A Test of Fire for Catholics in 2012
A powerful video launched by a group called Catholics Called 2 Witness has launched, in the name of freedom, an all out assault on the social policies put forth by President Obama.
When a non-Catholic, churchgoing friend sent me this video the message said: You don’t have to be Catholic to appreciate this ad, peaking my interest.
As a person of faith here is my interpretation of the “ad” and its underlying message.
The use of fire — a biblical symbol of God’s awesome power – is a demonstration by the Almighty of His intent to destroy or conversely to show His approval of man’s behavior.
In this video God’s people, i.e. the Catholic Church (but really all believers), must triumph over the anti-biblical social policies of the Obama administration (that are ultimately more important to fix than our nation’s economic problems in the eyes of God). But this important victory will only occur if HIS people rise up and vote Obama out of office. Otherwise our nation will be consumed by the fires of hell.
The video with over 1.3 million views is starting to go viral which means its strong message and imaging will be up for much political, social and religious interpretation.
As usual, I expect the comments of PJ Media readers to be among the most insightful.

I watched and shared this when it first came out. One thing I like about it is the meanings of fire. Phrases like “fires of adversity” and “refiner’s fire”. To me, the world may want one thing, but God can use the refiner’s fire to forge us into something different.
The Protestant hymn “How Firm a Foundation” has a great verse in it:
When through fiery trials thy pathways shall lie,
My grace, all sufficient, shall be thy supply;
The flame shall not hurt thee; I only design
Thy dross to consume, and thy gold to refine.
This video reminded me of that verse.
The church I used to attend in Old Town Alexandria, Virginia used to sing that hymn, “How Firm a Foundation” every year on Robert E. Lee’s birthday because that was his favorite hymn and Lee attended that church. I immediately thought of refiners fire when I saw the video.

Awesome video – very powerful! Hurray to the Catholic Church for standing up for a Bible-based moral compass that does not change or “evolve” as Obama’s does. Something is either truth or it isn’t. Truth is not evolving.
Please? “Pique”, not “peak”. Using the wrong word here gives it an opposite meaning.
piqued your interest. Piqued.
Ari, thank you, you came in an hour before me. I checked with my trusty Fowler’s, too.
The Church has become an obsticle to my faith. Frankly, they are all over the bible in attempting to establish policy. I am a life-long Catholic and a 42 year union member. I contribute to my parish as a part of my retirement income (which is outstanding because it is a union pension). If yuou know a union republican I got a bridge for sale. So, the church favors this person they call the Governor. Then they come to the congregation as ask for an increase in contributions to pay for the less fortunate. That’s sounds like Walmart tale to me!

Having finally watched this video, I am so proud to be a Christian, even if not of the Catholic persuasion
