Obama at AIPAC: Beneath the Flattery, He Revealed His Indifference to Israel’s Needs and His Tilt Against It
I expected President Barack Obama’s AIPAC speech would be a bunch of feel-good clichés to persuade the audience that he is Israel’s best friend. Thus there would be nothing worth analyzing in it. But as I read the speech carefully I was astonished at how thoroughly Obama reveals his underlying miscomprehension, indifference, and even hostility toward Israel.
Examine this speech and you see everything wrong — far more than in his Cairo or State Department speeches on the Middle East — with Obama’s view of Israel and why he cannot be trusted on this issue.
There are some remarkable Freudian slips in his formulations and they have nothing to do with his discussion of the framework for Israeli-Palestinian peace.
He spoke at great length of his support for Israel, how he wants it to be strong and secure, and the common values of the two countries. Yet if he really thinks that, why didn’t he say such things in his State Department speech on the Middle East or elsewhere?
Obama stated:
We also know how difficult that search for security can be, especially for a small nation like Israel in a tough neighborhood….When I went to Sderot, I saw the daily struggle to survive in the eyes of an eight-year old boy who lost his leg to a Hamas rocket. And when I walked among the Hall of Names at Yad Vashem, I grasped the existential fear of Israelis when a modern dictator seeks nuclear weapons and threatens to wipe Israel off the map.
Yet his regional policies have undermined Israel’s security:
- Without getting anything from Hamas (the group that shoots rockets at Sderot) he pressed Israel to reduce sanctions against Hamas, helped bring into power a pro-Hamas government in Egypt, and sent $400 million in U.S. taxpayer money that objectively strengthens the Hamas regime.
- By not actively opposing Hizballah and Syria taking over Lebanon, thus increasing the threat on Israel’s northern border.
- By waiting so long before he moved on Iran sanctions and by failing to support the Iranian democratic opposition.
- By acting as an apologist for the Syrian terrorist-sponsoring dictatorship.
- By not keeping U.S. promises to Israel on countering Hizballah’s return to southern Lebanon.
- By helping create a situation in Egypt that will definitely lead to a radical, anti-American, anti-Israel takeover and probably lead to an Islamist regime there.
- By becoming an apologist and booster of the most anti-Israel (and Islamist) Turkish government ever he has done nothing to help Israel deal with the enmity of its closest regional ally. Obama quickly capitulated to the Gaza flotilla.
- By never really criticizing or pressuring the Palestinian Authority on anything at all, even when it rejected his initiatives, broke its promises to him, or made him look foolish. Consider Vice President Joe Biden’s temper tantrum about a Jerusalem zoning board okaying a construction project in the distant future to the administration’s basic indifference to ongoing PA incitement and the naming of things in honor of terrorists who murdered Israelis.
That’s not a complete list.
He may talk a good game on Sderot and Yad Vashem but in practice, his policies have largely ignored the points he made to AIPAC.
Because we understand the challenges Israel faces, I and my administration have made the security of Israel a priority. It’s why we’ve increased cooperation between our militaries to unprecedented levels.
Obama is correct that U.S.-Israel military cooperation remains quite strong, but his policy shows he definitely does NOT understand the challenges Israel faces.
Today, Iran is virtually cut off from large parts of the international financial system, and we are going to keep up the pressure. So let me be absolutely clear – we remain committed to preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.
Nice words, but in fact Iran is finding a lot of loopholes; Obama is not cracking down on Russia, China, and Turkey (to name the three main countries that are helping Iran).
As I said on Thursday, the Iranian government has shown its hypocrisy by claiming to support the rights of protesters while treating its own people with brutality. Moreover, Iran continues to support terrorism across the region, including providing weapons and funds to terrorist organizations. So we will continue to work to prevent these actions, and will stand up to groups like Hezbollah who exercise political assassination, and seek to impose their will through rockets and car bombs.
As you already know, the Obama administration has distinguished itself by the minimum it has done regarding Iran’s repression of the democratic opposition. And how has the U.S. government stood up to Hizballah? In fact, it has most definitely NOT stood up to Hizballah.
And I indicated on Thursday that the recent agreement between Fatah and Hamas poses an enormous obstacle to peace. No country can be expected to negotiate with a terrorist organization sworn to its destruction. We will continue to demand that Hamas accept the basic responsibilities of peace: recognizing Israel’s right to exist, rejecting violence, and adhering to all existing agreements. And we once again call on Hamas to release Gilad Shalit, who has been kept from his family for five long years.
Once again, though, the opposite is true. Up to Obama’s recent State Department speech, the administration’s talking points were NOT to condemn the agreement but to take a wait and see approach. Even Obama’s discussion of the issue in his major speech did not attack the agreement (much less pressure the PA against doing it), but merely said that they would have to prove to Israel they were going to adhere to the Quartet conditions. Indeed, the PA and Hamas have already come up with clever ways to get around these issues.
As I said to Prime Minister Netanyahu, I believe that the current situation in the Middle East does not allow for procrastination.
