retarded women into a Iraqi marketplace to be remotely detonated along with scores of children and their parents; take over an Ossetian school and slaughter hundreds of students, teachers, assistants, and parents; behead 12-year-old Indonesian schoolgirls; poison and machine gun Afghan schoolgirls and blow up their schools to punish and prevent any from receiving an education; throw acid in the faces of Afghan women on the public street for showing their faces at all; bomb trainloads of Indian Hindu pilgrims on their way to religious festivals; behead bound and defenseless captives in the Philippines; machine gun and bomb tourists visiting Egyptian antiquities; shoot Americans on the streets in Washington, Maryland, Louisiana, and Arkansas; plow an SUV into a crowd of students on a warm spring day in North Carolina; all to honor their great and merciful Allah.
The list of Islamic atrocities – that is, atrocities perpetrated BY ISLAMIC FANATICS who loudly proclaim their faith as the reason for their acts – around the world in the last 40 years numbers in the thousands. I mean acts of small groups and individuals, NOT invading armies or covert government assassins. Islamic zealots propelled by their “faith” have slaughtered other Muslims as much as unbelievers, trying to intimidate them into rejecting secular influences and “modernization.”
Historical fact is what it is.
But don’t let facts sway you.
A handful of modern “Christian” whackos doing murder as fulfillment of their twisted zeal…
Yeah, that balances just fine with tens of thousands of victims of Jihad in the last few decades.
What a moron.
Anyone up for more aggravation? Read on…

