That was then

Stephen Jukes, global news editor for Reuters, the British wire service, has ordered his scribes not to use the word terror to refer to the Sept. 11 atrocity, the Washington Post’s Howard Kurtz reports (second item). “We all know that one man’s terrorist is another man’s freedom fighter and that Reuters upholds the principle that we do not use the word terrorist,” Jukes writes in an internal memo. “To be frank, it adds little to call the attack on the World Trade Center a terrorist attack.”

This is now: “Reuters Labels Norway Terror Suspect as ‘Right-Wing’ 25 Times.”

This guy is a lunatic like Cho, Sodini, Loughner, with no discernible ideology. He according to the LAT has copied and pasted the Unabomber’s Manifesto into his own. Copying Ted Kaczynski is the definition of insane. According to his Facebook page, he’s a fan of Tru Blood, the Shield, Dexter, Caprica, and Stargate Universe. Also of George Orwell and Franz Kafka. Funny I missed that part in the Trial (one the guy’s favorite books) where the protagonist … goes off and kills about a hundred helpless kids on an island.

There’s no sense to crazy, other than deranged personal grievances that society either picks up (and locks away, quick) or at least channels into the usual targets (political leaders, celebrities). This guy makes about as much sense as Lee Harvey Oswald killing Alexander Gromyko, or John Wilkes Booth assassinating Robert E. Lee. Because he’s crazy, and crazy doesn’t make sense.

Like Loughner, the media will attempt to smear conservatives with this one. I recall assertions that (Jewish) Loughner was a neo-nazi, a follower of Rush Limbaugh (his parents were local AZ Dem bigwigs), and all the rest. Loughner was and is a literally giggling lunatic, who everyone knew was crazy but did nothing to lock up. Same with this lunatic. Crazy never makes sense.

In case anyone’s not convinced yet, the MSM provides yet one more reason why it’s a waste of time to bother with them.

A Palestinian militant kills an Israeli family and a right wing terrorist slaughters the children of Norwegian socialists.
Thats Reuter’s for you. Its not the act that defines terrorism but the actors so sayeth Reuters.

I’ve heard other people complaining that Anders is now being referred to as the “shooter”, “gunman”, “killer” etc rather than “terrorist”.