In principle, Obama’s idea that we must do something quick to resolve the Israeli-Palestinian issue because of current conditions (I’ve been hearing that exact line for 40 years) sounds nice. In practice, though, here’s what it amounts to: The Palestinians are intransigent. They should not be punished. Israel must make more concessions.
Obama doesn’t take the Hamas threat seriously, nor does he take a real tough line on incitement. The only thing he presses the PA on is that it should talk, not that it should give.

Obama’s true colors were obvious to me before he was ever elected. I was amazed back then that he got a single Jewish vote. The man DESPISES Israel, and has for many years. It was there for anyone to see who wasn’t deliberately blinding themselves.
Those who are still trying to convince themselves of Obama’s basic goodwill are seriously delusional.
Obama’s quoting the Talmud assures us that he had little if anything to do with writing this speech. The speech was designed! It was designed for a few limited purposes! To maximize campaign contributions. And assuage those irritable Jews! Period!
Obama hisses like the snake he is when he speaks.
Thank you! I was beginning to think that I was the only one who noticed that the Anointed One whistles his esses. I’ve heard before that Arabs already think that all speakers of English hiss like snakes.
Pragmatist,he is indeed a snake.
Obama will flip flop, pandering for votes and (Jewish)cash regardless of his real intentions. He is a master of deceit, a ‘blank’ canvas which the AIPAC crowd willingly cheered.Useful idiots….
Truth be told, Obama set in stage a tsunami of events with the INTENTION of destroying Israel-peace by peace, piece by piece.Consider:the only bulwark against the Brotherhood in the Middle East was Mubarak. While a far from ideal ‘partner’ for peace, he still kept the Islamists at bay. Moreover, he was considered an ally of the US, so dictating him to GO NOW made no (immediate)sense.HOWEVER, if the goal is to get rid of Israel and empower Islamists then his strategy was spot on.
Moreover, Obama has always surrounded himself by anti-Israel advisors, Samantha Powers and Rashid Khalidi at the forefront. The company one keeps is a barometer of ones future intentions.
So, is it ANY wonder that Obama actually intends to weaken Israel-despite his verbal gymnastics-to the point of its destruction, irrespective of his volte face at AIPAC?
Adina, well said! I so agree with you.
Every knows continued war will equal peace and peace mean war in the form of the breakout of armored formations from the West Bank that will cut Israel in half.
Being an utter moron I’m sure our President can see the truth in this simply by default.
why do you insult snakes??
Why do they give him an audience? Obama, like most politicians, tailor their speech to the special interest they’re addressing at the moment. Only now Obama has shown over the last 2 years that the solution to “peace” in the Middle East is to give the Palestinians everything they want, mark off another item on his “to do” list with another unprecedented accomplishment, and when the inevitable catastrophe unfolds as Israel is ultimately forced to defend it’s sliver of dust and it’s very existence, Obama will give them an “attaboy”.
“By not keeping U.S. promises to Israel on countering Hizballah’s return to southern Lebanon.”
This is perhaps the thing that sticks out most in my mind. Lebanon once had a decent future with, of all things, a democractic government. It actually had a chance to make something of itself. But then Syria decided to try and take over, al Qaeda made a move in that country, and Hezbollah grew dramatically in Southern Lebanon with the help of Syria and Iran. Yet we did very, very, little about any of this. Now there is an actual danger that Hezbollah will take over most of the country, acting as a proxy for both Syria and Iran. Yet we still do nothing. I don’t know how long the Christian groups in Lebanon will be able to hold on, but if they lose and Hezbollah wins, this will be as big a disaster as Obama NOT supporting the protesters in Iran in 2009 after those rigged “elections.”
If anything, Lebanon was worth way, way, more than Libya ever was and, strategically, could have acted as a knife to the throat of both Syria and Iran had it gone directly in the pro-western camp. A democratic Lebanon would also have secured Israel’s norhtern border. But now that looks doubtful considering how powerful and well-armed Hezbollah has become. Does anybody at the White House actually look at a map of the Middle East every now and then? Maybe they could learn something by looking at one occasionally.
“Does anybody at the White House actually look at a map of the Middle East every now and then?”
Naw, that’s too much like work. It might cut into tee time.
The tactics of declarations of Israel`s support and doing the oppozite Obama,to tell the truth adopt from the liberal Jewish leaders. The racial(and Muslim) question is the main inner and international problem of Obama becides the question of 2012.I think he perceive himself a foreigner of non-white race and converted to Christianity. He looks at Israel from the East side.
Once again, a conclusion drawn from a faulty assumption. Today’s canard: ‘Obama is not a friend of Israel’. The Republicans have long wished to gain in Jewish votes, but a party that puts itself above the country and has no social conscience can only have success among the minority of Jews who don’t care about society.
The speech Obama made did not represent new policy. It represents US policy since 1967. The lie, and it is a lie, that somehow Obama is abandoning Israel, that he’s hostile to Israel, etc; etc; has credence only among the naive and sore loser Obama haters. If Obama walked on water, Rubin would complain that the water was polluted.