Wow, Flag Waver, I think Mad Fiddler just educated you!
To our Flag Waver (a rather snarky ironic name there), I’m curious, Mr. 141 I.Q., if you would grace us with the knowledge of where you went to school? Since, as you noted, you’ve been to a history class.
I think it could explain a whole lot.
Buddy:
I literally laughed out loud on that last one. Well played.
Jefe:
I didn’t need to announce anything, I was simply replying to someone’s earlier assertions about my intelligence. Perhaps I should not have bothered to sink to his level. ;c)
Anyway, I have not spoken to a single muslim that agreed with GW’s Afghanistan and Iraq policies. The number isn’t great (maybe 30, tops), but not hearing a single opposing viewpoint is surprising nonetheless.
I wonder if any studies have been done on that subject…it would be interesting to see how the opinions of muslims in America break down when it comes to GW’s Middle Eastern policies.
Attitude:
“And as any liberal Israel hater you don’t think they had a right to defend themselves. Look at a map, they are out numbered.”
Quick question for you: what do you use to swat a fly that is buzzing around your living room? Do you use a flyswatter, or do you firebomb your living room?
They may be outnumbered in number of bodies, but not in military might.
Please don’t put words in my keyboard. I don’t hate Israel in the slightest. I believe that, as the occupying power, Israel must be the one to make concessions in order for there to be peace.
And as for what I believe (in general)…I believe in the mutual respect of and care for fellow humans, everywhere. If you want to relate what I consider “right” and “wrong” to a belief system, it would fall mostly in line with secular judeo-christian beliefs. As for other social issues, I am pro-equality for women, homosexuals, racial minorities, and members of all religions.
I overreacted earlier when I said “And no, god does not exist. The sooner the world realizes this, the sooner there will be peace.”, and that was wrong of me. I personally do not believe in god, but I do believe that there is nothing wrong with believing in a god, so long as that belief does not impinge upon others.
C’mon, Flag, Mad Fiddler gave you a lot to chew on @259 (Haim Harari did too, if you took the time to read what he said), but you’re up to it, right? Or are those Lefty talking points you so assertively parrot only so flexible?
“As for other social issues, I am pro-equality for women, homosexuals”
And such squares with the tenets of Islam how?
Flag says:
“How many thousands of innocent civilians have been killed by our unnecessary war on terror?”
Jihadists and Baathists have intentionally killed many thousands of innocents. Perhaps you should take up your complaint with them instead of pretending (very patriotically, mind you!) that US soldiers killed them-or is that our removal of Saddam compelled them to set off bombs in schools, hospitals and markets? I know if the US were ruled by a Saddam type and Canada and Mexico invaded us to remove him, my natural reaction to that aggression would be to kill as many innocent women and children as possible. Yours too, right?
I know Flag, if only Boosh had invited Osama to his ranch for the 4th of July, all would be fine. But no, the Christian warlords just couldn’t control their bloodlust. Instead of reaching out with an empathetic embrace of mutually respectful dialogue, we got the Crusades. (Interestingly this was the first crusade in which Bibles were burnt by the crusaders)
“How many hundreds of innocent civilians were killed by Israel during their most recent “response to Palestinian aggression”? Are their lives any less valuable than those in the WTC?”
Not nearly as many as were claimed by the Psychostinians, and of course there would have been none if they could manage to fight like men for once instead of firing rockets at children, then dragging women and children into the buildings they fired from like the goatophilic girlymen they are. Being a kind, compassionate, empathetic and thoroughly patriotic 141 IQ American, I’m surprised you’re not more upset by this kind of behavior.
“Also, what about the fanatics who bomb abortion clinics and murder doctors?”
What about them? I can count them all from the past decade or more on one hand.
Put a cork in it, Flag-Desecrator. You’re embarassing the species.
Fiddler:
I mentioned the actions of Christians to make the point that throughout history (to the present day), there have been wars fought and atrocities committed in the names of numerous gods. Saying one was any better or worse than another is crass and pointless.
I would absolutely agree with you when you say:
“The list of Islamic atrocities – that is, atrocities perpetrated BY ISLAMIC FANATICS who loudly proclaim their faith as the reason for their acts – around the world in the last 40 years numbers in the thousands. I mean acts of small groups and individuals, NOT invading armies or covert government assassins. Islamic zealots propelled by their “faith” have slaughtered other Muslims as much as unbelievers, trying to intimidate them into rejecting secular influences and “modernization.””
And I believe those specific fanatics are absolutely our enemies. Am I correct in saying that you believe that these extremists, while small in number, cannot be defeated by any means other than violent, direct confrontation on our part.
If it is, then that is where we disagree. If we can get the average secular Muslim on our side, we will not need to directly intervene (by force) across the world when extremists attack. Perhaps I am too idealistic, and Haim Hariri is right, but it really seems like our direct involvement only results in more recruits for our enemies. Maybe my outlook is simply too short-sighted, and increased acts of terror in the short term are part of the pain of achieving the end goal in the long term.
Anodyne:
I did take the time to read the link you provided. I like to learn. Also, the small amount of historical information provided by Fiddler took seconds to read (and could be found in seconds with a simple Wikipedia search).
I never said those beliefs square with the tenets of Islam, because they don’t. They don’t square with the tenets of strict Christians either.
However, they do square with a great number of secular Muslims and Christians.
So, what’s new; Obama demonstrates, again, he doesn’t have a passing grade in basic math.
Andrew:
“Not nearly as many as were claimed by the Psychostinians, and of course there would have been none if they could manage to fight like men for once instead of firing rockets at children, then dragging women and children into the buildings they fired from like the goatophilic girlymen they are.”
Patently false. The number of Israelis killed by Hamas (note, HAMAS, not “the Palestinians”) during the most recent conflict (Dec 08 – Jan 09) was between 9 and 13 (depending on the source). The number of Palestinians killed was between approximately 1100 and approximately 1400 (again depending on the source).
For those here who mock us for being worried about BO’s proclamations, you speak in ignorance and must read the koran, the hadith of Bukhari and the Sira or biography of mohammed. You will find that islam is based on master/slave consciousness and submission.
Muslims call themselves believers because they believe what is in their sacred texts, albeit, some practice their ideology more devoutly than others.
You will find that islam is a complete way of life, a religious, social and political system with its own set of laws, the sharia. Its ethics do not include the Golden Rule, but “what is permitted and what is forbidden.” It is the only religion I know of that makes killing a sacred duty, allows husbands to beat their wives and whose god delights in the screams of kafirs in hell.
It not a unitary religion/philosophy but is dualistic, meaning a believer can hold two contradictory thoughts at the same time, such as: you are my friend, you are my enemy, a person of filth called a kafir. There are two sacred entities, allah and mohammed(who is the perfect pattern for a man) as exemplified in the shahada, two divisions of the world, the land of war where islam is not dominant and the land of islam, where it is and on and on.
When islam colonizes a country and makes jihad by the tongue, writing or actions (including robbery, rape and murder) plus uses the womb, the host civilization that is conquered will practice dhimmitude and apologize for and serve islam without being practicing muslims. Dhimmitude is practiced until the majority of the dhimmis convert or leave their own countries.
History is our guide. Egypt, Turkey, Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, Indonesia, Iran, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Yemen, Saudi Arabia etc. all had different religions and ancient, great civilizations. Islam came with the sword and brought its theocratic barbaric arab ideology and the countries were changed forever. All this waver and his ilk must deny because they are either fearful of the truth or they are too ego involved in the dhimmicratic church.
BO is abd, the word the arabs use for Africans which means the same as black and slave; he is the dhimmicratic super-dhimmi who carries water for islam.
One of the classic Lefty moral equivalency moves is to respond to critiques of Islam’s violent nature by saying “oh well look at all the people killed in the name of Jesus.”
They fail to make a critical distinction. While indeed there have been those who have committed violence in the name of Jesus, that violence is against the teachings of Jesus. The claim is fake and merely a cover and justification for other motives.
With Islam, the violence is very much in keeping with the teachings of Mohammed.
That is what we call a significant difference, not to mention an inconvenient truth.
Islam is about power, and that’s it. Even it’s name means “submission.” Since the decline of the Ottoman Empire, and rise/creation of Islamic states Islam has been suffering an identity crisis. It doesn’t know what to do with itself when out of power. It consoles itself with being faithful to the prophet and his teachings, yet Islam has existed as the poor kid on the block. This it cannot reconcile with its ideological quest for world dominion. So Islam is reduced to breaking things in its out-of-power identity crisis.
According to Dick Morris on tv a few minutes ago:
One-third of Iranians are under 20 yrs old.
The Muslim world’s under 20′s are half again higher (i assume as a percentage of the whole) than the rest of the world’s.
One-third of all adults are illiterate.
Youth unemployment ranges from 30% to 40%.
…and it’s the west that’s de-stabilizing the Muz?
Certainly the graybeards are watching the oil dripping down through the hourglass.
Well he just keeps stepping in it.thats ok though because we are taking notes. And in this day and age of information you can bet this will be brought to the publics attention in 2012.Gee Sarah Palin is looking good these days!
@273: The Saudi’s (or at least the wiser ones among them) have a saying:
“My grandfather rode a camel, my father drove a car, I ride in my jet, and my son will ride a camel.”
But don’t worry. I’m confident that when the oil revenues begin to dry up and the lights begin to dim, our resident 141-IQ cockroaches will come scuttling out with the “tolerant” and “compassionate” happytalk needed to placate Young Achmed Six-Pack…
Flag Waver,
Please do me a big favor and describe exactly what a “secular Muslim” is, and try and give an estimate of the fraction of the Muslim world that falls into that category. Also, please point me to the part or parts of the Koran that call for (or could reasonably be interpreted to call for) the “secular” Islam you’ve defined.
And why, pray tell, don’t these “secular Muslims” step in and restrain the ones you consider to be the enemy?
“I did take the time to read the link you provided. I like to learn. Also, the small amount of historical information provided by Fiddler took seconds to read (and could be found in seconds with a simple Wikipedia search).”
So, (via that link) did you learn that the problems of the vast majority of Muslim countries have little or nothing to do with either the US or Israel or how the US is perceived around the world? That is the gist of part of what Dr. Harari wrote and it is at complete odds with most points you make above. He also remarked upon the curious lack of action on the part of “moderate” Muslims in regards to denouncing (much less restraining) their more fundamentalist co-religionists.
“but it really seems like our direct involvement only results in more recruits for our enemies.”
Try this one on for size: “We really don’t want to fight the KKK, because that will only cause the ranks of the KKK to swell”. See how silly that sounds? But of course the KKK weren’t Muslims that we must fall all over ourselves to “understand”, merely violent bigots who had to be put down. And funny, so many secular Muslims around who, oddly, can’t be bothered to restrain the nut-jobs amongst them, but who can, equally oddly, be encouraged to throw in at the drop of a hat with those same nut-jobs if Islam or Muslims are hurt/offended or perceived to be. Imagine if the vigorous (which I hope it is) prosecution of the guy who killed that abortionist led to a wave of bombings and assassinations on the part of formerly “secular” Christians who had been driven to extremism via the “mistreatment” of their religion. Won’t happen, but the analog happens regularly in the Muslim world. Why is that?
And Mad Fiddler’s summary wasn’t some mere Wikipedia cut and paste. Your casually writing it off as so speaks volumes. Likewise the false symmetry you try to establish between Christian and Muslim fundamentalists. Anyone with any sense of scale can see that the threat from the Muslim fundamentalists (and the Muslims that either aid and abet them or simply look the other way) dwarfs that posed by Christian ones.
@275, and smack in the middle of this turbulence of colliding eras, sits Israel, outnumbered 100 to 1, busily cranking out GDP and doctors and engineers and patents and books and scientific papers and daily medical and technical breakthroughs. Israel is racist? You bet yer sweet patooty –its existence just screams the word. Israel should bulldoze its modern nation and start working toward that one-third illiteracy ideal –THAT’s the only way it can be non-racist.
If the fly said that it’s goal was total destruction of me and my family and continually killed some of them, yes, I would set off a firebomb.
Flag:

