Maybe the real “canary in the coalmine” isn’t Israel, but the UK. Westhawk writes, “imagine a government that has lost such control over its country’s internal security that it is forced to invite in a foreign intelligence service to help prevent a disaster. That describes the situation in Great Britain, according to this report from the Telegraph.”
American spy chiefs have told the President that the CIA has launched a vast spying operation in the UK to prevent a repeat of the 9/11 attacks being launched from Britain. … Intelligence briefings for Mr Obama have detailed a dramatic escalation in American espionage in Britain, where the CIA has recruited record numbers of informants in the Pakistani community to monitor the 2,000 terrorist suspects identified by MI5, the British security service.
A British intelligence source revealed that a staggering four out of 10 CIA operations designed to thwart direct attacks on the US are now conducted against targets in Britain.
America is — was — the security and financial guarantor of last resort for a Europe which has progressively pulled out its own teeth and multied its culture. One supposes that MI5 has turned to the knuckle draggers from the USA to do “jobs that Britons won’t — can’t — do”. But what happens when Hope and Change transform the knuckle draggers into the paragons of political correctness?
But some US intelligence officers are irritated that valuable manpower and resources have been diverted to the UK. One former intelligence officer who does contract work for the CIA dismissed Britain as a “swamp” of jihadis.
Jonathan Evans, the director general of MI5, admitted in January that the Security Service alone does not have the resources to maintain surveillance on all its targets. “We don’t have anything approaching comprehensive coverage,” he said.
Things ain’t what they used to be. The problems besetting the UK, the US and Europe are now clearly rooted not in one-time events like 9/11 but rather in an accumulation of changes, none of them fatal in themselves, but each like an incessant drip of water, progressively weakening the foundations. The causes are many: demography, a loss of cultural confidence, overborrowing — the reader can list them himself — but now they may be coming together in a perfect storm. If the West is to survive the crisis that appears to be beating at it’s door, it must first understand its origins. But that is the problem in itself. Like a deer paralyzed in the headlights the Western intelligensia seems capable of nothing more than repeating worn out phrases from the 1960s. It is shaken, but not stirred.

Alas, what can one say any longer about perfidious Albion? “The time has come, the walrus said, to talk of many things. . .” But not of a country to stand up for itself. ‘Tis a strange, strange world we live in. . .” F
The following news item from the UK does not inspire hope either:
From the Daily Mail:
“A high-ranking diplomat at the Foreign Office has been arrested after allegations that he launched a foul-mouthed anti-Semitic tirade.
“Middle East expert Rowan Laxton, 47, was watching TV reports of the Israeli attack on Gaza as he used an exercise bike in a gym.
“Stunned staff and gym members allegedly heard him shout: ‘F**king Israelis, f**king Jews’. It is alleged he also said Israeli soldiers should be ‘wiped off the face of the earth’. . . .
“Mr Laxton, who is still working normally, is head of the South Asia Group at the Foreign Office, on a salary of around £70,000.
“He is responsible for all the UK’s diplomacy in that area and for briefing Foreign Secretary David Miliband, who is Jewish.
“Mr Laxton has worked extensively in the Middle East – he married a Muslim woman in 2000 – and has been deputy ambassador to Afghanistan.”

I think the best term to describe the totality of pathologies afflicting the West is “Cultural Marxism”.
Many of you will know its origin is from the Frankfurt School communists whose plan we see succeeding in action on a daily basis.
’tis a sad state of affairs when government not only lacks but deters quantitative measurement of success and progress while the electorate remains incapable of judging the faux measures presented instead. But the latter allows the former, and what man does work not required of him today even though it might cost some stranger dearly in the future?
Am I missing something?
‘the CIA has launched a vast spying operation in the UK to prevent a repeat of the 9/11 attacks being launched from Britain.’
Because they did such a great job here, right?
Okay, I get the reprehensible nature of the high ranking diplomat’s anti-Semitic tirade, but you get arrested for that in the UK? Don’t they have free speech over there anymore?
Right, Sam, re cultural Marxism. Nice summary from a 2007 American Thinker by Linda Kimball right here: Cultural Marxism.
I reread it a couple of days ago and found it a bit eerie in light of what’s happened since it was written.
Yes, the West is shaken but not stirred, but remember Rome did not march on Carthage at the first provocation. It took Cato a long time to convince them that Carthago needed to be delenda ested. And when they were stirred, Carthage was no more. And so it shall be here.

