I’m Prepared to Grade on a Curve

September 15, 2010 - 12:29 pm - by Ed Driscoll

As Mary Katharine Ham quips, all bets are off on the midterms! “Hold Your Predictions, Pundits: Democrats Have a New Logo!”

Well, well, well, Charlie Cook. Maybe you’d like to retract some of your earlier projections for a Republican tidal wave? Because Democrats are about to design their way to victory!

The Democratic National Committee has revamped both its logo and website in hopes of taking on a sleeker, less bureaucratic perception among voters.

The re-design went live on Wednesday morning with an accompanying tag line: “Democrats: Change That Matters.” In place of the former logo — DNC in block letters filled with an American flag — the committee opted for a capital D engulfed by a blue-band circle.

Kaine had touted a “major” announcement about the “future of the party” today, and this is it. Democrats have now taken Obama’s car metaphor to its most literal possible conclusion:

But while I appreciate the Democrats willing to grade themselves so harshly on their handling of the economy, in these days of rampant grade inflation in America’s Ruling Class institutions, I’m personally willing to generously grade on a curve. Let’s give them a solid…

Update: Dewey’s Pizza wants their logo back, dammit! And so does this Western goods store!

Yeah, ‘cuz a new logo (that incorporates a reference to Barack Obama!) is just gonna fix everything.

Did they get Sheppard Fairey in on this? Will there be a dance troupe, or a hand salute?

Hmmmm … OD’d on the One? Well, maybe.

So the Democrats took the American flag out of their logo…what took them so long to admit it?

D+? They did absolutely nothing to help the real economy – they did plenty for cronies (hence porkulus, bailouts, etc).

It should be a zero surrounded by a circle.

  6. Spode’s Black Shorts will assemble under their new logo. Their motto “As stylish as Michelle Obama, or else.” Can vary with “As modest as Nancy Pelosi” or “As innocent as Barney Frank” or “As fresh as Charlie Rangel” or “As smart as Barbara Boxer” or “As honest as Cold Cash Jefferson” or “As stable as Rahm Emanuel” or “As tolerant as Robert Byrd” or “As attractive as Michael Moore” or “As loyal as Medea Benjamin, or else.”

The new Democrat logo? Looks like a big fat bulls-eye to me. I might blow it up and use it for my next round of target shooting.

It is a truism in the airline biz that when your advertising agency is totally out of ideas, they suggest a new paint scheme for the airplanes. I guess that applies in politics, too.

The very first thing I thought of when I saw that ridiculous logo was this logo.

In my mind they mean the same thing.