Stop the nonsense Flagwaver. The sick game of deliberately trying to create civilian casualties, inventing them when it doesn’t happen, is the standard MO of jihadists. Even the UN had to admit that civilian casualties had been grossly exaggerated and that the Pals had repeatedly put civilians in the line of fire and then drawn fire towards them-which the Israelis went to great lengths to avoid, just as the US has been doing. This is all obvious. We just had the case of the Taliban trying to draw an air-strike in on a building with civilians and failing, using grenades to kill the civilians and then calling a press conference.
Also, I believe Hamas was “elected” by a clear majority in Gaza, so I’m not sure why you’ve decided they are somehow a separate entity.
Moslem Country!!!!
Being a Moslem country is not about numbers. It is about the law that governs the country. To be a Moslem country, it must be ruled by Sharia. That would be the only “Moslem State” the fundamentalists we are fighting will accept to make peace with. Is that what Obama is hinting at establishing?
Moslem Americans around the world? Is the Chicago machine that allows the dead to vote handing out US passports to Moslems around the world? How many is he actually talking about?
He surely cannot believe people will stand for that. Then again, he may look back at this country’s willingness to be stripped of all its religious symbols and think he can get away with it. He has so far acted like the potentates of Islamic countries and gotten away with that.
Wearing a cross on a chain to school (even a very small one) is now grounds for dismissal, as it is deemed religious intimidation and intolerance. Honestly, I think we need to do some real sole searching and look at how we came this far down this slippery slope without most people noticing. What is next, banning Christian names?
There is an old world adage that says “He who denies his heritage has no worth.” We have allowed the few to deny our heritage in the name of tolerance and “Kombaya”.
I am all for coexistence and tolerance, but that should never come at the expense of who I am. Those who are not willing to accept my heritage and identity are the ones incapable of coexistence. They are the intolerant ones and must not be accommodated. (I really have very close friends of all races, religions and national origins, they respect my heritage and identity and I respect theirs – that is tolerance.)
If none Christians have a problem with this country’s Christian heritage they are welcome to live elsewhere. We grant them all the freedom to move. No one is holding them here by force. In fact they should simply not come here. If they come here, it should be because they believe this is a better place to live, and as such should support the continuation of the culture that made it better. Many do believe and act this way.
What effect could Obama’s statement have on Moslems around the world?
Moslems like any other group that large come in all shapes and colors. But if we are to talk about major groups, there are three, not two.
First, we have the extremists who aim to implement the most oppressive and violent interpretation of Islam. Those are the smallest, but most vocal and violent and do not care what Obama says. As long as non-Moslems exist and have any kind of rights in this country it remains the enemy. Unless people begin to live like Afghans or Saudis, the war continues. Some have gone so far as to call Hamas and Hizbullah infidel lovers, because they have not yet killed all the Christians in their countries.
Second, we have the less violent but equally intolerant group. They are larger than the others, pretend to be our friends and adapt to the 21st century, but still believe in the supremacy of Islam. They do not do the killing themselves. They just ride the coat tails of the first group so they can then play the nice guy and convince the world that the best way to silence the first group is to implement Sharia, “peacefully”. Those include the leaders of countries like Pakistan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Karzai in Afghanistan, etc. They will not care what Obama says either.
Third, we have those who were born Moslem, but do not care about Islamic law, and prefer that it never gets implemented anywhere. Those look to the West with both admiration and envy, and ask themselves if it will ever be possible for them to live like us. This is the largest of the three, but least heard, if at all.
The third group is the one which would care about Obama’s statement. They would be horrified as they will interpret this as a message that America is perfectly willing to accept their continued oppression under the violent rule of Islamic fanatics.
This is a very bad message to send. And, it is neither ignorant nor naïve. It is shrewd and very well placed, by someone whose election into office has been a ploy from the start. Sadly so many people chanted “Change” without ever questioning. Will they wake up?
Has anyone wondered why the Moslems would want their man in office to be black? In a nutshell, if America wakes up to this reality it will be faced with two bad choices. First, allow him to continue for four years during which he can do a lot of damage. Second, impeach him and try him and start a nasty and destructive civil war with blacks will see that as racial prejudice and rise up to defend him.
We all recall the full alert issued to the National Guard on Election Day. The country was prepared for riots if he lost the elections. If loosing the elections would lead to riots, what would forceful removal from office create?
Diabolical fails to do justice to this plan.
Cadmus
Turn off your TVs folks. It is all nonsense.
President Obama is one of two things:
a simpleton or a man who has the worst interests of your country as his goal.
Neither is good. Let us start working on 2010 before it is too late.
Be free. Be America. Live free or die.
God Bless,
a concerned neighbour.
I googled Allah, and got a long list of archaeology sites describing it as the moon god. I also read before Allah was called Allah, he was called Sin, or the son of the Sun god. Pretty cool reading.
You know, those Mosques still have the moon on top.
267. Flag Waver:
As a true Christian (I could be called radical because I would die for my belief) I believe in equal rights for women (abortion is not a right, it’s murder), I have homosexual friends, friends of many different races. I don’t think the federal government should be involved in marriage, if two people can find a church to marry them then more power to them. I know atheist, agnostics, and people of many other religions. Good friends with some of them. We’ve had late night talks over drinks about religion, I’ve never hit anyone with my Bible! I can love the sinner and hate the sin. I love Jesus Christ. I’m not ashamed of it.
With that said, I’m against another religion that wants to kill me because of my religion. Islam wants to remove all infidels from the Earth, this includes you and me. And as for your Muslims, there is no such thing as a secular Muslim. Their religion teaches them to lie, to assimilate and overtake. Look at Lebanon, where have all their Christians and non Muslims gone? Heck, look at any country in the ME.
…and leatherneck, they haven’t buried Lenin yet, either. He’s still right where he was.
Mr. Attitude
On behalf of all Lebanese Christians, I thank you for your concern. Most people do not know or care what happens to Lebanese Christians. However, the Christians of Lebanon are still fighting for their survival. They have lost some ground numerically, but have not given up the fight yet, even though they have been on their own against a billion Moslems for some time now.
On that note, the 57 states listed are not all “Moslem States”. They include countries with a sizeable Moslem population, but not ruled by Islam. Ironically the Lebanese President, who is always a Christian, sits at that table to represent Lebanon’s Moslems. I would not want that task.
Leatherneck
Do not believe everything you read. As a Middle Eastern Christian I assure you, Allah is the God in all churches. This is only a matter of language. And no we did not get it wrong. Remember Christianity started in that region and Christians were praying to Allah for more than 6 centuries before Muhammad came.
This is not about what they call God. It is about what they are doing on earth.
Cadmus
Stunning last line, Cadmus. God bless you and help you.

