Obama on His Own Middle East Record: Zero Percent Success
“You’re not listening to what the people who are fighting you say about this fight. In your arrogance, you think you write the script.”
– Lara Logan, CBS News, on Obama’s Middle East policy.
A few days before taking office, on January 15, 2009, Barack Obama gave an interview to CBS News and explained his Middle East policy:
“We’re gonna have to take a regional approach. We’re gonna have to involve Syria in discussions. We’re gonna have to engage Iran in ways that we have not before. We’ve gotta have a clear bottom line that Israel’s security is paramount. But that also we have to create a two-state solution where people can live side by side in peace.”
The pro-Syria policy, despite that regime’s repressive and anti-American nature, failed. The Obama administration’s proposed solution now is to replace that regime with one that’s likely to be a revolutionary Islamist anti-American regime.
The pro-Iran policy failed. The Obama administration’s proposed solution now is to have tough sanctions — which is good — but then to insist that this will solve the problem and not to deal with the inevitable outcome of Iran getting nuclear weapons, not to mention Tehran’s continuing subversion and backing for terrorism. The Obama administration is eager to make a deal with Tehran, and if the Iranian leaders were only a bit more flexible they could probably get a diplomatic arrangements with that U.S. government that would give them much of what they want. As so often has happened in the Middle East, it is only the radicals’ intransigence which prevents them from gaining appeasement from the West.
The “peace process” policy failed. And this administration has done more to undermine Israel’s security than all the previous presidencies put together. The problems include pushing Israel to ease the pressure on Hamas in the Gaza Strip; helping a genocide-oriented anti-Israel government into power in Egypt (same thing in Syria); making America’s leading ally in the region a Turkish regime that is viciously anti-Israel; and more.

Jimmy Carter at least got a peace treaty between Israel and Egypt. The Whine lost Egypt.
Worse than Carter.
Yep. Since Obama came into office, the gas line from Egypt to Israel has been bombed 14 times. Israel’s embassy in Cairo has been attacked. Egypt has begun to remilitarize the Sinai. And Egyptian leaders have talked about modifying – if not renouncing – that peace treaty.
That means, rather than a more peaceful border, Israel now has to worry about another front and the prospects of a SIXTH military confrontation with Egypt. Israel will win that one too, but victory will come at a heavy price, especially as Egypt has been so well armed and trained – by the US!
Prof. Rubin: You wrote: “An American reader writes me, “I’ve tried explaining the situation in the Middle East to friends and there are blank stares. I believe what they’re thinking is that how come, if it is so bad, I haven’t seen in the newspapers or on the national news? The New York Times doesn’t mention it at all.” ” Of course, the NYT does not mention it. What do you expect from the Ministry of Propaganda and Lies.
Reading today’s NYT you would hardly know there was a hearing on the Benghazi cockup scheduled. Sins of omission are MSM’s stock in trade.
Back when I used to read such trash, the Boston Globe included the following epigraph in their masthead: “Give the people light and they will find their own way.” The object of MSM is to keep us in the dark.
Sometime next week, loyal, liberal NYT readers will learn that the Benghazi raid was not a copy-cat demonstration mirroring events in Cairo. Next Tuesday or Wednesday, NYT readers will learn that the streets around the embassy were quiet, there were no demonstrators and the first sign of anything amiss were security CCTV images of armed terrorists coming over the wall. By Friday they will know that there are questions being raised in Congress regarding security lapses at our embassy.
Like Obama, the NYT leads from behind.
BTW: The best part of today’s hearings was seeing the State Department in the dock. State hasn’t been publicly called out since Senator Joe Mccarthy was waving around lists of Communists at Foggy Bottom.
Tail Gunner Joe was fast and loose in his method but he wasn’t far wrong. “The Taliban is inside the building,” whistleblower Nordstrom testifies he told a friend named Jim referring to those in the State Department denying the embassy in Benghazi proper security.
