In Woody Allen’s futuristic Sleeper, one of his earlier, funnier movies, there’s a classic scene in which a befuddled historian several centuries from now plays a videotape of Richard Nixon and asks Woody, newly defrosted from 1972:
“Some of us have a theory that he might once have been a president of the United States, but that he did something horrendous, so that all records, everything was wiped out about him. There is nothing in history books. There are no pictures on stamps or money.”
But there’s no way that will ever happen, as Don Surber notes; even in the 21st century, the legacy media is still too obsessed with the 37th president. Including this classic “one of these things is not like the other” moment, where the Associated Press documents recent political sex scandals, but substitutes Nixon’s ancient “You won’t have Nixon to kick around any more” press conference from nearly 50 years ago for…wait, what’s his name?
Some of us have a theory that he might once have been a president of the United States…

the de jeure horrendous thing he did as of this half hour was to send Israel supplies during the 1973 war.
But the tapes speak of virulent, anti nonIsraeli-Jew-i-cism, or something, on his part, just to cover his tracks I suspect with the internationalist wahhab conspiracy, that takes the form of an international jewish persons conspiracy, to add another layer to the, uh, onion of deception, that fall petals from flowers all over the ground
Great movie.