That’s the best explanation I’ve heard yet, and is rather disturbing in it’s implication. It may partially explain why of the entire hard left agenda, gay marriage is the one plank he won’t support. That’s the one thing that’s in direct conflict with sharia.
Didn’t Ben Laden launch a new video from “outretombe” lately ? me think, he is no friend of Obama, and the “fondamentalists war” carries on
Marie Claude, OBL may be trying to harden Obama’s national security bona fides prior to the upcoming Moscow nuclear weapons summit. Anything else is so pat (suffers from too much obviousness) it makes little sense in the current context. Read Nyquist on AQ/KGB connections –and keep your mind open. I’ve been watching this since the Litvinenko assassination in London woke me up with a bad chill.
Charltan 272 “Islam is about power, and that’s it. Even it’s name means “submission”
Islam is the verbal noun (gerund) of the verb “salema” (close enough). This word means several things. At one time it means to be free from harm, safe and secure, but it also means to surrender, to submit to, to accept, to give up, resign yourself to, etc.
The conecpt of peace in the arabic language is built around the concept of submission to Islam. It is the same word.
Not to worry. We’ve seen this movie before. Don’t forget. Islam is at least 700 years younger than Christianity, and thousands younger than Judaism. So in terms of the natural evolution of religion, Islam is now entering the 14th Century in Christian Terms, still a few hundred years short of the Reformation. We could hurry their evolution along, but just remember. When Catholic Europe fought with Protestant Europe for a good 150 years the brutality and cruelty were certainly unimaginable, but no one had a nuclear weapon. So, for the next few hundred years we don’t even have to ask Bette Davis, but we should still fasten our seat belts.
As the Islamist say, “First comes Saturday then comes Sunday.” First the Jews then the Christians.
Andrew
The words are close, but not the same. The word for peace is Salam, very similar to the Hebrew word Shalom. Both are Semitic languages and very similar in many ways.
“Salam ‘Alaikom” used for greeting is often mistakenly thought to have religious meaning. But, it simply means peace be upon you, and is used by all religions, include Jews, who in Hebrew say “Shalom ‘Alikhem”
Peace has nothing to do with the name of Islam.
Islam is derived from the word Aslim, which means surrender or submit. When someone becomes a Moslem he will surrender “Aslim” to God. The Moslem invaders of Muhammad’s days used to warn people “Aslim, Taslam” which means surrender and you will be spared – not peaceful.
The Arabic language is structurally different from English. Variations from the root change the word slightly rather than adding “s”, “ion” or “ing”, etc.

Flag Waver kind of stepped into it here, didn’t he?
It wasn’t so long ago that I saw Obama bow (and I think he kissed the jewels) to King Abudullah. Today I saw Obama get a medal draped around his neck by King Abudullah. The medal reminded me of the dog tag that my cocker wears. At least we know who Obama’s handler is now.
PC Left wing Multi Culti ‘neolibs’ should ponder this and think where Obambi is leading them. The three greatest mass murderers of the 20th Century were all SOCIALISTS Mao, Stalin and Hitler.
Whoa cry the bemused ‘neolibs’ Hitler was a Fascist but the NAZI’s was their nickname for the full party name of the ‘National SOCIALIST German WORKERS Party’.
So ‘neolibs’ you have two choices either accept that Hitler was truly one of you or accept that a plausible foreign born LIAR and charismatic speaker can highjack a movement due to the blind , hysterical, emotional, gullible nature of its followers and the aquiescence of the Media and the ruling elite. Either way you are screwed and so is the USA unless it wakes up from its obsession with this evil man Obambi.
My hell, Obama is such an anti-American tool that Jimmy Carter is starting to look good.

Cadmus, I’m looking at my Hans Wehr Arabic-English dictionay. The verb “salima” (maybe anglicizing it wrong) is the verb that the verbal noun Islam is derived from. The word means not just surrender, submission, etc. It also has a second meaning-to be safe, secure and sound, etc. It’s obvious that the arabic concept of peace is derived from the same word as surrender and submission.
Obama’s Mugging With The Mullahs Tour continues apace. I wonder if he even knows enough history of the region to know about the millions of African slaves the Arabs and later the Muslims sold into slavery. The Muslims thought it was okay to trade human beings who were infidels because of their religious indoctrination.
By the way, I don’t believe Obama is a faithful Muslim or Christian. I think his faith is hollow. He is his own god. And to sum this up I like to put these words in smoker Obama’s mouth: “Ah, Salem, I like ‘em.”
Can someone explain what secular Islam is? Wouldn’t that just be an Arabic person?
It’s my opinion that they aren’t really Islamist unless they follow the teachings of the Koran.
It’s like a person who says they are Christian but they know nothing of the Christian faith.
They just label themselves as such in order to be part of a group.

Mad Fiddler #227 & 259, Highlander;
Thanks Sir/Madam! The line repeated quite a bit on this thread about lying to the infidel is true. However, I do not subsribe to that tactic. As a 4th Generation Warrior I understand the poer of truth and the moral level of war.
I fight 4GW in defence of the Constitution of the United States which provides me with the right and freedom to practice my faith unmolested. My study of the constitution and Islam finds there is compatibility. Ask yourself why the image of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and the Prophet Jesus (PBUH) are found on the facade of the Supreme Court?
It is such a crazy world. America is strong because we are a nation of mutts and becoming more so. We even have a mutt president!
Americans need to learn about Islam and learn Arabic! Why?? Because the world already does not know what an American looks like! An American face is not only white. It is Asian, African, Middle Eastern, etc.! Our enemies can speak, read and write American English very well so they have a distinct advantage. This is how the 9-11 attackers pulled off their raid! We need to master the language, customs, culture of those we deal with! For the price of ONE F-22 we could train an army of people like that!
I am Marzouq the Redneck Muslim! I am a lover of Love, hater of Hate and seeker of truth. I am like a cruise missile, flying through the gaps under the radar, to deliver my payload of love and deeper understanding.

I don’t have time to read it, but I figured it might be of some interest given the topic of the longest thread in Belmont history.
we are 37th in overall Muslim population. There are 160 countries with less Muslims than the United States. This clearly makes us one of the larger countries in terms of total Muslim population.
Stop hyperventilating, wingnuts. It’s embarrassing.
37th in overall Moslem population doesn’t make the US one of the largest Islamic countries in the world. And America isn’t governed by Shari’a law, unlike, say, nations like Saudi Arabia, nor has Islam had much influence on our culture. We have music, a vast entertainment industry of movies, TV and plays (Islam never really developed drama); we have separation of church and state, unlike Islamic countries, where there is no such thing. We don’t have arranged marriages, Western men aren’t expected to kill their womenfolk to restore their honor. Western women frolic on the beaches in skimpy bathing suits, don’t go around covered up in hefty-bags, drive their own cars, have their own jobs and are considered independent of men.
Please, stop trying to tell us America is an Islamic nation. That’s what’s embarassing.
wingnut sez, use ‘less’ to indicate quantity; use ‘fewer’ to indicate numbers.
Texas does not beg this is true. There is a story of two hurricanes that should make national news; it should be a focus of the MSM. Galveston Texas had a horrific hurricane last year, it destroyed the whole Island and months after the hurricane we went there and it was still terrible, it was so awful that I cried. I brought my camera and thought I would take pictures the day we went, but I could not take pictures of these people working to clean their island. My heart was hurting, because I spent my summers there and it was gone. Everything was gone.
Governor Perry is a good governor in my opinion. He has worked diligently to help these people, and it cannot be easy, because the government does not help him, this is my opinion only, but I feel it is true. The government has not helped Galveston Texas as they did New Orleans. They are still spending money on debris three and half years after hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans, but have all but cut off money to clean the debris on Galveston Island after hurricane Ike destroyed the island.
Three and half years ago, Texas took more New Orleans residents in and housed them than any other state. Texas helped them. Governor Perry helped them, and our state opened our hearts and our wallets to them.
It has been one year after hurricane Ike and Galveston is still trying to get back to normal, and it is still terrible, many of the beaches washed away from the storm, debris of demolished homes still lying around everywhere. I have not been there since I cried standing there, but I have seen pictures of the devastation of Galveston Island.
Three and half years after hurricane Katrina they still have housing for their people, but not a year after Ike, not in Galveston. Why is this, could it be because we are a red state? Could it be because the president does not think Texas should have the same treatment he continues to give Louisiana?
Three and half years after Katrina they are still getting paid housing, but not Texans, and I feel Texas is not being treated fairly by the Government and I do not understand, if someone can explain this to me I would appreciate and explanation.
What gives, is it because the media dwells on Katrina, but they are pretending Ike never happened?
Is it because actors as Pit has decided to fight for them, but nobody but Texans care what happens to Galveston Island?
I feel like writing it here, because I feel Galveston Island is not getting the preferential treatment that New Orleans has received, though I cannot understand why.
Where is the president? Well he is gallivanting around the ME, and getting praise for what?
They ignore Galveston Island, and I feel they are playing politics as usual. I blame the government, not our Governor; I blame the Democrats in control, not our Republicans running our state.