Indeed. The Taliban is inside the Foggy Bottom and the White House as well. Has been for some time. The coming election will clear the enemies of America out the the White House. After that must come a thorough housecleaning at the State Department. The America-hating, Zion-hating old boy network at State must go.
Barry understands, more than most, that the Middle East is imploding, and that the Islamist-in-Chief is its main pyromaniac. Of course, he is more circumspect about its origins.
It is hardly happenstance that everything Barack HUSSEIN Obama touches turns to flames, particularly signaled through his ‘outreach’ in Cairo; his blindness (in 2009) in Iran; his jaw jaw with Iran’s Hitlerite regime; and his dictates to Mubarak – GO NOW.
The only question is:what’s his end game? Here’s some food for thought – http://adinakutnicki.com/2012/08/13/coming-full-circle-the-planned-empowerment-of-the-muslim-mafia-aka-brotherhood-via-egypt-most-populous-arab-country-under-the-guidance-of-barack-hussein-obama-commentary-by-adina-kutnicki/
There is no way around the above conclusions. NONE of the chaos in the Middle East is accidental. It is done by design, and with the Obama regime’s sticky fingerprints all over the region.
BTW – Hill & Huma are deeply in bed with said mischief!!
Obama and his apologists keep insisting that he is not a Muslim, but again and again I find myself asking the same question. “If Obama were a Muslim what would he be doing differently than he is doing now?” Invariably the answer is “nothing”.

Menachem, and here is another – http://adinakutnicki.com/2012/10/10/mystery-solved-is-the-potus-an-islamic-devotee-his-wedding-ring-tells-the-tale-commentary-by-adina-kutnicki/
I have seen this article. The Obamaphiles will insist the ring is only a reminder of his childhood days in Indonesia.
Nothing to see here.
One of Obama’s traits that receives little attention is his propensity for “clever lying”. We all know he’s a liar, that much is proven. But he’s also of the ilk where he thinks he’s hoodwinking people and those in his camp “get” the subtlety of his “clever” dalliances with fiction vs. truth.
I worked with a dozen people like that in the military. One in particular had a significantly below average IQ but thought he could BS his way through anything with clever words and sentences. All that really did was make him look like an even bigger boob.
And such is the case with the lightworker. He thinks his contrivances are so bloody clever that he, himself considers himself a genius. “Oh, they’ll never get that”, he thinks. When, in fact, any thinking human-being, especially the ones who don’t particularly care for him, do get it and know exactly what it means.
And, probably, like everything else, he doesn’t put that much effort into thinking these lies up. They just have to be “plausible enough” to allow him to get through the day where he goes to bed thinking, “Heh, I really snowed ‘em today. They have no idea what I’m up to.” This, of course fits into his ulterior motives of showing the sand-people how much he is in love with his dad and is trying his best, not to show a new path to peace between the West and the sand-people, but to make a nest for protection when the wars come.
In other words, he’s planning for his own future. A nice home inside Cairo would be nice if Hawaii doesn’t work out or if he can’t seem to get along with the neighbors, etc.
The lying on all levels is also part of his mental makeup. One of the most common complaints I hear from people who travel abroad is how the natives of whatever land is visited in the deserts are so comfortable with lying to them. Not so much in Europe (except Spain) or Israel but in all muslim naitons, they lie, they lie and they lie. Not just to Westerners but to each other. Those who have spent the time to learn the languages have found they are masters at lying. Not necessarily deception, but at lying.
It’s part of his muslim heritage he has truly embraced and to him, it no doubt signals that he’s on the side of the mullahs for future resume’ material.
No. The majority don’t ready the NYT. The majority don’t even consider it credible. Paying tribute to the NYT is a sure indication of a die-hard leftist. Don’t be fooled by friends who live in deep blue states.
Sorta like “I don’t know anybody who voted for Nixon”. Twas always thus. And NYT wasn’t losing readers precipitously back in Nixon’s day.