Schadenfreude is a vice and more to the point the enslavement of our feckless cousins is not in our own interest.
@Asher Abrams,
Because the Bush administration, despite massive criticism from and treasonous obstruction by the NY Times, Congressional Democrats and moles within the bureaucracy, responded to the failures of the tools they had available on 9-11 in a manner that made them more useful and which did protect America.
@PA Cat,
Rooting out the infection is painful and in this case it may be to late to save the patient. When I was a child if I complained that the antiseptic on a scrape burned I was told that the sting was the scream the bad bugs made as they died. The enemies within will not go quietly.
If I were a big chief of an enemy or adversary, I wouldn’t lay a finger on Britain or America. An attack would interfere with the new admin doing your weaken-and-disarm-the-anglos work for you, and depending on circs might even bring in a war party on the next Ami election.
Better to lay off direct attack and let the 52% sheep concentrate on graze. The herd can be hurt badly from a distance anyway and it wouldn’t even be mad, it’d be so grateful that it didn’t have to get upset too much.
Allies hurt and/or flipped, oil, trade, raw mtrls, all can be weaponized and the attack managed at just below retaliation level and can be materially and spiritually productive even while all the while “holding talks” on how to build a stronger peace as soon as we “are willing to give a little bit” and solve these issues of cooperation and such. Losses to Russia, China, Iran, Venezuela, and/or the jihadi states, of all or part of such as say Israel, Saudi Arabia, r/o Mid East, Africa, Asia/Pacific, South America, can be easily written off as Bush expenditures –at least thru the 2010 midterms.
After that, the crystal ball is dark.
How long until there are no more British schoolboys who know of St. Crispin’s Day?
Wow. Less than three score and ten years after Neville Chambelain misspoke concerning “Peace in our time” his nation managed to position itself irrevocably in the downspout of history, and it is slowly swirling to its demise. Farewell, cousins. Too bad you lost your nerve, then your brains, then your freedom, then your lives.
The problem is not “Cultural Marxism.” It is women. Simple as that. The NYT has an article with women fantasizing about having sex with Obama. I kid you not.
Women’s attitudes about, well nearly everything shifted, radically, over a short period of time.
No other nation is as feminized, politically correct, kow-towing to Muslims, as the UK. What else could you expect?
After all, going after Muslim terrorists takes power, money, prestige, and so on away from political correctness, celebrities, fashion, and the usual PC nonsense from a profoundly feminized culture (and feminized men) to well, tough and dangerous men who gain power. It’s as simple as that.
Obama’s likely to cancel the whole thing. He’s also the Single Woman President (remember, Robert Reich says no White Men Need Apply). He WANTS the US to get hit, all the better to force surrender. Had he been President on 9/11 he would have promptly surrendered to and apologized to bin Laden.
maineman – No, not yet. Not quite yet. However; he should have been fired immediately. In fact, he should never have been employed in the first place.
You know GW is smiling ear to ear now a days, I bet he is laughing and crying at the same time, poor man has had done such a hard thankless job and now he is sitting back and watching all those eight years of work unravel in just weeks, he see’s the very people who demonized him stumble and fall through so many things he was able to walk thru with his head held high….
Those are good thoughts, Buddy. Got to have patience though, which the muzzies do.
I’m afraid for our country as I have never been before.
There is no doubt that the UK is cesspool of Jihads.
One would think that canceling visa waiver program for UK Islamists would be of great help.
Nah, that is too easy. Let’s spend billions to spy on them.
We got to stimulate the economy – the UK economy.
Whiskey:
The charming bad boy brute is a recurring female fantasy- similar to the Beauty and Beast fantasy, which is a female fantasy tale in almost all cultures, where the power of a female’s love turns this evil beast into a prince charming.
How times did you hear women in the 90′s even after Juanita Broderick convincingly accuse Charming Bad Boy Billy Clinton of rape, that they wanted to make love to him .
A lot.
Obama has the same kind of appeal.
Unsk–
How would you explain the sexual undertones (leg tingling and all that) in some male journos’ reactions to the Lightworker? I don’t recall any males (straight or gay) talking about Bubba that way.
Then there’s the possibility (I think Krauthammer was the first to mention this) that all this gooey stuff is just the flip side of BDS.
