Don Surber writes, “If anyone wants to know why Obamacare is sinking, they need only to read the Ezra Klein interview with Democratic Sen. Jay Rockefeller”:
In fact, skip to the last question:
Klein: How will you pay for all this?
Rockefeller: We’re not sure exactly. We spent the first hour talking only about affordability. But we had to talk about some other things, too. How we’re going to pay for this, I can’t yet answer you. That’s the amendment process. That’s the next few weeks.
The bottom line is the bottom line. Americans know they will pay for this “free” health care somehow. Their objections are not racist or ignorance or ingratitude or even partisan.
People want to know: How are you going to pay for all of this?
Jay: I dunno.
That answer is unacceptable from a child, let alone a senator in his fifth term.
It’s obvious that this Rockefeller lacks his great-grandfather’s acumen for creating wealth via the corporate world. As P.J. O’Rourke once said, “The founding fathers, in their wisdom, devised a method by which our republic can take one hundred of its most prominent numbskulls and keep them out of the private sector where they might do actual harm.” Though our current group of Senators are capable of rapaciousness of an astounding nature, particularly if left to their own devices.