Now, let me explain why Obama’s take is smart and in Israel’s best
interests: Just as only a Nixon could have opened China, only a
Netanyahu (like Sharon before him) can make peace. It will be easier for him if he can point to outside pressure to relieve some political pressure he’d otherwise have to take alone. This would have been the case under Bush, whose childishly incompetent foreign policy left an almost equivalent mess for Obama to clean up as did his economic policy.
The main problem is that Netanyahu’s base does not want peace, because they believe in the concept of a greater Israel (wrt size). At the first sign that he is considering a peace deal, his coalition may fall. But if he has the stones to give it a go, Obama’s given him the cover he absolutely has to have.
OBAMA’S AIPAC SPEECH: IS HE NAIVE, OR INSANE?
Obama did a splendid job yesterday reading from his teleprompter. But in the course of his speech when he told AIPAC (who cheered his insincere pro-Israel statements) that he wasn’t “naive” he should have been laughed off the stage. Trying to restart a failed and disastrous peace process with an implacable enemy hell-bent on Israel’s destruction is not just naive, it’s insane in the Einsteinian sense; for what better term is there to describe someone who imagines he can succeed where better men under more promising conditions have failed?
Without a scintilla of evidence that the Palistinians were ready to do an Anwar Sadat and accept Israel’s right to exist as a Jewish State Obama (like Bush 41 and Clinton before him) recklessly plunged ahead pressuring Israel to make unilateral concessions on freezing settlements, wisely resisted by Netanyahu. After two years of Obama relentlessly demanding concessions from Israel, then publicly raising the issue of the 67 borders, Netanyahu had enough and put an end to this nonesense by politely scolding a livid president in public. Obama is insanely blind to his own naivity and folly, as are all the fairyland losers on the radical Left when it comes to the Middle East and the civilizational war with Islam.

Let’s write a story for all those “Not me, I’m not an anti-semite!”‘s.
Once upon a time … there was this tiny country called Arab-Palistine — the only Arab/Muslim country in the world. It has 7 Million citizens, 2 Million of which are Jews with more rights than anywhere in Jewdom, and 5 Million Arab/Muslims. It’s the only real democracy in the region.
All the huge, surrounding nations are Jewish nations — all theocracies and undemocratic — whether their totalitarianism is by a dictator or religious dictatorship … there’s Jewordan, Jegypt, Jyria, Jebanon, Jiraq, Jiran, Jurkey, etc.
There had always been Arab-Palestinians living in the land — their people had an ancient history there — and it was the center of their religion — and its holy places. Almost 65 years ago — Europe had begun it’s most massive “pogrom” — a holocaust — which had been a customary amusement in Europe for 2,000 years — but this time it was the worst.
While that extermination was going on in WWII, Arab-Palestinians living in Arab-Palestine had irrigated the desert and brought farming to the little land, and many Jews from surrounding Jewish lands in Jewdom had come there to prosper, for their own lands were very poor. Those Arab-Palestinians purchased unused desert and swamp lands from Jewish owners in Jyria, Jurkey, etc., with the permission of the Jurkish Rabbinate — who were in charge of all the lands.
The Arab-Palestinians who were living there, wanted to bring in their Arab-Palestinian brethern who had suffered and survived the great holocaust. Since the land in the area had been the property of the Jurkish Empire which no longer existed — and was now in the control of the British … (oh, there’s a lot of story here, I’m going to skip most of it — most of the stuff between WWI and WWII) — the UN decided they would provide a homeland for the persecuted Arab-Palestinians. They divided up some of the tiny area, giving the best lands to the Jews who were living there — but never mind that — the Arab-Palestinians accepted it. Finally, a place to call home — their one and only home — in their ancient homeland.
The British set up a High Commission of Jewdom — it’s head was the Jewish Mufti — who called on all Jews all over Jewdom to come to live in Arab-Palestine and to fight the Arab-Palestinians — many came. Many Jews, on instructions from the Jewish Mufti — terrorized and murdered innocent civilians for no other reason than being there.
5 Jewish nations sent their armies into the tiny Arab-Palestinian land … but there was a miracle — and the Arab-Palestinians survived.
Over the years, the Jews in the many mighty surrounding Jewish nations continued to hate the tiny Arab-Palestinian country and it’s inhabitants — and continued to try to destroy it. They just couldn’t bear the idea of even one non-Jewish nation — no matter how tiny — among the vast lands that they considered Jewish.
The little country and its people fought many wars attempting to defend themselves.
Some Jews, who had once lived in the land of the Arab-Palestinians, but left during the first war because their leaders told them to (just temporarily they thought) — these Jews live in an area that was lost to them in one of the wars. These Jews have consistently committed terroristic acts against innocent civilian Arab-Palestinians, as they have gone about their daily lives — especially against the children. These Jews in the West Bank and Gaza — they hate the Arab-Palestinians — much more just because of their religion and race — than for any land issues. Of course, the entire vast area of the Middle East is Jewish. There are gigantic Jewish countries all around with basically the same culture as the one’s living in West Bank and Gaza.