In any case, I can’t imagine Michelle likes the thought of competing with a bunch of lefty groupies– of either sex.
Good point, PA Cat. Hell, reading John Podhoretz this morning over at Contentions I got the distinct impressions he, too, had some tingling going on for BHO.
There’s some weird mess going on.
21 RattlerGator
I see what you mean about JPod– on the other hand, though, some of his commenters have the same reaction we do. Weird mess, indeed.
bob, I do not worry quite so much. The first step to killing your enemy is to fix him in your sights. They will eventually overplay their hand and America will mobilize, some before the others but most will eventually. The detractors will soon find themselves in the minority and I believe there will be some violent backlash. Those on the far right will remind those on the far left why we will never give up the right to bear (and use effectively) arms. Nothing motivates better than survival. Truly the meek shall inherit the earth- at least the six feet of it over their heads.
Sunday Telegraph:
A British intelligence source revealed …. according to intelligence sources in both London and Washington …. The British official said … There’s close cooperation with MI5 but they don’t tell us the names of all their sources.
Obviously, the UK is aware and permissive about this US effort. What advantages does the USA have over the UK in recruiting informants among Pakistanis inside the UK?
My first guess is that the CIA can offer immigration from the UK or from Pakistan itself into the USA. The CIA guy says, “collaborate with us for a while, and you and all your relatives can come live legally in the USA.”
My second guess is that the CIA can offer — this might be hard for us Americans to believe, but it might be true! — a feeling of better security. The Pakistani taxi driver in Manchester knows for sure that he can’t trust the UK’s M5 to keep his own collaboration secret, but he believes that the USA’s CIA surely will do so.
My third guess is that the CIA is not limited by some M5 regulations about recruiting informants. Maybe the CIA can pay more money. Maybe M5 is not permitted to recruit certain categories of residents, etc.
I won’t have to guess for long, though. I’m sure all these secrets will be explained in the newspapers during the next few days.
SpeakEasy: They will eventually overplay their hand and America will mobilize, some before the others but most will eventually. The detractors will soon find themselves in the minority and I believe there will be some violent backlash.
What I worry about is what happens after that violent backlash, especially if the backlash is of the “Three Conjectures” variety. Once the threat is removed, the danger has passed and the enormity of what we have done sinks in, you can bet that the Left will try to reassert itself with (literally) a vengeance. I expect a violent reckoning of Right vs. Left has to, and will, soon follow, and that it will be an order or two of magnitude nastier and messier than the first American Civil War, because it would by necessity happen all over the country, and frequently pit neighbor against neighbor, brother against brother, and in some cases even husband against wife.
Is turn about fair play? Can the British recruit and track Pakistani jihadis in the United States more effectively than the FBI does?
@Speakeasy,
I call bullshit, or Agent Provocateur or Moby. What is needed is hard work identifying the threats to Western Civilization, strengthening its institutions and championing its values. That does not mean advocating violence. The advocacy of violence to advance political goals is not the same as self defense and is the evil that we are combating. We do not defeat Islamism by becoming Islamists. This is not a 2nd Amendment issue but it is an issue of discrediting our host and endangering the freedom we have to keep this resource for liberty open by using it to call for killing people.
If Israel is no longer the canary in the coal mine, it is because Israelis have figured out it is prudent to fly out of coal mines, even if they have to do it with one wing tied behind their backs (metaphor alert).
Lifeofthemind reacting to Speakeasy is the essence of the problem facing those who believe in the Constitution (as it was written) and in individual freedom as advocated in the Declaration of Independence. Cultural Marxism has been a huge success, and no one can describe a realistic way (other than “strengthening our institutions”) of reversing the damage that it has done to several generations of Americans. Now we are all so politically correct that we cannot even talk about armed resistance without being chastized as “advocating violence”. The Left clearly sees this, though just to make sure, they strongly wish to implement “reasonable gun control”. And Lifeofthemind probably is correct in fearing that soon Internet sites will become restricted in what they can legally say (not just what they can say within the limits of political correctness). So we are like the fence sitters referred to in the Cultural Marxism post on American Thinker – fearing to act or to speak our minds (except within politically correct bounds).
“Not with a bang, but a whimper.”
