It took John Kennedy more than a year to precipitate a military standoff with the Soviet Union over Cuba in the 1962 missile crisis. It’s taken the Obama Amateur Hour less than two months.

    Well of course they are. The Carter Obama administration has shown that they’ll remove the missiles if the Russkies will play nice. The immediate consequences of that is that the Russkies will now trade bases in South America for a free hand to regain the Ukraine and Georgia and who knows what of their old empire. They know a weak idiot when they see one.

    Putin is floundering as his oligarchy-pals go under and the Russkie economy sours like that cream on top of borscht. So when Obama offers a linkage package ala Jimmy Earl Carter, they sense weakness and take the slender young man’s offer to trade missiles for a whole bunch of things [except of course to alter their relationship with handy-dandy ally Iran].

    Obama wanted to play patty-cake and now finds himself getting punched with a mailed fist!
