According to the group’s website, the Statue of Liberty “elevates the command of man over the command of God” and public veneration of the statue amounts to idol worship strictly prohibited by Islam. “This has forced sincere Muslims to develop realistic plans that will aid in the removal of the Statue of Liberty.
“Due to the scale of the task at hand, it is highly likely that rigorous safety checks will need to be employed before the demolition of the Statue of Liberty can commence; thus as a temporary measure, it is proposed that a large burkha is used to cover the statue, thereby shielding this horrendous eye sore from public view as well as sending a strong message to its French creators,” the site reads.

Reality? Satire? Who can tell these days, where it’s only a matter of time before real life outpaces even the most skilled satirist. (Trust me — it’s the law.) But to the extent that we set the (wrecking) ball rolling, I’d like to formally apologize for my role. It’s not so much thoughtcrime as Photoshop crime, but what the heck; I hear the rates for an extended stay at the Ministry of Love are quite reasonable this time of year. And the meals are now halal!
Update: Canadian blogger Kate McMillan of the great Small Dead Animals blog comments below that the Shariah4America Website is, not surprisingly, likely satire.

‘Grady’ is revealed as a bona fide troll, with marching orders (and probably lucre) from some leftist committee somewhere to push the latest progressive meme, specifically that of age, as in aging, elderly, therefore out-of-touch, not with it, destined to die off and take their antiquated values with them, etc., etc., ad infinitum, ad nauseum.
I’ve only recently noticed examples of this tactic, which is not to say that it hasn’t been sporadically used before, but only that it is just now becoming a coordinated effort.
Readers’ beware… I recommend calling out the trolls on these tactics every time they make the attempt, but in no way answer their charges directly. It is no use arguing with the left. They have no fixed principles except one: in pursuit of absolute equality, the ends justify the means.

Grady, the problem is that too many people do NOT know what Sharia is and the real threat of radical Islam. It is not in some distant continent anymore. It is on our very shores. Hey, I think it’s pretty surprising that God made it into that line at all, let alone as the first deity cited. Remember, the progressives think all other cultures are at least as good as ours while ours has a great deal to apologize for, effectively making our culture inferior to all the others. Therefore, it wouldn’t be inconsistent for them to drop our deities from consideration altogether as being unworthy….

If Charles Stevens or anyone else wants to turn the tables on liberals, a site called Helen and Margaret’s blog is good practice. It is an un- moderated free for all mainly composed of numerous liberals, progressives, and ideologues. Many identified me as a “bona fide troll”, and a few refused to post because I was defiling their message board. Some of them are smart and it pays to know your facts and to be polite.
Several of us worked together to change the tone a bit after a group symbolically voted me off the site. I don’t visit there now, so I don’t know what they are doing. It was fun though.
I read an item years ago, that some columnist had remarked, satirically, in the pre civil rights ear of the South, that white men didn’t mind standing next to black men, it was sitting down that was the problem. He then noted that later, when a certain library was integrated, the library took all the chairs out.
Under sharia, they won’t put a burkha on the Statue of Liberty, they’ll tear her down.
I think its probably satire too. But then look what the Taliban did to those World Heritage Buddhas.

First there is and never was a separation of state and religion. You can look for it all day, our founders never said it. The only thing our forefathers wanted was us all to have religious freedom Our Constitution, Federalist Papers and the Bill of Rights had there foundation on the belief in GOD and religious freedom for everyone. That is why sharia law is not compatible with the American way of life. Islam is not a religion but a totalitarian form of government that infringes on our personal freedoms. You can dress an inman up any way you choose but a liar is a liar in any clothing!
Just as a note, Ed, there is no punishment in Islam for pedophilia. That is a practice in which Mohammed himself regularly indulged with virtually anything which had a warm body and a hole of sufficient size. The pictured punishment for pedophiles is closer to one of the prescribed dispositions for homosexuals.