Due to economic problems the US could decide that the most expedient and cost effective way to deal with the Jihadi problem is to destroy their funding sources and the funding leadership. Mining the ports and nuclear warfare could be the most cost effective way to do it. The elimination of the main cities of Iran, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Russia, N.Korea, Sweden, Netherlands, and England would go a long way toward quieting things down. “What!” You say, “The US would never do that.” Why not, we’ve been accused by the left of thinking it long enough. Maybe it is due some serious consideration, under the “strike while we can” rule.
“Not with a whim, but a banker.”
My mother was a war bride from the south coast of England and on a visit with her not long ago she stayed at her favourite old hotel, the Cumberland in London at Marble Arch.
She had not seen it for several years and was distressed at the numbers of strangely dressed, cold, rude and faintly hostile “foreigners” swarming about the hotel and the surrounding neighbourhood.
In 1996 in Paris at Les Invalides I saw a marble plaque with the following inscription (from memory):
Aux Sahariens
qui, par leurs efforts
et leurs sacrifice
ont pacifie et humanise
le desert.
(No accents, sorry. English keyboard)
I looked for it a couple of years ago. Gone.
From the French one expects this. They betray each other as shamelessly as they betray everyone else. ( I can say this, you can’t. Eleventh generation Quebec French, both sides. Except for me dear old Ma.)
Just before the invasion in June 1944, De Gaulle is said to have told Ike: “We will stun you with our ingratitude.”
And so they did, and continue to do so.
So the EU really did turn out to be “German muscle/French brain”, overrun by the dregs of the old French empire. It looks like the sacrifice of the old French Sahariens didn’t really “pacify and humanize the desert.”
Perhaps if the brave, naive and generous Americans had declined to clean the Germans out of France in 1944, the EU would today be overrun by Germans instead of Moslems.
The women of Paris, at least, would probably prefer it since they got along rather well with the German army during the Occupation, did they not.
The English reaction to the new occupation surprises me somewhat. The French does not.
“Both sides” = father’s side.
“The women of Paris” does not mean to denigrate them; they were sold out by their useless men who fought only with each other and who gave Paris (and their women) to the Germans as a gift. The women survived as they could.
If 40% of our counter jihadi ops are actually being carried out in Britain, I sure hope it’s not a case of “because the light is better there”. You know, kind of tied into the lack of foreign language skills discussion that has gone on here lately.
Plus there’s the fact that as far as foreign assignments go, GB is pretty sweet…
Last Bit; slow thinker. The point seems to be that the moslemization of the EU is the result of an idea originating in the “French brain”. D-Day was a mistake.
Demography is history. Kind of. Below are numbers from the 2001 census.
Interesting that the number of Christian immigrants is about the same as Muslim immigrants. (Sorry I didn’t take out the calculator.) Equally interesting, the number of Hindus and Sikhs is nearly equal to the number of Muslims. So what gives? One answer is in the final sentence below, in which we read that the Muslim community is “homogenous” while the other communities are not.
Here’s the data from the government site:
“The 2001 Census collected information about ethnicity and religious identity. Combining these results shows that while the population is more culturally diverse than ever before, White Christians remain the largest single group by far. In England and Wales, 36 million people (nearly 7 out of 10) described their ethnicity as White and their religion as Christian.
“Majorities of Black people and those from Mixed ethnic backgrounds also identified as Christian (71 and 52 per cent respectively). In total there were 810 thousand Black Christians and 347 thousand Christians from Mixed ethnic backgrounds.
“Among other faiths the largest groups were Pakistani Muslims (658 thousand) and Indian Hindus (467 thousand) followed by Indian Sikhs (301 thousand), Bangladeshi Muslims (260 thousand) and White Jews (252 thousand).
“The Indian group was religiously diverse. 45 per cent of Indians were Hindu, 29 per cent Sikh and a further 13 per cent Muslim. By contrast the Pakistani and Bangladeshi groups were more homogenous, Muslims accounting for 92 per cent of each ethnic group.”
Buddy writes:

Yes, this would be the right way for enemies to proceed. This is precisely the tack Reagan took with the Soviet Union. Wait for the weaknesses to appear in the foundations. Push. Stand back. Repeat as needed.
Bush had been doing this with Iran, with some success.

That day is here and now.