But the countries have kept them where they are, impoverished, enraged and ultra-radical — these Jews — so that ultimately at some point — the hope of the many Jewish nations is — that they destroy the tiny country — and will slaughter the Arab-Palestinians each and every one. Their religious leaders have told them it is their obligation to do so.
=============
Hmmm. All those pro-Palestinian non-anti-semites. I bet they get a cramp in their belly when they hear this horror story with the characters reversed.
P.S. In recent times, the U.N., Europe, NGO’s — and now the President of and many in the U.S. — all side with the many Jewish nations and Jews in the area who want to destroy the tiny country — attempting to stop it from defending itself, and these humanitarians don’t care how many are slaughtered.
The obvious lie in the Liberal Progressives humanitarian
“concern” is that they could care less about the subsequent blowback from their careless, utopian and often reckless actions. They feel deeply for the right to abortion but not the murder of the infant, they demonstrated fiercely against the US in Vietnam but cared not a wit about the slaughter of the South Vietnamese after we withdrew, and in this case they will cheer on the fight for repatriation of the Palestinians right up to the mass slaughter of the Jews of Israel without batting an eye. Scratch a Liberal Progressive and beneath the rhetoric you will find a totalitarian monster
This is brilliant.
I see Obama personally as being about as passionate about Israel as he is, say, about ice hockey, but because he was carried to the presidency by an apparatus of left-wing special interest groups is very open to going along with the views of those who are passionate about Israel, and not in a positive way.
Obama’s incurious nature about things that don’t affect Obama means that since there isn’t a way to gin up support domestically by being rabidly pro-Palestinian or anti-Israeli, it’s not something that’s going to grab his attention. He’s just happy to go along with whatever his very liberal advisers think, and many of them are rabidly pro-Palestinian, particularly when Israel has a leader like Netanyahu, since the left sees Likud basically as the Middle East version of the Republican Party. But at the same time, Obama’s political people do grasp the fact that they can only be hostile to Israel in a very limited fashion without creating potential problems for themselves in 2012.
So you get these efforts by Foreign Policy Team Obama to (what they think is) subtly move the bar in the direction of Hamas, and when they’re found out go scrambling back in the other direction with efforts to try and split the difference even more, with something like Obama’s AIPAC speech. Which Obama really doesn’t give a damn about anyway, except that he’s got a bunch of big Jewish donors they tell him he needs to keep happy (if there was a speech Obama could have given with passion on Sunday to AIPAC, it would have been to tell them to tell their Israeli friends to stop voting “Republican” and get Bibi out of there so they could have a more malleable government to deal with, in the same way Clinton sent James Carville over to Israel to run Labor’s campaign, because he believed Ehud Barak would be more malleable to OKing a peace deal with Arafat that would win Clinton the Nobel Peace Prize and the legacy he craved).
From todays news-
” Massive tornado kills dozens in Joplin, Mo.
At least 89 are dead after a twister cuts “the city in half” and leaves a grim path of wreckage in its wake ”
The Almighty has turned from mercy to Judgement.
I agree 100%
I don’t agree. If the Almighty really wanted to show Judgement, the tornado would have levelled the White House and left Joplin Missouri alone.
Absolutely! Because of our leaders WE are being JUDGED!
I totally agree. It’s crossed my mind more than once. But since I personally think Obama is an atheist, I doubt he’s given it a second thought.
Oh, and, btw…all this BS Obama is spreading around reminds me of a story they used to tell the Jews long ago in Germany. The story was that the Jews were just being resettled in the East. Remember that one? I’m sure some people believed it too.
If there is a worse cultural and religious bigot and racist on this web site who would it be exactly?
Those are human beings asswipe.
Psalm for that day-
” 1. A song, a psalm by Asaph. 2. O God, do not be silent; do not be quiet and do not be still, O God. 3. For behold, Your enemies are in uproar, and those who hate You have raised their head. 4. They plot deviously against Your nation, and conspire against those sheltered by You. 5. They say, “Come, let us sever them from nationhood, and the name of Israel will be remembered no more.” 6. For they conspire with a unanimous heart, they made a covenant against You- 7. the tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites, Moab and the Hagrites, 8. Geval and Ammon, and Amalek; Philistia with the inhabitants of Tyre. 9. Assyria, too, joined with them, and became the strength of the sons of Lot, Selah. 10. Do to them as to Midian; as to Sisera and Yavin at the brook of Kishon, 11. who were destroyed at Ein Dor, and were as dung for the earth. 12. Make their nobles like Orev and Ze’ev, all their princes like Zevach and Tzalmuna,1 13. who said, “Let us inherit the dwellings of God for ourselves.” 14. My God, make them like whirling chaff, like straw before the wind. 15. As a fire consumes the forest, and a flame sets the mountains ablaze, 16. so pursue them with Your tempest and terrify them with Your storm. 17. Fill their faces with shame, and they will seek Your Name, O Lord. 18. Let them be shamed and terrified forever; let them be disgraced and perish. 19. And they will know that You, Whose Name is the Lord, are alone, Most High over all the earth. “
I’m not sure what the people of Joplin had to do with this issue. Are you sure that the tornado was not just a result of the meeting of cold and warm air masses
You seem to have joined ranks with the fellow who predicted the world would end last week, because he “knew” what the Almighty intended. Tornados are very common in the midwest, and we’ve had several deadly ones already this year. So all of a sudden this one is divine punishment? Be careful not to take God’s name in vain. Micah admonishes man to “walk humbly with thy God.”

