[Watch] Miley Cyrus Remakes 'Santa Baby' for Woke Age

“Baby, It’s Cold Outside” isn’t the only Christmas favorite that’s “problematic,” apparently.

“Santa Baby” rubbed professional shock queen Miley Cyrus the wrong way, too. The singer appeared on “The Tonight Show” with Jimmy Fallon this week to sing the Yuletide favorite. The song doesn’t depict intense, old-school flirting like “Baby” does, a tone that drew the ire of the social justice crowd.

Happily, the Woke Police failed to jail this “Baby.” A handful of stations yanked the song from their playlists, fearing hard-leftists might storm the audio barricades. They quickly retreated after a significant backlash. Even a radio station in San Francisco, of all places, pulled the song from its rotation and quickly put it back in.

The original “Santa Baby” dates back to 1953. The incomparable Eartha Kitt cooed out the song, although it’s been covered endlessly since then, even by Cyrus’s unofficial role model, Madonna.

Will Cyrus’s “Santa Baby” become the new standard, or is it another example of Woke Gone Wild?

Cyrus yukked it up briefly with Fallon before performing “Santa Baby.” She told him she wanted to tinker with the lyrics to make it more up to date. Naturally, he agreed.

Her version dropped classic lines like this:

Santa baby, slip a sable under the tree for me
Been an awful good girl
Santa baby, and hurry down the chimney tonight

Santa baby, a ’54 convertible too convertible too, light blue
I’ll wait up for you, dear
Santa baby, so hurry down the chimney tonight

Sure, they’re a bit musty. But the song has also been a part of Christmas season for decades. And not every morsel of our season’s greetings must perfectly align with the modern world.

Tell that to Cyrus.

Her rendition of “Santa Baby” went something like this:

“Santa, baby/ I don’t need any fancy jewelry, not me/I’ve got something else in mind Santa baby,/And I don’t need your presents tonight.”

What? No “she persisted” shout out? Where’s the Hillary Wuz Robbed reference?

To be fair, Cyrus did trot out the fake news canard about “equal pay.”

A charitable take on the tune is that it’s all in good fun. Maybe.

Taken on its own terms, the reboot is harmless. It’s hard not to put it in context. It’s another example of Leftists eager to wipe out beloved rituals, large or small, replacing them with art that seeks to indoctrinate, not entertain.

We’ve seen far too much of this these days. Thanks to the former Hannah Montana, we now have even more of it.