Western Europe got used to depend on the USA:
- militarily
- politically
- economically
and now a real anti-jihad “works”
Well, good luck to us all
Yah Wretchard,
that’s the beast:
“…demography, a loss of cultural confidence, overborrowing — the reader can list them himself — but now they may be coming together in a perfect storm. I believe the only way out is a real leader, since a mass revival of USA principles is DOA within USA educational system and self-indulgence. Is there such a leader out there and will the Trillions of unhealthy power dollars prevent his/her arrival?
We were asking Israel how best to defend ourselves after 9/11 and I fully anticipate we shall do so again in the (near) future. The Zionists seem to have the world situation figured out the best these days. Too bad they can’t seem to find anyone to elect who will push on through to the other side of victory.
Whiskey – after your repeated and redundant diatribes it occurs that you have never, ever, stated in simple declarative sentences what you propose to do about today’s main problem, which according to you, is women. What exactly is it you think needs to be changed to make the world a more copasetic place according to Whiskey? I’ll settle for a mere three suggestions from you as to what changes need to be made to cure whatever it is about women that you think needs to be cured.
I keep going back to the same (possible) solution: If the UK were to suddenly do an about-face and allow it’s people to arm themselves, as the 2nd amendment does in the US, does anyone here believe that it would in any way change the situation?
After all, if the enemy within knows that the entire population has been disarmed by law what has that enemy got to lose by bringing the country down? If, on the other hand, the enemy within understands that many people are now armed, it makes life a little more complicated for them – without even firing a shot.
My feeling is that when dealing with an “enemy within” the only solution is for the people to be in a position to defend themselves, and not rely entirely on soldiers and police, both of whom are in pretty short supply.
Whiskey @14
You say women are the problem… I can’t agree with you.
The way I see it, the fault lies with the individual (ok, I would say it lies with me)…it is up to me to do something; as an individual, I am the key (Frodo, not Denethor).
Of course, the issue is much more complex and there are many factors involved. Cultural Marxism is one. Identify politics and political correctness flow out of a political gobbledygook so well explained by Orwell’s Newspeak, the purpose of which, after all, was to ensure no incorrect thinking (indeed, no real thinking at all).
There is a controversial anthropologist, the late Marija Gimbutas, who thought there was a feminized, woman-centric culture during the early stone age in Central Europe. Part of the controversy of her thesis is what she read into the evidence (lots of interpretation) — nonetheless, some interesting observations and insights about what a feminized culture might be like. One of her books on the topic is called “Civilization of the Goddess”. Some of the characteristics of the culture she describes are echoed today, for example, women’s and men’s roles, family relationships and a generally feminine-based mythology. Gimbutas also says that this culture was on the whole peaceful, not “warlike”, and therefore not able to defend itself when the eventual encounter with male-dominated warrior cultures like the early, pre Indo-Europeans occurred.
I think of Islam as the perfect warrior mythology: spare; submissive to some “higher” perfection; unbending and militant; everything is spelled out for you; your enemies and what to do to them are clear; god, your family and your tribe are at the center of your world. I would add, somewhat in jest, that you also get all the women…whether you’re dead or alive.
During a visit to Russia 3 years ago, we met a man described as a closet Czarist. I have since decided that I am one as well.
While certainly enjoying the benifits of freedom, I am seriously disconcerted by the way freedom is used to promote degenerating behaviour, and I don’t see that this “democratic republic” system has much for legs, being only 200+ years old and headed off a cliff. You gotta know what stands for governance now is way, way off the mark from our founding fathers!!!
So, when we look around for a system that did have legs and had some measure of civility to it, what is there? 1000 years of Russian history under a Czar, for one. A long run for the Roman empire and Caesars for another and the Khans, too.
I am a quiet proponent now of a benevolent dictator. Roll up the welcome mat for followers of Mohamed, send the ones here back to where they will have lots of company. Pull the plug on abortion, stand down the IRS, sack the TSA (and make a note to smoke Mecca the first time we lose an airliner), break our own people of their cocaine habits, shoot drug trafficers at the scene, make the use of foul language in public a beating offense, you get my drift. Let there be peace and quiet. Lord, have mercy.
So, when the West falls to its 5th-columnists, will we look to Putin and his cohorts to save the rest of us? They seem to have done rather well in Chechnya, so far at least. And if so so, who will they purge first, our Moslem overlords or the useful idiots of the Left who have allied with them? The latter if history is any guide.
put me along the continuum somewhere between here and the reader Basil. i think we still want elections (Ivan the Terrible, under election pressure, would’ve been Ivan the Unpleasant0, but not universal suffrage. It’s the suffrage we’re suffering from. and nothing by way of testing is fair, except age. So, make the voting age 25.

