Let me guess. The setting is supposed to be the Lorraine Motel in Memphis???
This is truly revolting.
Charming.
I’ve been saying this for a while-if and when St. Barry’s approval numbers started to slip, the media would trot out the old racism canard to defend their annointed one.
This is the start of that media push. Now that the bloom is off the rose, Obama’s fault won’t be his, but ours: ‘If only the American people weren’t such monumental bigots, maybe they’d see how great our President is.’ If Obama keeps sliding past 40-som ething approval ratings, the media is say it’s GOP/American racism that’s hurting the POTUS.
KingShamus – I agree. I think things will play out exactly as you describe. The media will roll out a series of anecdotal nonsense stories to “prove” that America is becoming more racist out of the panic created by the “Bush Depression.”
They’ll follow that campaign up with stern, sober analyses of the spread of the racist mob instinct from the turbid recesses of hillbilly flyover country to even – alarmingly – the dumb, plebeian suburbs. And the only way the knuckle-dragging masses will be able to redeem themselves is by voting once again for hopey-changey Democrats at every opportunity.
They will, of course, congratulate all the smarties in NYC, LA, SF, Ann Arbor, Cambridge, etc., for being “intelligently and perceptively concerned” with the tough issues that Generalissimo Obama inherited and note further that those areas remain fully, completely on board with everything the good Generalissimo says.
“…the media would trot out the old racism canard to defend their annointed one.”
Too late for that. The race card is quickly losing its sting. A sort of inoculation has taken place. Barack Obama’s recent foolish comments regarding Professor Gates’s arrest may have been the last straw. He is now a marginalized president. The situation probably cannot be reversed.
Jeremiah Wright, Sonia Sotomayor, and Henry Gates have provided the public with quite an education in the current reality of race relations in America. How long can liberals cling to their fantasy that only whites can be racist?