Yes, most Americans dont read the Times or any liberal paper. And remember Fox news – which is biased in the other direction. Those of us who want a variety of views so we can at least get an idea of what is going on and not
have our biases reinforced need to surf around the Internet a bit and read
news and comment from a variety of perspectives.
Who is John Galt?
Just started reading Atlas Shrugged and from the first chapter I saw exactly what is happening now in a book written in the 1940s. I can see why the lefties always put it down as nonsense, it is so true.
You are in for a surprise then. That book describes the modern liberal so well it’s uncanny.
Not sure there is an American consensus on how to approach the ME. I am sure that is the biggest part of the problem.
The USA evolved into it’s current politics toward the Islamic Crescent. Without writing a paper on the topic, during WW2 FDR promised freedom ( human rights, self determination, etc.) to the Arabs. As colonies, the Arabs embraced those promises.
FDR died (thank God) and Truman took over. American allies France and England were not happy about losing their colonies. They were less happy about the Germans kickin’ their behinds, so they put up with FDR’s insistence on them losing their colonies.
With FDR gone and Truman being the weak person he was, colonial ambitions once more came to the fore.
At the same time, Truman’s cowardice in the face of Stalin’s refusal to give up eastern Europe created a need to build containment around the Soviets. That created NATO and the cold war. The Arabs won their wars for independence from the colonizing nations. The results were mostly despotism. The Soviets saw the opportunity there and moved to cut off the OIL to the west by creating client states out of the various despotic regimes. That forced the USA into the unnatural position of supporting tyrants to fight the Soviets indirectly and maintain containment. The key event here was Ike threatening to ask congress to declare war on England and France if they didn’t stop their invasion of Egypt ( the Suez Canal affair). Ike was really pissed. He saw the English, French, Israeli attempt to capture the Suez canal as an attempt to throw his re-election chances under the bus.
The self styled elites running America during the early days of the cold war came of age during world war 2. They were serious control freaks and much more bigoted then the self styled elites of today. That is why they had the CIA destabilize the proto democracies formed post WW2 and replace them with more trustworthy dictators.
Nationalism was promoted as a way of helping the despots maintain control.
Eventually the strategy worked. The Soviet Union collapsed because it ran out of OPM (other peoples money). Once the Soviet Union collapsed the USA was left with no strategy. Not only in the Islamic Crescent but everywhere.
Nation states and the entire western system of government was founded on Feudalism. Feudalism was replaced by representative governments over the course of centuries. For over a thousand years Europe was under attack from many different barbarians. Feudalism allowed them to build a military system strong enough to defeat them all.
Islam had a different form of Feudalism. Instead of a lord and his manor, with lands worked by serfs that supported the lord and his knights, Islam had mosques.
More then just a church, the mosque is also the courthouse, the armory, a marketplace and a social center. So Islamic civilization and Western Civilization are starting from two divergent sources.
The West enshrined the nation state in the peace of Westphalia. Islam has no such concept. The attempt at creating nationalism hasn’t quite worked out. All it has done is confuse the Muslims and create chaos. Islam wants a Caliph. One man, presumably on a white horse, to lead them. That might not be a bad thangie from the Western POV. Having a Caliph will not change the balance of power between Islam and the west, no matter what color his horse is. However a Caliph would allow Islam to present a united face to the West and give the West someone to negotiate with.
That is important because Islam cannot change their ‘House of Islam, House of War” approach to the world. Without that or a peace treaty that eliminates terrorism, my grandchildren will exterminate Islam. We have the tools now, we just lack the will. My grandchildren and their generation will have grown up waiting for the suicide bomber to strike. At some point they could decide Genocide is just a word and solve the Islamic problem once and for all.
Final solutions are seldom solutions and never final.
So we need a plan. One the west can get behind and work to a conclusion. It doesn’t have to be perfect, it just has to have a chance of working.
PBUH- Place Bomb Under Hood?