No – all of them are. I knew our protection was gone 10 years ago on 9/11. We have not repented as a nation and now have elected an man who is enemy to God’s chosen people. Elections (choices) have consequences.
Menachem Ben Yakoz must belong to a different branch of Judaism than what I have known my whole life. In his version he has direct communication with God who tells him why he caused this earthquake or that tsunami. Presumably he can also tell us why an individual was hit by lightning or was killed by a falling tree.
Job 38
Then the LORD answered Job out of the whirlwind and said,
2“Who is this that darkens counsel
By words without knowledge?
3“Now gird up your loins like a man,
And I will ask you, and you instruct Me!
4“Where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth?
Tell Me, if you have understanding,
5Who set its measurements? Since you know.
Or who stretched the line on it?
6“On what were its bases sunk?
Or who laid its cornerstone,
…
“Have you entered into the springs of the sea
Or walked in the recesses of the deep?
17“Have the gates of death been revealed to you,
Or have you seen the gates of deep darkness?
18“Have you understood the expanse of the earth?
Tell Me, if you know all this.
” When the Holy One, Blessed be He, is angry with the nations of the world that don’t help Israel but want to evacuate and disengage, and interfere in our affairs and harm us then the Holy One, Blessed be He, claps his hands in sadness, and this causes the quake ”
former Israeli Chief Rabbi Mordechai Eliahu
That is not our concern Menachem. Our concern is with life on earth given to us .
“Lo Ba’Shamayim Hi”. The Torah is not in heaven. It is is here on earth.
Sanhedrin 34 (a) “one who saves a life it as if he saved an entire world”.
The Yerushalmi text in mishna is “ben Adam” literally son of man. That includes everybody.
You think ribboah shel olam has his whole plan set out for you. You can understand better than anyone what G-d had in mind. Maybe he wanted you to go to Joplin and help somebody in distress.
Maybe that one mitzvah, or even something you could do in your life to support or tzdakah (charity) might have made some difference.
We cannot all be life saver heroes every day. Chabad rabbi loaded up his car with provisions and drove out. I did not do something so heroic.
T’hillim (psalms) are always there and I have turned to that many times. They are a comfort when we need to reconnect.
Shalom
You are very confused.
Obama has shown that he will say anything to maintain and gain power. It is important to watch what the Obama Regime DOES not what it says.
I wish everyone would stop thinking that Obama is making MISTAKES. All of his actions have a goal in mind. He is playing politics. If it was his to do and his alone, Israel would have been destroyed on his second day in office.
Obama 2012. Tell all your friends, Please think before you vote.
Barack Obama talks out of all sides of his mouth when he speaks, when at State he says what they want to hear, when at AIPAC he mouths what they want to hear, and I can guarantee you that when he speaks to an Arab American group they will come out believing that Obama has said what they want to hear.
The trouble is of course that at heart, Obama truly holds Israel responsible for the tensions in the Middle East, America’s poor standing here, and the breakdown in relations with the Palestinians.
Barack Obama is bad enough for Israel now, but he will be Israel’s real nemesis if God forbid he should win another term in office.
How can Obama get applause at AIPAC when he openly lied to them? It is a question I can’t answer. Are they completely blind? The old policy of keeping one’s enemies even closer isn’t going to work with Obama. He is truly malevolent, a genuine anti-Semite and is a total tool for the Muslim and far left anti Israel agenda.
I understand the conundrum AIPAC is in. If the Jewish community does not support him and he looses all is well. But if they don’t support him and he wins all could be lost. Even if they do support him and he wins he will turn on Israel anyway. But, to give such applause to someone who is bent on damaging you is, at least, self defeating and as dishonest as Obama.
The best advice I can give AIPAC is to get busy helping to elect conservative, pro-Israel senators and representatives that will act as a buffer to counteract what Obama is going to try and do to Israel because I don’t see any winners amongst the current crop of Republican presidential candidates. And Israel better get busy making more nuclear weapons. They will probably need them because Iran and Pakistan will be fully armed in a few years and they will use them.
I said to friends of mine when Obama was elected that I had a deep feeling of foreboding about what was going to come on this nation. I didn’t think about Israel and the Jewish community but here it is. Thank G-D Netanyahu had the courage to confront “The One”.
You beat me to this question. I also was wondering why there was so much applause. Do these people think at all before they vote?
