Hot on the heels of a teabagging President Obama, Ryan McCarthy of the Huffington Post has further quotes from the new book that seeks to capture all the nuanced civility of the modern Democratic Party:
The leaked portions of Newsweek scribe Jonathan Alter’s “The Promise,” which details President Obama’s first year in office and is due out in May 18, continue to surface. And Alter’s got more profanity-laced details of tense backroom meetings.
At the Washington Independent Aaron Weiner highlights another F-bomb festival, this time from a September 2008 meeting that included House Financial Services Chairman Barney Frank (D – Mass.), Obama, John McCain, Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson and President Bush.
Frank was apparently incensed at Paulson’s attempt to stop Democrats from criticizing the huge plan to bailout the financial sector — in fact, it was Republicans who balked, Weiner observes. Here’s Frank’s blowup at Paulson:
Barney Frank muscled his way past Harry Reid and started yelling. “F– you, Hank! F– you! Blow up this deal? We didn’t blow up this deal! Your guys blew up the deal! You better tell [GOP Rep. Spencer] Bacchus and the rest of them to get their s– together!”
Earlier leaks of the book have included some embarrassing portrayals of White House adviser Rahm Emanuel. New York magazine had some choice bits about Rahm’s anger at Bo, the Obama’s family dog (“I’m going to kill that f***ing dog,” and his yelling to a male staffer: “Take your f***ing tampon out and tell me what you have to say.”
That Fake Macho Complex that’s an endemic compensatory mechanism of the Nanny Party make Rahm and Barney sound almost as angry and bitter as Alter himself under stress.
Earlier: “Interior Secretary Ken Salazar who said administration officials would keep their ‘boot on the throat’ of [British Petroleum] to make sure the company does all it can and more to address the problems caused by its uncontrolled ocean gusher.”

Add this to his use of the word “retard” et al, and a picture begins to emerge of a patriarchal elitist who obviously doesn’t believe in all this post-modern relativism bs that pervades the policies he advances.
Hiscross, in a professional workplace or a government workplace or in most other workplaces, Emanuel’s behavior toward and around subordinates as reported would be construed as his creating a hostile work environment.
The only “shit” that should happen is that Emanuel be immediately and properly disciplined for his disturbing behavior by his manager including therapy for using excessive anger in the workplace, employing sexism to direct a subordinate and whatever else may be necessary, up to and including termination, to correct the obvious dysfunction he creates in the workplace.

I was a juvenile curser, and I learned it from my dad. AFter becoming an adult and seeing the looks on people’s faces, I came to understand how badly it reflected on me. By 27, I had given it up. As they say, if you need them to emphasize what you’re saying, then you’re either an unskilled speaker with doubts about your ability to persuade, or you have a genuine desire to influence others through ferocity and anger. There is no room for those words in civil, gracious casual conversation, and certainly not in important business.
Barney Frank, of course, is simply not civil. He is a furiously angry man, fulminating privately whenever he is not doing so publicly. HE has a chip on his shoulder the size of Rhode Island, and it won’t come off in this life. Ditto, I think, for the secretly gay Rahm. Some years ago, in the engine room of a freighter, I bearhugged a co-worker to stop him from committing assault with intent to murder. For all we know he was friendly with the staffer and joking with the dog. Curse words are all about context and there is no F&*King context in this article.
A lot of people seem to be purposefully missing the point. These guys are abusing those who can’t fight back. You think the staffer Emmanuel abused could clock him a good one? Sure but he would be in jail, he would have other staffers testify against him who weren’t even in town and he would be having the IRS auditing him, his family and friends. Homeland Security would put him on their watch list and the NO Fly list.
