Tennessee Gov Signs Landmark Bill Against De-Banking—Other States Should Follow

The governor of Tennessee just signed a first-of-its-kind bill against de-banking on the basis of political or religious beliefs. Considering the Biden administration’s increasingly biased justice system and plans for instituting a centralized digital currency in the near future, such protections are particularly important.

One thing has become painfully clear under the Biden administration: Democrats are fully committed to censorship (including financial censorship) and political weaponization of government. De-banking might affect only certain prominent individuals now, but don’t be surprised if it affects far more people in the near future, especially in light of Biden's plans to implement a digital currency under the control of the government. The same federal and state officials who worked to trample your First Amendment and Second Amendment rights to free speech and gun ownership would be happy to target you financially as well.

Tennessee’s new law is backed by Gov. Bill Lee and his fellow Republicans state Senate Majority Leader Jack Johnson and state Rep. Jason Zachary. Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) Senior Counsel Matt Sharp celebrated the legislation as “a win for everyone. No one should be denied access to basic financial services because of their political or religious beliefs. Banks that are too big to fail are too big for bias.” Zachary agreed, “Every Tennessean should feel secure in expressing their religious and political views without fear of their financial services being denied or canceled by their bank for non-financial factors.”

Former Trump attorney John Eastman was recently de-banked. Other individuals who have reportedly been de-banked or financially censored include Mike Lindell, Gen. Mike Flynn, Jihad Watch (PJ Media's Robert Spencer), the National Committee for Religious Freedom, Alliance Defending Freedom, and the Canadian anti-lockdown truckers. Notice that they’re Trump supporters and/or right-leaning; that is, the discrimination is biased against conservatives.

We know now that the FBI has specifically targeted MAGA supporters as supposed “extremists” ahead of the 2024 election. Do you really think the FBI will draw the line with surveillance and tracking? The Jan. 6 prisoners have been abused and mistreated in jail, some without trial, let alone conviction. That could happen to anyone arrested by the Biden administration.

Experts Can Be Wrong. Hence, They Shouldn’t Be Censors.

Certainly, financial censorship is a real possibility. Remember, the Biden administration built up a vast Censorship-Industrial Complex. It also happens to be one of the governments that signed onto a 2023 G20 plan which, to quote The Epoch Times, will “eventually impose digital currencies and digital IDs on their respective populations, amid concern that governments might use them to monitor their people's spending and crush dissent.” Back in 2022, Biden had already approved a G20 plan that proposed Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDCs). That’s on top of separate executive actions the Biden administration has taken aimed at establishing a digital currency.

If you want to know how this could play out in the future, look at China under the rule of the dictatorial Chinese Communist Party (CCP). The CCP-controlled digital currency and the digital IDs for citizens are linked. Any publicly expressed views online or in person can cause your QR code to turn red, at which point you can no longer buy anything or go anywhere. That’s the nightmare the Biden administration wants to bring home to America.

More states should follow Tennessee’s example to prevent biased de-banking before it’s too late.
