Ahmadinejad Charms the Yalies
Thanks to Hillary Leverett, the Yale prof and female member of the well known Flynt and Hillary Iran appeasement team. She set it up, and–according to the Yale Daily News account–neither she nor any of her students seemed to notice that Iran kills Americans most every day.
Leverett said she thinks students took away from the meeting in New York that Ahmadinejad is “not a crazy, irrational leader,” and whether students agree with him or not, he has a strategy for Iran. She added that she also hopes students understand “that it will take a lot more from the U.S. if we want to have a real policy of engagement.”
Not all the students were charmed.
Ahmadinejad also spoke about his vision for an approach to international relations governed by justice and righteousness, said Osman Haneef GRD ’11, another member of the class.
“In some sense, justice in the international system sounds great, but not the kind of justice he is looking for,” he said.
More good news: the females in the group didn’t cover their heads. Have a look:

Yale should advertise this sort of thing: “for a mere 40-50 thousand dollars a year, your kids can meet the worst people in the world, guided by professors who think it’s mainly our fault.”

Like a cartoon from Punch in the days of the Empire.
Yet more support for the position that any school which denies military recruiters should be denied federal funding.
Only the guilty fear the REAL 9/11 investigation.
what is THAT supposed to mean? if you want to endorse Ahmadinejad, try another place, please.
Shame on Yale and shame on the Leverett appeasement duo. What idiots!
This is just sick! These students will regret their treachery for the rest of their lives and be ashamed to tell their children about it.
Whatever happened to student solidarity?! The old man to the right of Ahmadinejad is Hamid Molana, a former pal of the Shah’s playboy brother who owes everything he has to a US embassy scholarship he received at 19 but is now Ahmadienjad’s advisor and is happy to walk over the US flag:

hey potkin,
why you don´t you safe your desperate iranian-expat-hatred for your own blog?
with all respect, but appeasement with iran is the only way for the US to have a say in the middle east.
i am sorry that this fact does not fit in your personal political belief, but this whole thing is more important than the opinion of a bunch of iranian expats who want to revenge for a revolution they had lost.
some will thank god in the future that through the leveretts the US has still the capacity for appeasement.
anyway, there is no other way for the US. the era of dominance at the gulf is over.
best
Ulash
Hey Ulash, why don’t you save your moral equivalence and weak ethics for another blog like Newamerica.net, Hillary and Flynt’s brainchild? They would love to have you. It isn’t only expats that hate traitors like Molana and Ahmadinejad. it’s pretty much any human being who likes not to be maimed, tortured, and robbed blind.
I would sooner burn my bank book than spend a plug nickel on any of the Ivies.
Truly. They are cesspools filled with profs who indoctrinate in place of educating, where immoral equivalence passes for open minded discourse, and on and on the craziness swarms.
May they self implode-(Stuxnex-style)faster, faster PLEASE!!
Do you really think all students at Yale in this class are going to be mindless sheep ready to be brainwashed into Leverett & Ahmadinejad’s policy views? Last time I checked, George H.W. Bush and Bill Clinton – both Yale alums (not to mention the laundry list of policy advisors who came from there too) – are pretty tough on Iran.
I wish my teachers in university would have been half as pro-active as Leverett was here in bringing in speakers familiar with the subject. At the end of the day, all the woman did was manage to bring in just about one of the biggest and controversial names on her topic into her class in order to help stimulate discussion amongst her students. If that isn’t commendable in academia, then we’ve lost sight of what academia in an open society is meant to be.
I would love to see video of that particular class session, to form my own opinion on it. Who knows? In the future, these sorts of big-name lectures might broadcast themselves online with questions from the global audience.
I wouldn’t call them mindless sheep, but rather, drones.
There is more to education than facts and figures, for as Richard Pipes relates in “A Concise guide to the Russian Revolution”, character formation takes place as well.
( It brings me back to the time when in Junior High, the animated movie “Animal Farm” was shown, and the horses that came after boxer did not question the pigs)
So, using the terminology of “The case for Democracy”, there are plenty of true-believers, and only so many who
see the flaws, but don’t give voice to them.
It isn’t so much the students, but the Professor, who gives lunatics a platform of false legitimacy. I know Ajad is unfortunately a (self-appointed) world leader, but he’s still a lunatic. And the MORE places he’s taken and the MORE face time he has at big name places like Yale, the more everyone will start to think he’s not so crazy after all. It’s all just a PR ideological mind game devised by people like Hillary and Flynt.
I have a high school senior who is applying to Yale and Columbia both. I would not want this knucklehead to have the opportunity to speak at either university, but given that he gets this sort of venue to spout his hatred, I would want my daughter there both listening and dishing. And if my daughter had the opportunity, I would want her to ask this fellow what he thinks about the views of one particular expert, Michael Ledeen. It would be an insider question that perhaps no one else in the room would understand. But I bet that Ahmadinejad would, and that it would rattle him beyond anything else that might be asked. My daughter, by the way, would relish having that opportunity.
Love it love it! Three cheers to you and your daughter and Dr. Ledeen.
Dear drellburg,
Spend 40+ grand a year for her to question a faculty member a question that will get her a 2.5 GPA?
They won’t fail her out as long as you pony the loot but forget about the “Honors” on the resumes.
Dethrone the elitists. Tenured academia, ruling class Washington politicians, leftist mainstream media, the U.N. Cut them all off at the knees, do not offer one penny of support or one second of your time, and mock them at every opportunity.
Our fearless Iranian Leader is indeed a lunatic but many of the comments on this site make me think he’ll have plenty of company on that happy day he’s carted off in a custom fitted jacket. It’s clear from the student comments that they weren’t swayed by anyone. A real education should challenge and provide an opportunity to confront uncomfortable and disturbing ideas. I think I’ll double my contribution to Yale this year.
