Marble Statues Are Now Racist...

Picture a Roman emperor or a Trojan soldier. Are you thinking of a white guy? Sarah Bond, a professor at the University of Iowa, says you’ve been led to believe that because the marble statues we see of them are white. She says that, at one time these statues all had paint on them– they had polychromy. Now that the paint has peeled off, we see them as only white, while the actual figures they depict were probably more Mediterranean in complexion. Yay, social justice warriors have found a new thing to call racially insensitive!