Obama’s speeches always sound better than they read. He got elected by the power of his rhetoric rather than the power of his ideas. Where is the surprise?
I disagree. I can’t stand the sound of his voice as he reads the words written by some other idiot.
Thank you: Menachem Ben Yakov
As of this morning deat toll reaching 100. We in Springfield have sent fire truck rescue squads and police patrol cars. National Guard was activated. 18 Miles of Interstate 44 from Oklahoma Line to Hwy 71 has been closed by Hwy Patrol. Construction contractors locally have sent loaders to area to clear the streets. Volunteers to help have been asked to report to Missouri Southern College or Liggett and Platt Manufacturing.
Thanks again.

Parts of the Psalms that were read on that day -
By David. Fight my antagonists, O Lord, battle those who battle against me. 2. Take hold of shield and armor and arise to help me. 3. Draw a spear, and bar the way before my pursuers; say to my soul, “I am your deliverance.” 4. Let those who seek my life be shamed and disgraced; let those who devise my harm retreat and be humiliated. 5. Let them be as chaff before the wind; let the angel of the Lord thrust them away. 6. Let their path be dark and slippery; let them be chased by the angel of the Lord. 7. For without cause have they laid their nets in the pit for me; without cause have they dug [pits] for my soul. 8. Let darkness come upon him unawares; let the very snare that he hid trap him, in darkness he will fall in it.
Let not those who hate me without cause rejoice over me; [let not] those who despise me without reason wink their eye. 20. For they speak not of peace, rather they scheme deceitful matters against the broken of the land. 21. They opened their mouths wide against me, they said, “Aha! Aha! Our eyes have seen [his misfortune].” 22. You saw, Lord, be not silent; my Lord, be not distant from me. 23. Rouse and awaken Yourself to my judgement, to my cause, my God and my Lord. 24. Judge me according to your righteousness, Lord my God; let them not rejoice over me. 25. Let them not say in their hearts, “Aha! We have our desire!” Let them not say, “We have swallowed him!” 26. Let them be shamed and disgraced together, those who rejoice at my trouble; let them be clothed in shame and humiliation, those who raise themselves arrogantly over me.
Mercy has turned to Judgement.

Psalm for the day the Tsunami hit Japan-
” A psalm by David. Render to the Lord, children of the mighty, render to the Lord honor and strength. 2. Render to the Lord the honor due to His Name; bow down to the Lord in resplendent holiness. 3. The voice of the Lord is over the waters, the God of glory thunders; the Lord is over mighty waters. 4. The voice of the Lord resounds with might; the voice of the Lord resounds with majesty. 5. The voice of the Lord breaks cedars; the Lord shatters the cedars of Lebanon. 6. He makes them leap like a calf, Lebanon and Sirion like a young wild ox. 7. The voice of the Lord strikes flames of fire. 8. The voice of the Lord makes the desert tremble; the Lord causes the desert of Kadesh to tremble. 9. The voice of the Lord causes the does to calve, and strips the forests bare; and in His Sanctuary all proclaim His glory. 10. The Lord sat [as King] at the Flood; the Lord will sit as King forever. 11. The Lord will give strength to His people; the Lord will bless His people with peace.”
Fear of G-d is the beginning of Wisdom.
**************
I have seen enough death and destruction in my life for 100 lifetimes. I have lost a son in battle. There is no greater pain.
In my prayers I beg The Almighty to return from Judgement to Mercy. I plead for the wellbeing of the United States because THE PEOPLE OF AMERICA ARE GOOD. I do not claim to understand all but I can nt remain silent when so many wallow in blindness. I am sorry if my words added to your pain. Shall I remain silent when the driver of a full bus steers it over a cliff with the death of all the consequence? What shall I do when the writing on the wall screams yet those who are responsible for the nation cover their ears?
My heart breaks for your suffering. All joy is drained from my body. The worst is yet to come.
Yet ” G-ds help comes in the twinkling of an eye “. All the nations of the world must come together and support Jewish sovereignty on ALL of Eretz Yisroel. There is no other hope.
Our support for Israel or lack of it plays no part in the path of tornadoes, Menachem. God’s may hold a special place for Jews and Israel, but no longer is the land of Israel of prime importance. All of that ended when the purpose for which Israel was created was fulfilled: the death and resurrection of Jesus. Scripture is quite clear. The Church is the new Israel, as testified to in the new Testament (all Christians are now essentially Jews-by-adoption). As for tornadoes, earthquakes, tsunamis, plague, pestilence, wars, and famine, they are simply signs that the end times are here (“For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places.” Mathew 24:7).
Do not be fooled into thinking that we will gain God’s blessings or avoid His judgement by any actions that we take with regards to Israel. If we support Israel, it should be for political and economic reasons, and for the sake of common human decency.
You are free to worship as you please. I think your comments are nonsense. And your replacement theory requires the complete suspension of intellect. What you consider new testament and old testament is more correctly referred to as revised and original. The arrogance of your position is part of the problem with your faith. You think that only you have the answers and others are lesser than. Shame on you.