Actually, to a great extent, the ruling clique’ up to about 1960 or so was still the prewar FDR New Deal contingent. It wasn’t until Ike’s second term and JFK that the WW2 generation came to the fore, Robert S. McNamara being a typical example (USAAF officer in WW2, one-time president of Ford, JFK’s SecDef), and JFK and LBJ both falling into the same category.
As for modern enlightened elites’ being more open-minded, go to Democratic Underground, HuffPo, or any university PoliSci website and say something nice about the United States or Israel. Then duck.
And as to them not being control freaks- if that were true, how do you explain all of The One’s “tsars”?
The present-day lot is about as ecumenical, open-minded, and disestablishmentarian as Orville Faubus. They just aim their bigotry and dreams of absolute power at different targets- that the news media elite’ don’t like either.
cheers
eon
One other thing: To echo Gov. Romney: Some people pick winners and losers, O only picks losers.
“As for modern enlightened elites’ being more open-minded, go to Democratic Underground, HuffPo, or any university PoliSci website and say something nice about the United States or Israel. Then duck.”
Oh, yeah. Heck, try saying something nice about America or Israel in the freaking NYT or WaPo comment sections for that matter. It occurred to me a few years ago that “mainstream” opinion in the US has become decidedly anti-US. Declining civilization? You decide. Now somebody give Obama a fiddle and please pass the bread and circuses.
the attempt to move voters against Obama by exposing Jeremiah Wright’s “Goddamn America” rant failed.
…. but now that America has seen BHO put Wright’s words into action they are very motivated against him!
If Obama had gone to Benghazi and shot the ambassador himself, the media would not have reported, most Americans would know nothing about it, and the Democrat voters who did know about it would vote for him anyway. We are long, long past the time when Democrats can have scandals that most of the electorate will hear about, or at least hear about with a shred of accuracy. The combination of a ruthless, anti-democratic media and a lazy, gullible voting public that still takes its view of reality therefrom brought us Obama to begin with. Until the media are thoroughly overthrown by alternate media and an attentive, interested public, there are no depths to which a Democrat politician cannot sink with impunity. Maybe that day is somewhat closer than in 2008, but we are still a very long way from it.
Basically, Obama was elected as a novelty President, and the novelty is wearing off, rapidly. I don’t think he’d even break even as a dashboard doll for that selling like a buck toothed ho Chevy Volt. But I can see him in platform shoes partnering up with Big Bird for a cut of the red S T shirt sales on Sesame Street.
Apparently, French President Hollande doesn’t seem to be sitting and waiting for answers and drawing up conclusions Dr. Rubin. I’ve read he’s fairly resolved to lead a NATO revolt against Obama’s Syrian policy since the Benghazi disaster.
IN LESS THAN 4 WEEKS AMERICANS WILL ELECT THE NEXT PRESIDENT, AND WE HAVE THE RIGHT TO KNOW WHO IS WHO. BREAKING! OBAMA’S RING: ‘THERE IS NO GOD BUT ALLAH’. NEW YORK – As a student at Harvard Law School, then-bachelor Barack Obama’s practice of wearing a gold band on his wedding-ring finger puzzled his colleagues. Now, newly published photographs of Obama from the 1980s show that the ring Obama wore on his wedding-ring finger as an unmarried … READ MORE: http://bwcentral.org/2012/10/breaking-obamas-ring-there-is-no-god-but-allah/
As unimpressive as he his, Obama is not so dumb as to not understand that the Nation’s who live by the Sword and embrace an “eye for an eye” legal system, who chop off people’s heads and hands on hearsay and without due process, are “engage-able” in the manner to which he speaks!
He is deliberately dismantling our foreign policy influence and enabling our enemies. He is the Infidel placed in the White house and is undermining us while pretending to be working for us. He is practicing taqqiya and anyone who trusts him or thinks otherwise will pay dearly for it!!!
That is the appropriate weblog for anyone who needs to seek out out about this topic. You notice so much its almost onerous to argue with you (not that I actually would need…HaHa). You positively put a new spin on a topic thats been written about for years. Great stuff, just great!