Sounds like Conan the Barbarian!
Whiskey’s remarks do beg for some clarification from another angle. I don’t think there is a distinctly female plot to effect our civilizational suicide, but here is what I think is happening.
As one with only a very modest amount of academic experience as an educator, but who did make a lot of observations while I was in that environment I think I know part of the reason why cultural Marxism seems to have used females as a more prodigious vector. Women are better than men at memorizing and aping a teacher’s and professor’s social science, historical, and political views. We boys are a bit more obstreperous and rebellious. Even if it costs us better grades, we’ll butt our heads up against authority. Women are better at just taking it all in and integrating the memes and templates from academic settings.
Overall, our kids – nearly all of them, regardless of sex – have been all too well indoctrinated into multiculturalism.
If most of us no longer believe that our civilization is worth enhancing, defending, augmenting, spreading, and surviving it is because cultural Marxism has bludgeoned our sense that we do, despite the warts and all, have a unique and moral heritage.
I never bought into feminism. For me, I kind of thought it was redundant, because my Catholic Christian upbringing conditioned me to see all human beings as equal before the law and before God. Yet, it is certainly obvious that there are differences between male and female that transcend the anatomical. However, those differences are not any basis for canceling out the equality before the law and before God. Mistreatment and repression of women simply violated an ancient and eternally valid precept, as far as I was concerned, and that maltreatment had no true justification in scripture and theology, however much some have tried to bend things that way. Not to say that I think some of these past patterns are not now present ecclesiastically and in secular society.
In the final analysis, most people who are roped in by the general atmosphere of cultural Marxism are just lazy and cowardly, seeking the line of least resistance without any clue as to provenance of the worldview they carry within their minds and in their psyches.
PA Cat-
Billy Jeff has too much good ol’ boy in em. He may a lying bastard, but you know he’s a real man and a known skirt chaser. I don’t think he a traitor at heart either; a leftist at times yes, a traitor no.
With Barack, you don’t know what he is. When that gay hustler a few months back accused Barack of a cocaine addled gay encounter in the back of his van, the story had some legs because you can imagine Barack doing that. Barack also presents the cool ambiguous metrosexual demeanor that appeals to both gay men and the girlie boys.
Both men had difficult childhoods, and were abandoned by a father. They learned to lie to survive. But Billy Jeff had a loving mother; Barack had a monster for a mother, who abandoned him too. That is why Barack is far more troubled and dangerous than Billy Jeff. Bill has some genuine love in him. Barack does not except for himself. He is much more the consummate liar and actor, who only acts out as if he loves his country on cue, when he in reality he doesn’t at all. Barack can coldly reel off conservative sounding lines to give him the All American appeal , and then turn around and pull off some marxist trick like his marxist Health Care scheme in the stimulus fraud.
@Buddy. It’s the suffrage we’re suffering from. and nothing by way of testing is fair, except age. So, make the voting age 25.
Buddy, surely you mean 35.
a council of elders would prob be best of all.
With the kids asleep, it’s now time for something completely different.
In the manner of Walt the Bard and Edward Fitzgerald’s The Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam of Naishapur:
——
The Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam of Londonistan
Wake! For the man who has entered your land
Cometh not to submit but rather command
He brings to this Isle his own rule of law
And a vision of Caliphates ancient and grand.
His purpose in life is exceedingly clear
To read the Koran and not Edward Lear
He prays on his knees like the Papists of old
But four times a day, and never with beer.
His daughters and wives he views as his chattel
Property owned like his grandfather’s cattle
He oft sports a beard of a billy-goat style
And scowls like a soldier preparing for battle.
The city he lives in is foggy and gray
Like the life that he led in a land far away
He’s happy to have all the goods of the West
Though he worries its power will soon make him gay.
So he shelters himself in a zone of his kind
While his fears and his imam play tricks on his mind
He starts to hang out with a dubious crowd
Who plans a jihad with a hatred so blind.
As he wishes to go on a mission for Allah
He’s heads off to train with a guy from Hezbollah
It’s easy as pie to learn decapitation
Especially when taught by a dude from Ramallah.
