Jonah Goldberg said Friday, on “Special Report With Bret Baier,” that President Obama’s statements on the Affordable Care Act will go down “as the biggest single domestic policy lie in presidential history.”
It’s “just simply factually untrue,” said Goldberg, at-large editor of National Review Online, when discussing the President’s prior statements on how the Affordable Care Act would allow people to keep their insurance and that premiums wouldn’t go up.
“From the beginning, President Obama’s statements about how you can keep your insurance, your premiums won’t go up will go down in history, conceivably at least, it looks like it, as the biggest single domestic policy lies in presidential history. It is just simply factually untrue and there is copius data, copius video of him saying these things.”
Larry Kudlow wonders the GOP is offering to delay the rollout of Obamacare:
The net economic effects of Obamacare also will become more apparent as large companies with heavy numbers of low-wage workers cut back on hiring, reduce hours worked, take on part-timers whenever possible, and send their workers into the Obama exchanges. But those workers won’t wind up in the exchanges. They’ll end up in Medicaid, which is already going bankrupt.
And who’s paying for that bailout? We are. The taxpayers.
The mainstream media have in large part turned against Obamacare, and all these factoids are going to be reported. So that raises the question regarding 2014: Do Republicans really want to bail out Obama by handing him a year’s delay? If all the flaws in Obamacare do pan out, they may well overshadow the shutdown negatives suffered by the GOP.
I think I am lining up on Chris Ruddy’s side. There’s an old political adage: if your opponent is determined to hang himself, for Heaven’s sake, don’t take away the rope.

And perhaps Barack Obama has a plan for what happens when the easy problem (no one can access the website) is solved and the hard ones (the plans available on those websites are going to make people scream in horrified rage, and/or not bother to get insurance after all) remain. But if he doesn’t – and I don’t think people in the administration are thinking that far ahead – the American people will look for somebody making a functional response to the situation that will make sense. And that somebody will almost certainly be somebody who cannot win the Democratic nomination for President.
That would be my take, at least. I guess we’ll see.