“The worst is yet to come.”
I have no doubt of that.
Forget Menachem. He represents only his own distorted version of Judaism.
This is how a true Torah Jew responds:
JTA) — At least two Jewish brothers are missing in the wake of a deadly tornado that tore through Joplin, Mo.
Other members of the small Jewish community there are in need of basic supplies, Chabad.org reported late Monday.
Rabbi Yehuda Weg, the Tulsa-based director of Chabad-Lubavitch of Oklahoma, drove to Joplin Monday night with a list of Jewish community members in need or missing and a car full of supplies, joining volunteers from the American Red Cross and local disaster agencies, according to Chabad.org.
….
The Jewish Federation of Kansas City has set up a special fund to help all of the victims of this tragedy.

Now you, son of man, I have made you a lookout for the house of Israel, and you will hear a word from My mouth, and you shall warn them from Me.
8. When I say of a wicked man, Wicked one, you shall surely die! and you did not speak to warn the wicked man from his way-he is wicked and for his iniquity he will die, but his blood I shall require of your hand.
9. But you-if you warned a wicked man from his way, to repent thereof, and he did not repent of his way-he will die for his iniquity, and you have saved your soul.
10. Now you, son of man, say to the house of Israel; So have you spoken, saying: For our transgressions and our sins are upon us, and because of them we are melting away, so how can we live?
11. Say to them: As I live, says the Lord God, I do not wish for the death of the wicked, but for the wicked to repent of his way so that he may live. Repent, repent of your evil ways, for why should you die, O house of Israel!
12. And you, son of man, say to the members of your people: The righteousness of the righteous will not save him on the day of his transgression, and the wickedness of the wicked-he will not stumble upon it on the day of his repentance of his wickedness, and a righteous man cannot live with it on the day of his sinning.
13. When I say of the righteous that he will surely live, and he relied on his righteousness and committed injustice, none of his righteous deeds will be remembered, and for the injustices which he committed he shall die.
14. And when I say of the wicked man, “You shall surely die,” and he repents of his sin and performs justice and righteousness,
15. The wicked man will return the pledge, he will repay the theft; in the statutes of life he walked, not to commit injustice-he will surely live, he will not die.
16. All his sins that he sinned will not be remembered for him: he performed justice and righteousness; he will surely live.
17. Now, should the members of your people say, ‘The Lord’s way is not right,’ but they-their way is not right.
18. When a righteous man repents of his righteousness and commits injustice, he will die because of them.
19. And when a wicked man repents of his wickedness and performs justice and righteousness, he shall live because of them.
And in addition to what he said are the important things he does not say. He never asks the Palestinians to give up the “right of return”. He does not insist that all parties respect Israel’s right to exist. He does not ask the Palestinians to renounce terrorism.

I want to repeat what I already posted elsewhere yesterday.
Obama said in his speech to the State Department on Thursday and he repeated it again in his speech to AIPAC yesterday:
“I said that the United States believes that negotiations should result in two states, with permanent Palestinian borders with Israel, Jordan, and Egypt, and permanent Israeli borders with Palestine. The borders of Israel and Palestine should be based on the 1967 lines with mutually agreed swaps, so that secure and recognized borders are established for both states. The Palestinian people must have the right to govern themselves, and reach their potential, in a sovereign and contiguous state.’
People have suggested that ‘contiguous’ means a corridor from Gaza to Samaria which would cut Israel in half. That does not take into account the matter of the borders. Observe: Palestine, not Israel, is to border Egypt. That means that the plan is to take the Negev from Israel. This obviously means that the planned contiguity is to be achieved by having Palestine wrap from Gaza south to the Negev, east across the Negev, and then north to Samaria. For all that Obama says about Israel and Palestine settling borders between themselves, he has basically specified the final arrangement he wants to see accomplished.
It is also to be observed that there is a strange omisssion in this specification – there is no mention of the northern borders. Lebanon and Syria are not mentioned. Is this a matter of carelessness or is there another hidden plan behind it? If Israel is truly only to border Palestine, that means the probable loss of the Golan Heights to Syria and a northern Palestinian corridor cutting across the Galilee from the Jordan to the Mediterranean.
As someone has already said, deja vu Czechoslavakia.
Why was AIPAC cheering on Sunday ?
While I am at it, I have a question. Why this great effort by the US to force a peace on the area ? Yes, there was the UN Resolution. But no other nation is seeking to enforce that resolution. And there are other war areas in the world for which noone is seeking to enforce a peace. Why not just leave the Palestines and Israelis at war ?
Obama has to read his tele-prompter VERY CAREFULLY when reading what to say about Israel.
Or he might blurt out something about “Hymies” like they do in Rev. Wrights and Jesse Jackson’s “sermons”
Obama is no different than his tele-prompter, which has no conscience or common sense.