309. peterike: I’m in the process of reading it, rather enlightening, I like the way he showed how Obama doesn’t know what he is talking about:
Spencer pointed out the truth:
“The idea that Islamic culture was once a beacon of learning and enlightenment is a commonly held myth. In fact, much of this has been exaggerated, often for quite transparent apologetic motives. The astrolabe was developed, if not perfected, long before Muhammad was born. The zero, which is often attributed to Muslims, and what we know today as “Arabic numerals” did not originate in Arabia, but in pre-Islamic India. Aristotle’s work was preserved in Arabic not initially by Muslims at all, but by Christians such as the fifth century priest Probus of Antioch, who introduced Aristotle to the Arabic-speaking world. Another Christian, Huneyn ibn-Ishaq (809-873), translated many works by Aristotle, Galen, Plato and Hippocrates into Syriac. His son then translated them into Arabic. The Syrian Christian Yahya ibn ‘Adi (893-974) also translated works of philosophy into Arabic, and wrote one of his own, The Reformation of Morals. His student, another Christian named Abu ‘Ali ‘Isa ibn Zur’a (943-1008), also translated Aristotle and others from Syriac into Arabic. The first Arabic-language medical treatise was written by a Christian priest and translated into Arabic by a Jewish doctor in 683. The first hospital was founded in Baghdad during the Abbasid caliphate — not by a Muslim, but a Nestorian Christian. A pioneering medical school was founded at Gundeshapur in Persia — by Assyrian Christians.
In sum, there was a time when it was indeed true that Islamic culture was more advanced than that of Europeans, but that superiority corresponds exactly to the period when Muslims were able to draw on and advance the achievements of Byzantine and other civilizations. But when the Muslim overlords had taken what they could from their subject peoples, and the Jewish and Christian communities had been stripped of their material and intellectual wealth and thoroughly subdued, Islam went into a period of intellectual decline from which it has not yet recovered.”
Buddy, lots of the contemporain novels on spies set the plots with KGB interferences in ME, that they more or less control.
Spencer is absolutely correct. The Moslems take credit for everything that came out of the Middle East as far back as they can. Some have even taken credit for the Phoenician Alphabet, which is at least 2000 years older than Islam.
The “Islamic Golden Age” was the first two centuries after Muhammad, when the population was still predominantly Christian, and Moslems only ruled. It was simply a carry over from a civilized region and civilized people. The Moslems simply try to take credit for it.
To be fair, there were some Moslems who contributed to all this and they could have continued. But, the oppressive implementation of Islam prevented that. After Islam truly began to take root, culture and all other facets of civilization in the region went into decline. The Arrival of the Turkic people from central Asia greatly hastened the decline, through their utter barbarism, which really set the tone for the future of Islam – violence and ignorance.
The European renaissance was mainly due to all the translations made by and for the Crusaders from Christian Middle Easterners, which they took back to Europe. Much of that knowledge was preserved in Monasteries. It took a while for the knowledge to spread, but that is where it started. The Knight Templars and Free Masons are credited with bringing much of that knowledge back with them. Many of the Middle Eastern innovators ended up moving to Europe to escape Islamic tyranny and also contributed to the Renaissance.
Unfortunately, since Europe was in its dark ages when the Middle East was in its zenith, and only became enlightened after the decline of the Middle East, much of this history is not well understood. The Enlightened Europe truly believed all things started in Europe and treated the Middle East as the source of “nothing”.
It is this lack of understanding of history that allows people to misrepresent it and pretend to be something that they are not.
In any event, none of that innovation comes from the Koran, Muhammad or any of his speeches. Just because some brilliant mind is Moslem, does not make his work an Islamic accomplishment any more than making other people’s innovations Christian or Jewish.
Cadmus
I don’t get that looking back into the past anyway. Who cares what Muslims did or didn’t do a thousand years ago. It’s like when back in the 80s the Left was constantly pushing the notion about how the ancient Egyptians were really black. Even if true — so what? What on earth does that have to do with American blacks in the 20th century?
What have you done for me lately? Muslim nations have produced close to nothing for a thousand years. Though this is all classic Leftist brain washing. All non-whites are allowed ethnic pride, even when it’s ginned up nonsense. Ethnic pride for whites is racism.
Marzouq the Redneck Muslim @ 307: “The line repeated quite a bit on this thread about lying to the infidel is true. However, I do not subsribe to that tactic.”
Quandary, Marzouq. Why are we to believe you? Not trying to be wise-a$$ here, just…. Can you see the problem that kitman/taquiyya poses to the Western world? Honestly?
310. Cichawoda @ 310: “Stop hyperventilating, wingnuts. It’s embarrassing.”
Then go somewhere else so’s we don’t embarrass you. Why do you trolls hang out where you have like minded minions? I don’t go to Kos or HuffingGlueToast because I just end up spitting on the monitor. You must have a ID-10T error in your OS.
Cadmus and Ms. Attitude: Nice fisking of the Islam is intellectually superior meme in history. Any student of World history knows this idea that Islam is responsible for all these things is wrong. Most of the things that did come out of the Islamic caliphate came because non-Muslims did the work. The idea in Islam that once a land belonged to Islam then it forever is part of the same is part of that same societal delusion they seem to have.
It seems that a decent course of World History is no longer taught in our high schools. My kid graduated HS in 2007 and knew not the first thing of history, US or world. Sad state of affairs.
It seems that a decent course of World History is no longer taught in our high schools. My kid graduated HS in 2007 and knew not the first thing of history, US or world.
It’s way worse than that. Eliminating all courses in history would be an improvement, because the “history” they do get is more often than not a Howard Zinn-i-fied brainwashing. They leaving school knowing less than nothing, because most of what they “know” is wrong. Not unexpectedly, every wrong thing they learn happens to support the Leftist worldview.
I’ve read that during the Golden Age of Islam, much of the science came from Byzantines who had changed their names and religious affiliation, after their cities were conquered –aka “conversions under the sword”.
At the rate (tens of thousands per month since February 2009) muslims are being imported to the USA, the USA will be the largest of the 57 (or is it 58) states of the islamic conference within a few years. The USA as we knew it is over with the election of the muslim obamanation. See the two small Christian girls beheaded as they walk home from Church (Atlas shrugs has the video). Just a matter of time that you Americans get it in the neck too. We unamericans relish the thought and wish to join in the carnage. You should have listened to Joe McCarthy. We ruined him. heh heh heh
Ah, yes, #110 Boris: you darling USA hater you, may Allah bless you and give you young virgins to plow. When the USA falls, as it must, persons such as yourself will RULE.
I used to think that Jimmy Carter was the worst president ever, he was just stupid, but Obama is dangerous and by far the worst ever and has done so much damage in such a short time. Well they are trying to rid the Prime Minister Of England mostly via e mail. I wonder could it happen here and maybe even call for a special election to be conducted within 6 months? Just wishing I suppose cause that is all that is left.
Ahh, tovarish! Enjoy well our Amerikanski demise! We will wait for you in hell, once you have passed through a Chinee alimentary canal!
Tovarish, surely you jest. Boris and his kin would not RULE, they would be dispatched pronto once their tooley usefulness would be no longer required or useful, as per Yuri Bezmenov.
The man (or several of them thereof) behind the curtain decided a while ago that the marxist claptrap (and derivates) is the best ruse for the power concentration. Once that would be achieved, off with Borises heads.
(I don’t believe they will be successful, the history has a tendency to introduce unintended consequence into grand schemes, but wish that Borises get their deserved payback without us paying too, in many ways)
laugh while you can buddy and 2×4. boris and his kin rule today, you silly donkey’s elephant. they will rule always. one boris head, another boris head, another boris head it does not matter — there will always be boris. budddy you await me in hell, thank you very much, you are most kind. what we gonna do together in hell? I can’t wait. will i like it????
O B A M A………….We love the hate that you all spew. It’s so hard for me to believe how hateful you people really are. You say Muslims hate, but that is so far from the truth. You are the ones that hate any and everything not like you. (YOU HATE IT AND WE LOVE THAT YOU DO, YOU CAN’T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT) LOL A BUNCH OF HANNITY LOVERS
tovarish, fool, we will chase amerikanski girls with Big Breasts!
Tovarish, Boris may become Yezhov or Slansky and rule within a restricted space, but it is only temporary, until he is listed in a newspaper one day, “Boris Slansky, a Jew – Head shortening”. Many a boris out there, but they don’t grow new heads once separated from them.
#328, google “projection”.
Atiyah, this “hannity” –is opposing cult leader? — is shaman from other village maybe?
Cadmus,
Are you suggestiong the archaeology reports are not telling the truth? Are you a Dr. of archaeology?
buddy, hell is full of amerikansky girls with falsies you chase dem. only Russian girls have BIG BREASTS, and they don’t go to hell. i must change my ways. you chase, I catch
The only problem with Russian girls is what they turn into when they reach 30. Do you really want to spend eternity with a harem of babushkas?

