this is nothing
go to any whole foods or farmers market in west la for the real thing
Reading an S. Clay Wilson comic for the one millionth time is funnier than that. Then there’s the new team of Laurel and Hardy.
Of course we live in a age where 3 flat and boring Batman movies are being heralded as one of the greatest film trilogies of all time. Julie Newmar is probably saying a thank you prayer she was never handed such a lifeless script.
Onion, get the hell off my lawn.
Of all things overrated in this world, my belief is that The Onion is #1.
I thought it was funny. You have to step back and be able to see how silly, pretentious, navel-gazing, “globally conscious”, narcissistic and “precious” this generation is. Each generation has it’s foibles, and these are this one’s.
So, apparently mine is grammar. “ITS”, not it’s.
I agree the subject matter is definitely there. They just didn’t nail it.
Jeez, I can’t help but think that 87% of The Onion’s writers were married just this way.
That may be. And this couple is truly irritating but I really think the prime motivator behind this clip is that whoever wrote it has seen some of his friends happily married and is overcome with jealous rage.
About two rewrites away I’m afraid — during which the author(s) could ponder the home truths that 1) if you have to TELL your viewer what the joke is (in this case that the couple is obnoxious) it probably isn’t sufficiently funny or clever yet, 2) less is more in satire and 3) nothing says “I have nothing” more than gratuitous vulgarity.
I thought this was pretty hilarious. I have been to a lot of weddings in NYC/Brooklyn and have seen a lot of bicycles built for two on invitations, owls, bowties, ironic mustaches, cupcakes, 50′s picnic dresses, tattoos of sparrows. I agree with the above poster that so many people of this generation try way too hard to be “precious”.
Somehow this describes the “unique personality” of nearly everyone we know. So everyone ends up looking liked some studied knock off of Zoey Dechanel, combined with Betty Boop or James Dean.
I particularly enjoyed the “instagram photo booth”.
This is an awesome article about what a poser medium instagram is:
All I have to say to that bride and groom is pass the bong…
