Interview: Jim Geraghty on the 2012 Presidential Election
On Saturday, the last day of the National Review Cruise this past week, Jim Geraghty of NRO’s Campaign Spot blog, dropped by for an in-depth discussion of the 2012 presidential election. During this wide-ranging 18-minute interview, recorded poolside in the “Monte Carlo” cabana of the MS Nieuw Amsterdam as she sailed back to Fort Lauderdale, FL, Jim discussed:
● Did Mitt Romney outperform the Republican brand in 2012?
● Are Republicans in danger of being branded the Mean Party to their detriment?
● How much did Romney’s 47 Percent remark hurt his chances?
● How the election came down to less than 450,000 votes.
● What is the relationship between culture and politics?
● Where does the Tea Party go next?
● And much more.

– cruise. If only the GOP had listened, then no Ship of Fools.
One fundamental mistake was made that shaped the 2012 election.
It was assumed that since the GOP won big time in 2010, the GOP
nominee would have inherent advantage over Obama in 2012.
No so. Take first the 2008 electoral map. But instead of outlining the various counties within each state, outline the congressional districts.
Then do the same for 2010.
Take the states where lots of seats went red and add up their electoral college
votes.
Then take the states where few if any seats went red and total up their electoral college votes.
You will find that the still-blue states have the larger number of electors.
Obama was in the lead since day one and nobody realized it.
Any good news? Obama and his whole party/legislative/executive order
agenda is wide open for monkey wrenching. Just need somebody that knows how.
Yep, time to recharge for a while.
Do you honestly think that Obama cares about the majority of white non-union people?
Please discount the myths that women and young people voted overwhelmingly for Obama. The exit poll internals showed the following:
White Women voted 56 to 42 for Romney.
Whites ages 18-29 favored Romney 53.5% to 45.4%.
White Catholics favored Romney 59% to 40%
White Protestants 69% to 30%.
This election was a coalition of minorities, government employees, union members, and recipients of government assistance voting for Obama. Also many white women and young people were convinced that their peers were voting for Obama when in fact they weren’t.
Ann Althouse is pissing her pants and blowing steam out of her ears at the sight of that picture above. I am sure she will be dropping by any moment now to comment, “That is simply way too much white man thigh on display!”
The rest of us have to live with Obama for the next 4 years. You guys get to go on fabulous cruises and talk about it.
Tell me again, just who in this story is the beast of burden?
Also, tell us how many successful Conservative campaigns Geraghty has run in his career and whom has he got elected.
I had to turn it off.
Geharty is a committed, card-carrying member of the losing-in-their-blood republican ruling class.
Nothing to worry about this time. 2016 will be here in no time, and we just need a guy next time that demontrates how much he respects the losers who voted for the marxist.
If I could be shocked, I would says that he shockingly seems to believe that the election was a balanced assessment by rational observors voting in a fair and controlled environment. Our guy’s message was just a tiny bit off, but the other guy isn’t anyone to worry about.
Like I’ve said many times, he and his type are just thrilled to be on the losing team. Fortunatly, he will make his money no matter what.