before the crusades we had civilisations not based on sccriptures, but oral (celts) and on votives objects, such as small sculptures, jowellery, decorated arms… then came the roman influence in architecture, design of cities, temples, and churches ! Do you know the roman style of them ? in Poitiers we still have a baptistere of this era, which is a marvel of architecture and that still has it fresco decorations.

there are plenty of such monuments in France northern Spain, northern italy.
Also our abbaye of Mont-St-Michel is said to have been the place where Aristote texts were translated, and then being at the origin of the “first Renaissance” which corresponded to Charlemagne era, and initiated the Art ghotique and the first school of philosophy, all that before the crusades and the andalusian civilisation
okee dokee, tovarish, you catch i chase in eastern hemisphere, i catch you chase in western. now throw all atomic bombs in big smoking hole at Chernobyl please.
uh, dunno what happened, sorry for the doubbles !
pee wee, you did not know??? In heaven RUSSIAN GIRLS are an eternal 14. I am drooling. You spend eternity with old lady, I spend eternity with marushka, volodya, galena. i REALLY MUST CHANGE MY WAYS. Is good vodka there too — maybe? Maybe I hope too much.
What you want to spend eternity with amerikansky falsy girl. what do falsy girl turn into when dey reach 30? ah, don’t tell me.. I don’t want to know. I can’t stumich dem.
no, no, no, no, buddy. Chernobyl not “big smoking hole.” Nuclear accident not so bad; you should come see. Wolfs live dere. wild pigs live in Chernobyl. hunting is very good. Big scary nuclear accident for western peoples. you got to die of something. There are many things far more scary than nuclear stuffs, like skinny girl with falsy. some have falsy butt also. i felt one, ugh.
I hear hunting very good –glowing game easy target, even with silly vodka double vision and delirium tremens!
Tovarish, ya’ pulling our leg. If you were Russian, you’d spell yourself tovarishch, or use cyrilic in your nick outright (yea, many of us here read azbuka).
Volodya would be what in one Firefly episode (the whorehouse one) was called “sly boy”. You’d know it is not a grrl’s name, if you were Russian. Feh… ya’ fake, like da silicon boob.

I am not sure what archaeology reports you are talking about. I did not dispute any.
Marie Claude
I know there is much that came out of Europe. I also know that Rome ruled all the way to Britain, which cannot but insure that knowledge is shared. However, it is very well documented that the crusaders translated a lot of documents and brought them back with them.
I apologize if I sounded like claiming everything came from the Middle East. What I meant is that until recently it was commonly believed that ALL came from Europe, and nothing came from the Middle East. I also said that there is lack of knowledge of the Middle East that allows Muslims to claim credit for everything that came from there, when most came from non-Moslems.
Cadmus
Cadmus, there’s no doubt that much of European civilization owes the other Mediterranean civilizations, including the Arabs. Now will you admit that by the same token, the Arabs took, borrowed, whatever you want to call it, from India? Specifically, positional notation (“Arabic numerals”), the number zero, and algebra?
The truth is, the cultural success of the lands around the Mediterranean, including Europe, is attributable to a very large degree to the ability of so many civilizations to communicate, by sea, and by the trade routes to Asia. No single civilization did it all, but most contributed something.
Self-hating Boomer/344
Name 5 things that were original contributions of Islamic civilization.
OK, 4, then?
3?
…
Self-hating Boomer
I am not sure how my comment was taken to mean the Arabs did it all. I read my comment again, and do think it reads that way, but then again, misunderstandings happen.
I was addressing the claim that Islam gave the world so many things that they did not. I specified how most of that came before Islam and was from Middle Eastern Christians, Jews and pre-Christian civilization.
I did not claim any exclusive source of civilization.
You are correct about the extensive interaction around the Mediterranean and beyond that contributed most to the development of civilization. BTW, it was the Indus river area, which is both in today’s India and Pakistan that contributed a lot to early civilization.
It is precisely that interaction and exchange that made civilization as rich as it is.
Cadmus
Tovarich, Boris and Buddy,
Y’all is killin me! Skinny with falsies on both ends! Hell would be 72 of those!!!
Bla Bla Bla,
Saw it the first time. History is replete with tribes uniting to get their way through conquest, pillage, mayhem, rape and slavery. consider the age during which Islam was born. Consider also the Soviet revenge on Berlin, the most recent large scale non-tribal mass rape event!
My brain be hurtin. Must be my low IQ.
I guess Western Civilization is doomed since all has been learned.
Let the President, his administration and our superb government give the best shot.
If things do not work out and he is unable to get reelected in 2012, hopefully the next administration will try something really new and different. Below is my suggestion.
America should go on strike! Pull out of EVERYWHERE. No more foreign aid, Can’t afford it we are so poor now! Wall off the borders and shoot anyone trying to get in! Y’all know. Something like John Galt and friends in Atlas Shrugged!
Salaam eleikum Y’all!

