Barney Frank is one of the most overrated “intellects” in this town. He could only be considered “smart” when compared to his Congressional colleagues. Not for nothing do they have a ten percent fan rating. Barney recently said that “the Iraqis” want us out of their country, but Jay Nordlinger spoke to an Iraqi military officer: “You should have met the Iraqi colonel who said, if we Americans leave too soon, we will turn over the country to al-Qaeda and Iran — and people like him will have to flee for their lives.”
But Barney, and his man Obama, really don’t give a damn about such Iraqis (which is to say, MOST Iraqis); they’re all about punishing America. Nor, apparently, do Obama’s many minions. When Hitchens, who once actually accused me of mass murder, belched up his pathetic endorsement of the Messiah, all he could say about his man’s foreign policy was “the Obama-Biden ticket is not a capitulationist one, even if it does accept the support of the surrender faction.” Which is kind of like saying that all the calls for “negotiations” with Iran are simply catering to the idiots who support him, and leaves you with a choice between two unpleasant explanations: either Obama believes it (which would make him a dreadful Commander-in-Chief), or he doesn’t (which would make him an embarrassing panderer, with no reason to think he’d change in office).
On the other hand, you have to wonder just how stupid Barney is. After all, he’s one of the major culprits in the financial crisis, and yet not only does nobody really lay a glove on him, but mostly he gets praise as some sort of wizard. Getting away with idiocies like “the Iraqi people want us out” is nothing compared to that.

When did Hitchens accuse you of mass murder? In an article? It’s a shame to see him revert back to his pre-9/11 form. For the past five or six years or so, I liked his prose, and I enjoyed reading his stuff. It was good to see someone on the left still not fall prey to moral equivalence and ambiguity when comparing the U.S. to its adversaries.
But his support for perhaps the most-”capitulationist” candidate in our history really undermines everything he’s said about the necessity to intervene in Iraq. It shows it was all BS. Obama’s been campaigning for nearly two years, now — he’s been in the Senate 1/3rd of one term, and 2/3rds of that 1/3rd he’s been running for president — and has yet to bring himself to talk about winning in Iraq. He can’t say “victory.” He’s running for Commander-in-Chief, not chief social critic, or top commentator, or university president. Even if Obama doesn’t believe winning in Iraq is important, at least pay some lip service to the troops. He won’t even bring himself to do that.
And Hitchens says that isn’t capitulationist? Obama told David Brooks Hamas and Hezbollah have “legitimate claims.” How was this not news? How is that not capitulationst? He blames Wahhabism on the Asian financial crisis of the 1990s; he blames the cause of fascism and terrorism on our resistance against it.
And he accuses you of mass murder? It’s sad. I used to like reading his articles, but I’m done with him now. His reasons for opposing McCain are infantile. McCain, on this issue alone, has been at the forefront since the 1990s. When Gov. Bush was talking about “humbling ourselves” around the world, McCain was warning about Putin, and talking about “rogue state rollback” with Iran, Iraq, Libya, and North Korea.
In a just universe, McCain would have won in 2000, and Giuliani would have ran for Gov. of NY or something in 2002, and would have been the GOP nominee today.
I’ve had my eyes opened to the truth about Barney Frank by this financial crisis: the man is an arrogant idiot. His bragging of plans to massively increase taxes and gut defense spending should be a gift to McCain. I hope he makes use of it.
I thought Marxism only existed in Cuba, North Korea and College campuses of the US. But I was wrong. It exists within the halls of the US government too.
Braney Frank is a discusting fat idiot.
If they want to meet the quota in the house, why not replace “him” with Elton John or Bernie Taupin? At least those two can sing and write music well!
