Why not? CNN has already baked birthday cakes for the president; they might as well send him a greeting card with a few dollars for FAO Schwarz in it as well.

As spotted by Noel Sheppard of Newsbusters, who notes that the link in CNN reporter Peter Hamby’s tweet “goes to a donation page to join Obama at a fundraiser in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on Saturday, September 22.” At Hot Air, Howard Portnoy adds:

It remains a point of fascination that the Democratic Party claims the high ground on the issue of fairness while conveniently overlooking the reality act that the mainstream media have their backs.

I was about to declare that the entire Time-Warner-CNN-HBO apparatus exists to funnel money and publicity to Mr. Obama, but that was before the news broke that one of their most prominent spokesmen produced an anti-Islamic movie. Unlike the hapless Nakoula Besseley Nakoula though, he paid his protection money to the Obama machine upfront.
