Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Majority Leader Steny Hoyer have single-handedly returned us to, as the opening to the Lone Ranger used go, “to the days of yesteryear” by saying in an op-ed piece in USA Today that: “These disruptions are occurring because opponents are afraid not just of differing views – but of the facts themselves. Drowning out opposing views is simply un-American. Drowning out the facts is how we failed at this task for decades.”
Joe McCarthy would have been so proud of them.
As Janet Napolitano — at least when she “writes” at the satiric Iowahawk site would say, if you yourself are part of the “shadowy forces of International Constitutionalism…a nefarious Red State saboteur”, read the whole thing.
Related: Speaking of everything old being new again, check out this AP article, titled, “Officials see rise in militia groups across US.” It’s little more than a press release from Stacy McCain’s bete noir, the Southern Poverty Law Center, complete with helpful URL back to its originators. And not surprisingly, it reads like something that could have been dusted off from the first years of President Clinton’s administration — right around the time he and Hillary were flailing about with their own efforts to ram the jagged little poisoned pill of socialized medicine down Americans’ throats.
I’m sure the timing, and the similarities are purely coincidental, of course.

Congress Exempt From Health Care Reform?
Starting on pg 113, line 22 of SENATE version of the Health Care Reform Bill (http://help.senate.gov/BAI09A84_xml.pdf) … The term ‘qualified individual’ means an individual who is NOT eligible for coverage under the Federal employees health benefits program under chapter 89 of title 5, United States Code. The way I read this convoluted legislation, is that Congress & Federal Employees will be exempted from health care reform. Congress gets something different from what the rest of America gets.
This doesn’t seem fair. Just sayin.
P.S. Wish those critiquing health care reform would quote chapter & verse from the bill. Otherwise, we risk RIDICULOUS CLAIMS being fed into the hopper, these will be debunked, and used against those undercutting the ridicule this legislation and its legislators deserve.
Even as he tries not to make the same mistakes as Bill Clinton, Obama manages to be little more than a Clinton retread with a nice tan.