Dear Marzouk,
My nightmare is that we will become like East Germany in the 1960′s.
I can’t help thinking that immigrants who came to USA have more authority in refuting the absurd delusions of the Left than us poor slobs who only are here by lucky accident of birth.
(Not meaning to lay some burden on you, just saying you do a pretty darn good job.)
Problem is, the LEFT aren’t listening to anyone but each other.
Remember the song “De Doo Doo Doo… De Da Da Da” by the Police? Here’s an excerpt:
Poets, priests and poiticians
Have words to thank for their positions
Words that scream for your submission
And no one’s jamming their transmission
‘Cos when their eloquence escapes you
Their logic ties you up and rapes you
De do do do, de da da da
Is all I want to say to you
De do do do, de da da da
Their innocence will pull me through
De do do do, de da da da
Is all I want to say to you
De do do do, de da da da
They’re meaningless and all that’s true
-From the Album “Every Breath You Take” circa 1986
I highly recommend. Whatever Sting’s politics may be, his lyrics transcend.
I’ve read through each and every one of these comments, and one point I’m consistently seeing is the assertion that there is no distinction between the average peaceful Muslim and our enemies, the fundamental Islamists who yearn to destroy us, and that every Muslim should be destroyed. Some of these comments are made outright, others are implied.
That’s really the only thing that I question about these comments. To me, that seems to be an unreasonable leap to make, since there is an enormous difference between a typical Muslim and an Islamic extremist.
Of course, there are a great many other concerns that I do have, a large one of them being the fact that the majority of peaceful Muslims tend to ignore (or even defend) the fanatics, rather than fighting them themselves (or at the very least, refusing to cooperate). Can anyone shed any light on that?
PSB @ 354; if a hundred thousand innocents had been murdered for religious reasons by Presbyterian extremists over the last 30 years, you wouldn’t be wondering a little about Presbyterianism?
Buddy, Tovi:
“Four vodka good, two vodka bitter.”
buddy–
Hey, I’m wondering myself, but that does not mean I condemn all Muslims because of the actions of a few. That’s just irrational.
It seems to me we should be making precise attacks against extremists while simultaneously appealing to the more moderate majority of Muslims. I’m no history/psychology/foreign policy expert, so I haven’t the slightest idea how to do that. Anyway, that leads right back to my previous question about the behavior of the moderates towards the extremists…
PSB, re ypour confoundment about the peaceful vs the warlike Muz (Mao’s sea and the fish in it), until there’s any evidence to the contrary, the requirements of security-mindedness (as opposed to Unicornism, which is a fraud surviving behind the very toughness of others that the unicorns so love to ridicule) must see the entire religion as a continuum.
In the frame of violence, then, the terrorists are at one end, your peaceful anglicized Muslim associates are at the other.
But the thing that makes a continuum a continuum is that they are circuits –energy anywhere is energy everywhere –albeit voltage, amperage, wattage, can be at strikingly different levels at given points along the circuit –until such time as the circuit is fully energized, and at capacity.
Then you will have a borderless nation, with the nice folks in the diplomatic corp and the einzatzgruppen operating elsewhere, to more or less like ends. So, your question isn’t ready yet to be answered by the only people who can answer it. Evidence of history is, it is only a matter of time until you will have that answer.
twobyfour: I agree with you and Y. Bezmenov that boris is easily dealt with as an individual. As with the “dwarf” and the Czech who lost his daughter the boris go away easily. However, as Yuri describes, Americans have been programmed to communism by your public schools and private universities over the past 50 years. There are now more boris than can be easily shot — too many bullets needed. universal boris. so, 2×4, if not boris, who rules? muhammed?
buddy–
I wasn’t asking for a specific answer, since if there was an easy answer, it would already be apparent.
However, it’s utterly pointless to say time will tell, because that’s pretty much a given.
I was asking about ideas on what approaches should be taken to change the current status quo. If you don’t have any, that’s fine, I’m just looking for those that do.
PSB/357
Well, despite Abdullah (Soddy king) assurances a few yars back that the Islamist radical thing is a bit overblown and they comprise mere 10% of all muslims (=120 million jihadis… you could hear a sign of relief in the interviewer’s voice) and despite a statement of Erdogan about a year ago that there is no such a thing as moderate Islam–just Islam, most of us make a distinction between muslims (especially nominal ones) and Islam.
However, it is possible that some of the Abdullah’s 10% will commit atrocities so horrible on behalf of the silent rest one day that you may be disinclined to find any distinction as a matter of pure survival instinct.
I have a bad habit of saying Muslims when I mean the mean nasty pigs that want to kill me. I do not like to be politically correct.
I have met nice muslims; they hang out at gas stations, but are they nice? Do they really like us, or is it the big lie? How do we tell the difference in between the boogey man muslims and goodie good muslims? Maybe the next time I go into a gas station with one working there I will recite some bible verses and watch his facial expressions.
Did the Soldier that was killed a few days ago know that was a boogey man muslim? He looked like a regular person to me. He did not have a sign on his person stating I AM THE BOOGAR MAN.
I tend to draw the conclusion that the muslims writing here are all of the boogey man muslim variety.
“I was asking about ideas on what approaches should be taken to change the current status quo.”
How about we let Western liberal elites tell us what Islam is or isn’t (and by extension, the threat it does or doesn’t pose) and ignore what the Muslims themselves say it is, both verbally and, more importantly, via their actions? Let’s also invent fictitious beings such as “secular Muslims” that must not be radicalized via fighting too vigorously the radical ones. If those are too complicated, I suggest dithering …
Tovarish, yes there is dime a dozen boris out there, trained feel-good monkeys, but they don’t rule, despite their illusions in that mold. It’s shoroshes (hungarian pronunciation) that do.
Anodyne/363 forgotten a /sarc tag.
A belated /sarc tag for twobyfour!
PSB/360
What options? We need to pull off a convincing deux ex machina, I think.
Anodyne, did not see the part “Let’s also invent fictitious…”. It is far superior to any /sarc tag, I humbly propose.
PSB @ 360; sorry –i thought you were inviting speculation. If you want a good hard answer, then nothing will work so well as we all becme muslims, and change the thing from the inside.
I thought anodyne’s “I suggest dithering” was pretty funny as well as a good, practical answer.
Laughing out loud at buddy’s 369: I get to pick up an additional 3 wives while I help reform Islam from within!
And I’ll use my additional 3 wives solely to help my 1st wife and me toilet train our twin 2.5 year old daughters!
371; Oh, boy –THAT’s gonna be a Happy Household!
oops, i made ‘happy household’ comment before i saw the training twin 2.5 yr olds line –hey that IS a job for five adults –if not 6 or 8 –in relay teams, 12 hrs on, 12 hrs off –
On second thought, perhaps I’m going to have to watch the internal subversion of Islam from the sidelines! Goodnight all!
“oops, i made ‘happy household’ before i saw the training twin 2.5 yr olds –hey that IS a job for five adults!”

