I’m catching up with the latest developments on the much-debated question of talks with Iran. The first comes from the mullahs’ vice president for media affairs, a certain Mehdi Kalhor. He announced two “preconditions”: America has to get out of the Middle East, and must end its support for “the Zionist regime.”
No matter, the demand to use the “diplomacy weapon” continues to rattle around the commentariat, as for example from MJ Rosenberg of the Israel Policy Forum, writing in Haaretz . But then, calls for negotiation are the raison d’etre for both IPF and Haaretz, so no surprise there. It will be interesting to see if any of the negotiation-as-a-weapon crowd, from James Baker Brent Scowcroft to Barack Obama, take notice of the Iranian “preconditions.” Some of the American would-be negotiators would of course love to see us end our support for Israel, since they believe that the problems in the Middle East are caused by it. But there aren’t many of them, and aside from Pat Buchanan and his merry band of anti-Semites there are even fewer to say to publicly. Unless they have endowed chairs at Harvard and Chicago, that is. And fewer still would be advocates of an American retreat from the Middle East.
Meanwhile, none of them seems to have noticed that we’ve been negotiating with Iran for thirty years, with no measurable success.
Earlier in the week, Foreign Minister Manucher Mottaki was interviewed by the WaPo’s Lally Weymouth. She asked him whether the Iranians would regard an Israeli attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities as an attack by the United States. He said “In the Middle East, [no one] makes a distinction between the U.S. and Israel.”
And that’s the point, of course. All those people who think we can escape from Iran’s war against us, if only we’d ditch the Israelis, are, well, fools. The Iranians view America and Israel as integral parts of a vast satanic continuum, against which they are waging jihad. We’re the Great Satan, the Israelis are the Little Satan, but we’re both demonic forces and we must be destroyed.
The Iranians keep saying this, but nobody wants to listen. That’s why I’m writing a book called Accomplice to Evil; Iran and the War Against the West. It deals with the many occasions in the twentieth, and now the twenty-first centuries when we should have seen evil emerging, and defended ourselves against it before the conflict became global. Iran is the most recent case.
Why do we refuse to see evil when it is so plain? Stay tuned.
The presposterous preconditions set forth by the Mullahs is just a fishing line to see if America’s stance is changing. Just like the red and white floater one casts into the lake the Mullahs wait for a bob or two. With Obama set to be President the Mullahs want to test the waters. They should be reminded that it has been the Democratic Party that supported Israel more than the Republicans over the years. Do you think Jews overwhelmingly support the Dems for nothing? Even though the Dems have shifted drastically leftward be assured they will still support Israel virtually unconditionally, Obama included. And now with Russia rearing its ugly head it’s time for Israel to test Russia’s latest gadgetry they have sold to the Arabs. America needs to learn how they perform in real time. The Dems are not fools they just want to regain control of the White House. Then it will be business as usual.
Our leaders refuse to see evil when it looks us in the face because to many of our leaders, we, the US, are the evil ones and any act of aggression against us is justified because of this misconception. The Obamas and Liberals of the world would rather us do everything that Iran asks and still face terrorist threats than defend ourselves because our greatness is the actual evil, not the Mullahs in Tehran.
The outsiders (I mean those who have no clue) do not understand that the day Mullahs of Iran cease their hostilities towards the Great Satan, Jews and the west it will be their last day in power. This criminal regime is benefitting from animosity towards the west. It is dependent on this hostility and was founded on it. Like I said, if they abandon their primary source of survival which is animosity towards the western values, it will be their last day in power. These morons in the State Dept and intellectual circles have no clue and probably will never learn. Btw, I am looking forward to your book.
Soon, a President B.Hussein Obama will mean surrender to Islamist-Fascists camp, especially to its main headquarters in Tehran.
Russia has sensed the US weakness coming, and is already flexing its muscles all over the world, from georgia to Libya to Venezueal to Iran.
There is still a window of opportunity: After B.Hussein gets his landslide on Nov.4th, we(meaning either the Great Satan or the Little Satan); ought to attack Iran with all we got, targeting the regime’s power centers and more, while conducting simultaneous assassinations of all of the regime’s leaders, bar none. Starting with European mullahs Khatami and Rafsanjani, and on down(Sorry liberals, we cannot save your buddy mullahs Khatami(Biden and Kerry’s pal), et al, all must go.)
That window is approaching and its between Nov.5th and January 18th –This is our LAST CHANCE, or we’re looking at a nuclear IRI with another lease on life for decades more.
If Bush does not muster up his all-but-gone courage, shake off Iran appeasers like Condi and Yellow Bob Gates, and actually support this strike, he will go down in infamy forever, even more than if he does not do it.