He returns to his flat on Marylebone Road
And waits for his orders in Arabic code
In the meantime he acts as if nothing’s afoot
And prays for his chance to make something explode.
Meanwhile the Brits try to crack down on terror
Looking around for the C-4 vest wearer
But lacking resolve and the technical prowess
They turn to the Yanks to help avoid error.
American agents have talent and verve
But the Brits are too docile, their famous reserve
Undermine all the efforts to find the bad guys
So the CIA let’s them get what they deserve.
The day finally comes, and our man makes his move
He straps on the Semtex, it’s now time to prove
That he’s ready for virgins, his payment in full
For blowing up Brownie: the Brit to remove.
His pathway to heaven sees a Yank intervene
At Buckingham Palace, the home of the Queen
With a flash and a bang, they both are sent skyward
Along with some tourists – a horrible scene.
The press is dispatched, The Guardians and Mails,
The Telegraph, Times, and a stringer from Wales
Photos are snapped, and broadcasts made live
And stories are written with sordid details.
Within a few hours, there’s general concurrence
Islam’s not to blame for this horrid occurrence
Instead it is obvious to all who were there
It’s all Bush’s fault, for a lack of deterrence.

I just occurred to me that posting something like this at the end of a thread is probably a waste…
Off to bed.

wow, that’s good stuff –got a point and a punch line, the hardest part (damn that Bush) !
walt emeritus too, wrote a multiverse one –meant to go back to it. it’s out there, but….wherrrre?
nah, not a waste –the small talk at the door as folks depart –readers know the topic is alwyas up a little ways –
L3, I think Rubaiyat…of Londonistan is your best one yet. Don’t take a cure when you keep getting better. So, sorry, no help here for your affliction, but one must suffer a little for their art, eh? And if you’re like me, once you get interested in a thread, you read it all the way through to the end. (There’s only been one I quit on.) Don’t know how typical that is but I can’t be the only one. Anyway people here don’t strike me as likely to have short attention spans. A lot of great posts here and – a bonus! – some fun verse thrown in for good measure.
fred – I like your distinctively phrased observation that women have been “better social vectors” for cultural Marxism, which I daresay even whiskey realizes is the greater threat to us all, not to mention the one more likely to be conspiratorial.
Whiskey makes the same tired point over and over and over. What for? As a matter of fact, this division into male and female for the purpose of determining who’s responsible for where America went wrong is arbitrary anyway. It sheds a certain light on things but it doesn’t explain everything. You could split people into other divisions and come up with other scapegoating theories about what’s wrong. Demagogues do this all the time, and people listen to them because they make superficial sense and strike a chord of emotional response, which is what really drives the point home, for men no less than women. I agree with you that men and women are different, but it’s no less true that we have more in common with one another than we do with anything else.
i’ve got three daughters, all cultural marxists in that any cash i might have needs sharing STAT!
So, make the voting age 25.
And make the public service age 55.
Obama has the same kind of appeal.
Like the third Wild and Crazy Guy that Steve Martin and Dan Ackroyd wouldn’t be seen with. Reducing Obama to an issue of sex appeal is an extraordinary rendition of collective sanity.
It’s the creeping crud of incrementalism that is eroding the national identity and sense of purpose and exposing vulnerabilities that present target-ready objects. For the last 30 years the internal vectors of decay were balanced – disguised really – by the dynamism of explosive global markets. The growth of street-gang violence in alliance with narco-traffic is another indicator of family and institutional failure. The Jihadists are also leveraging the weariness of the western world with eternal war between Israel and the Palestinians.
But I am sure we all worry too much. Reports of the death of the USA are greatly exagerated. Until they aren’t.
Leo Linbeck for Limerick Laureate!
The denizens at the end of the thread appreciate the verses
WRT Slade & Buddy,
So, make the voting age 25.
And make the public service age 55.
Ditto age 25 and only those whose income exceeded their government handouts can vote. NB this allows government employees which is sort of the problem.
As soon as >50% of the people live off the gov. the game is over (we’re a republic):
“a democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government. A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover that they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse due to loose fiscal policy, which is always followed by a dictatorship.”
