Great Moments In Leftwing Hypocrisy

January 5, 2010 - 10:13 pm - by Ed Driscoll

As Victor Davis Hanson wrote last fall:

[I]n the Bush wilderness years, the Left assumed permanent political marginalization, adopted an ends-justify-the-means strategy of street rhetoric against Bush, then found themselves unexpectedly as the establishment, and now are appalled that anyone might emulate their own past emotional outbursts.

Deceiver.com spots example number 1,632,439 from Senator Claire McCaskill (D-MO):

U.S. Senator Claire McCaskill (D-MO), yesterday on CNN:

“Unlike a myopic focus on Iraq, this administration is going worldwide in this war and is focused on it. And I think it is unfair and, frankly, political to take pot shots at the president as we respond to this failure in our systems that we’ve got to get fixed.”

Aaaaand McCaskill a few years ago (Sept. 6, 2006), when the Oval Office was occupied by someone else:

George Bush let people die on rooftops in New Orleans because they were poor and because they were black.”

H/T: Gateway Pundit, who also documents how McCaskill’s 2006 slam was baseless.

And of course, that’s on top of these classic House and Senate flip-flops from the mid-naughts.

Heck, you don’t have to go back to 2006 to find a contradiction; just go back one sentence to the political potshot: “Unlike a myopic focus on Iraq…”