Wow, just…wow. Gas stations? I hope this was a joke. Otherwise, you’re beyond ignorant. I’m an engineer at a software company. What about my 20-or-so Muslim coworkers? (I’m sure there are more, that’s about the number I’ve met personally in the departments I interact with.) Just because the contributions to society of Muslims throughout history have been grossly overstated or fabricated does not mean that many are not contributing to present-day society.
363–
I don’t care what the Western liberal elite says. I would listen to what an average Muslim says Islam is. At that point, I suppose it depends on which Muslims to which you’re talking.
Anyway, you continue to condemn the masses based on the actions of a few. That’s not something I can comfortably do.
Regardless, 363 and 369 made me chuckle
Whoops! My responses were to 361, 362, and 363, in that order. Goodnight all!

You may be right, but I certainly don’t think it has to come to that.
And you base that on what? Nightly shrieks of bald eagles? Tea leaves spread on finely chopped chicken liver?
I, on the other hand, listen to the shrieks of these 10%. Because I know all the good… muslims would do… nothing. That is how things were, that is how things are.
I’m definitely hope it doesn’t.
Are you going all hopey on me?
I make it simple for you. Deicide. Islam has to die so muslims don’t have to.
In a new piece, Daniel Pipes (Sultan Knish) says this: “Not all Muslims are terrorists. Not all Communists were dedicated to the destruction and enslavement of the free world. But Communism and Islam are both evil ideologies that call for the destruction and enslavement of the free world.”
Then he adds: “Stating that Islam is an ideology dedicated to war, conquest and murder; and that there is nothing moderate about mainstream Sunni or Shia beliefs does not mean that we must now fight every single Muslim on earth. This is a panicked Dhimmi reflex that assumes that we dare not offend Muslims for fear that they’ll come down on us all at the same time in a great murderous horde. In fact offending Muslims is our best hope for showcasing just how immoderate Islam really is, while rallying our side for the larger struggle to come.”

Marzouk,
“Saw it the first time. History is replete with tribes uniting to get their way through conquest, pillage, mayhem, rape and slavery. consider the age during which Islam was born. Consider also the Soviet revenge on Berlin, the most recent large scale non-tribal mass rape event!”
The spread of Islam is compared to Soviet aggresion? That statement is telling but not suprising. Both are ideologies that try to pass as faiths.
btw check out what Ayn Rand said about Israel and the surounding Muslims. Where indeed is John Galt?
Yesterday I heard it said that there was a great deal more “religious tolerance” and variety in the middle east at the time, 7th century, that The Prophet was receiving input from the Angel and unfolding the tenets of what, somewhere around 200 years after his death, was written down as the Koran.
These days, Islamic countries, see especially Saudi Arabia, are hugely intolerant of any other religion, try taking a Bible in your luggage into Riyadh, for example.
There was, at the very least, a substantial contingent of Jews in Medina, some of whom, it has been said, actually influenced Mohammed’s thinking & constructs.
Mohammed himself said intermediaries (religious leaders/authorities) were unnecessary in Islam, that the only relationship that mattered was the direct one between the believer and Allah, so what’s with the 1400 ensuing years of Hadiths, Sunna, religious scholars & commentary, anyway ?
Anyway, we potential dhimmis are way off base condeming all of Islam, no matter what is written down in the Koran relative to slaying unbelievers. I tend to think that advice to slay unbelievers, Jews et al. and etc. would have been very convenient for the maintenance of Mohammed’s lifestyle, 1400 years ago, and was the primary reason he may have received such advice from the Angel.
As for the original subject above, Barack Obama’s statement (IMO trying to ingratiate himself prior to Saudi Arabia/Egypt trip), it is shocking & depressing what a pass he gets from his cadre of True Believers when he says such outrageous stuff.
I remain unchanged in my supposition that Obamatrons are so struck, so taken with The One™, that this postmodern President feels like he can say damn near anything and get away with it.
tanstaafl, one might say, the fundamental trait of relativism being that nothing is absolute, that ten o’clock Tuesday is not the same as two o’clock Thursday, so as long as whatever is said on the one doesn’t have to hold true on the other, they can both be true “in their own time” even if by the “old standards of the past” the two statements happen to wildly contradict. This is where the New Age slips quietly into totalitarianism, because it is plainly obvious that under such conditions the path to truth is wherever the Big Man says it is, when he says it.
What to believe? Define “believe”. No, really.
Well, buddy, understanding this President and this presidency (or attempting to) in the context of…
Postmodernism
helps me assimilate my feelings of disconnected disbelief better than anything I’ve read.
I could throw in a little Schrödinger’s cat as well
I read the Left Behind series of books years ago, and I have to say Tim LaHaye and Jerry Jenkins were pretty accurate in their books.
I borrowed the books years ago, but I bought them today.
Check out this video….

I did not watch the movie Left Behind, but it should be so scary since it is happening now.

Not enuff kaffir? They hafta murder, anyone available will do.
Blowing up Mosques is the best testament that today’s Islamic fundamentalism is about power and control, and not about religion.
If they aimed to make people Moslems and true believers, they would be dragging them to Mosques to preach to them, not blowing them to bits while they pray.
How can any twisted mind justify that blowing up Mosques serves to enhance Islam? Were the Taliban trying to send them straight to God to answer their prayers!!!!
Should anyone be surprised that these people do not want the Taliban around, when they cannot even pray in peace without being killed?
The Taliban should be the ones called infidels since they are preventing good Moslems from prayer and running them away from Mosques.
There may be an idea here to discredit fundamentalists. Can we market that?
Cadmus
Cadmus, power and control IS their religion. Islam is a political ideology first, wrapped up in theology.
The real change would transpire when the muslims afraid to pray in mosques would start realizing that Islam is exactly that.