— Andrew Tytler, 19th century British politician
ooola I found a perl here :
a Kanadu that pretends to know our history,
but can he locate the Pisa tower (yes, a joke among the french expats in Kanadu)
“Près de 600.000 tirailleurs, goumiers et spahis, venus du Maghreb, d’Afrique sub-saharienne et de Madagascar, ont été enrôlés sous l’uniforme français. 70 000 combattants musulmans morts à Verdun 1914-1918″
http://www.saphirnews.com/Hommage-aux-soldats-musulmans-morts-pour-la-France_a3763.html
though I expect that it concerned (Rommel anyone ?) :
“Oubliés de l’histoire officielle
En 1944, à la veille du débarquement allié en Provence, l’armée française compte 550 000 hommes, dont plus de la moitié venus des colonies : 134 000 Algériens, 73 000 Marocains, 26 000 Tunisiens et 92 000 originaires d’Afrique noire. En août 1944, la première armée de De Lattre se composait de 112.000 ” indigènes ” (Marocains, Algériens et Tunisiens) sur les 214.000 soldats”

From the French one expects this. They betray each other as shamelessly as they betray everyone else. ( I can say this, you can’t. Eleventh generation Quebec French, both sides. Except for me dear old Ma.)
LMAO, uh, la belle province is rather bitter, umm sorry that we can’t venere you as the our elite, and I spare you the details why !!!
Just before the invasion in June 1944, De Gaulle is said to have told Ike: “We will stun you with our ingratitude.”
source ?
And so they did, and continue to do so.
So the EU really did turn out to be “German muscle/French brain”, overrun by the dregs of the old French empire. It looks like the sacrifice of the old French Sahariens didn’t really “pacify and humanize the desert.”
Perhaps if the brave, naive and generous Americans had declined to clean the Germans out of France in 1944, the EU would today be overrun by Germans instead of Moslems.
we would have spoken RUSSIAN, that’s the major raison why the Americans came in 1944, and help the British, a fortiori us, but it wasn’t for de Gaulle’s sake that they hated !!!
it didn’t disturb Roosvelt that Germany was ruling Europe so long the Germans and “their divisions” were fighting against the soviets, even Pie XII wasn’t condamning them for what the Nazis were imposing on to the Jews, cause of the bloody crusade against the commies !!!
The women of Paris, at least, would probably prefer it since they got along rather well with the German army during the Occupation, did they not. yeah Source ???
The English reaction to the new occupation surprises me somewhat. The French does not
http://www.gutenberg-e.org/esk01/frames/fesk05.html
here it is said that the Vikings and Dutchs were much better collaborators, umm, and that the frenchs had no enthousiasm !!!
I tend to trust the gutemberg link more than a bilious Kanadu
Isn’t it really that the English have a class society — as do the French, as do most of Old Europe?
Even when the Nordic Ones profess all of their socialism, they never socialize with auslanders — so there is still no way to work out of the ghetto.
BHO’s election is another nail in the coffin of the old skin-based class wars in the USA — and right on time.
The egalitarian nature of US society (and maybe it’s insurgent Christianity) is the only known foil for the Islamic insurgency.
If there is to be victory in repulsing an islamic takeover, Bin Laden will be one, remembered by his own, of the “fools” that gave stellar advanced warning to the enemy.
Those in Islam who see a war with the West and an advantage over democratic society, will see that the wrong signals were sent and it might just have cause the loss of the single greatest endeavor.
Meanwhile, USA needs to to continue to force equal opportunity at every turn. I expect yowls on this thread, but part of that duty belongs to the Democrats. They need to Yang with the Yin of nationalism and commerce and property rights that the Republicans bring to the work table.
Nuclear proliferation, European movement to the Left, an Axis of Evil Rivals, nor the dissolution of Free Trade are forgone conclusions — that is, unless you folks are ready to throw in the towel now.

“I’ll settle for a mere three suggestions from you as to what changes need to be made to cure whatever it is about women that you think needs to be cured.”
I really think things have gone too far to “cure” the situation, Nahncee. I think, looking at the voting pattern in the recent presidential election, the paralysis caused by female inspired political correctness, and the never ending obsessions and diatribes of the feminazis, that “postmodern” western woman has become a self-correcting aberration.
In two senses: low birthrate and by a measure of silliness that spells the end of western civilisation’s abilty to defend itself from the barbarians that women seem so fascinated with.
And it all feels like Monty Python. What a hoot.
A civilisation sinking of the weight of its own delusory mental projection.
echo ???
Cher Cosmeau Bugleweed,