Clueless? Why would Obama be clueless? He knows exactly what he is doing: undermining Israel, the US and the West, as fast as he can. Why waste time listening to President Taqiyya? Better keep on writing on all the things he is doing and keep on showing that not-s-pretty picture to the dimwits who still vote for him!
“My heart goes out to the poor souls who are suffering.”
I think that’s the first time I’ve ever seen hate speech worded like that.
Well done.
Could you arrange a little tsumani on my block? I think there’s an atheist around.
And how do I pay? Prayers, some incense? What?
There was a tornado in North Minneapolis – lot’s of people didn’t support Israel in their thoughts I guess.
“Again, though, there’s a Freudian slip here. For Obama’s failure to recognize the motivation means he doesn’t understand the problem. ”
“That means he doesn’t realize the sacrifices Israel has made for the cause of peace. . .”
“On that point, Obama is totally clueless.”
“One more Freudian slip. Israel isn’t doing enough to keep the Palestinians from abandoning negotiations.”
Rubin alternates between accusing Obama of making Freudian slips and of being clueless. In fact, these are two contradictory ways of understanding Obama. Freudian slips indicate that some unconscious knowledge, which the conscious mind rejects, breaks through to the surface. Being clueless means having no knowledge whatsoever. I think both of these explanations of Obama’s words are mistaken.
I think he is a demagogue and he knows perfectly well how to say what people want to hear. He also knows what he wants to accomplish. He is in no way clueless about the situtation in Israel. He knows it very well.
The only reason negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians are not even handed is that there is a political agenda driving it. For one thing there is the oil, which is why the State Department has always favored the Arabs. Countering the oil is the strategic advantage of having a democratic state in the Middle East, which is why the Military favors Israel. That balance of interests in the past has kept the White House policy with Israel balanced. More recently, the alliance of the Leftists with the Palestinians, their agitprop, and the fact that Obama himself is a Leftist has been responsible for disrupting that balance.
As a demagogue Obama knows what not to say as well as what to say. And Rubin is right on the mark in bringing attention to all those matters.
But you must remember that Obama is not Reagan who wrote out all his speeches on yellow legal pads. Obama’s speeches are written for him and vetted. It is to be expected that when speeches go through many passes with additions, rewritings, and cuttings by people on his staff and from different departments that some things slip through which betray intentions that contradict other things that are included in the speech. Rubin is right to call attention to these also. But don’t call them Freudian slips – which would suggest that we should analyze Obama’s psyche. Recognize that these slips may provide clues as to the infighting within the administration and direct our attention to where there might be some leverage.
my main problem with the “speech” were not the words themselves (not a surprise to anyone really); what surprised me was the audience’s reaction to the words
the applause when obama said things like: “israel is our friend” cheer cheer; “‘rosy’ and i go way back” applause applause; etc…
i have heard that the audience was “instructed” to show obama reverence and remain cordial (why?)
what were the qualifications to sit in the audience?
is aipac just another organization in the back pocket of the american left?
this speech had a very “stockholm syndrome”/shilled flavor to it that was very tough to stomach
Barry, we need to take a look at what we know, before we analyze what Obama says.
1)He…and his leftist/Islam outreach administration believe that terrorism is a “police matter”.
2) He and his Woodstock Nation administration do not like the police, think they are “pigs” and they don’t trust them.
3)His cadre of advisors on Israel matters have included Robert Malley, Samantha Power, Zbigniew Brzezynski, Jim Jones and George Mitchell. A veritable “murderers row” lineup of those who would sell Israel on E-bay for a nickel and a paper clip.
4) Obama announced early on that he would speak to anyone in the Mideast without preconditions….I mean…other than Israel. For that little speck of sand…he wants them to give up so much territory, you could throw a rock across the thinnest part of the country. And, if it hit a Jew on the head, he would exclaim that there wasn’t even a place for a poor rock to fall…without a Jew getting in its way.
5)On every other international issue, Obama “leads from behind”. The poor Georgians are pummeled, the brave Iranian protestors are savaged, the Syrians are annihilated…and Obama fiddles. The ONLY country that Obama seems to love to insult to their face, leave them to dine alone, ….is Israel.
6)More and more and more each day…that tape held hostage by the LA Times becomes the golden key to understanding what is behind all the pretty words and lovely sentiments. Get the LA Times to stop being a co-conspirator in hiding the truth and it will lend clarity to what should already be obvious.
It`s offencively to hear as some simple-hearted Jews are puzzled at Obama`s and liberal Jewish leaders lie about their support of Israel. They don`t understand the medieval tradition of the court Jews.
For God’s sake, Apollo, quit with the ads for yourself already!
Your ego must be massively intrusive to anyone you spend any time with!
The mystery isn’t why Jews can be counted on to vote 75% democrat when liberals clearly aren’t looking out for the interests of Jews or Israel. The mystery is why conservatives and republicans always look out for the interests of Jews and Israel.
Before being sworn into office as the President of the United States, Obama stated his intentions ‘to fundamentally transform the United States of America’. What he should now say is that his intentions include ‘to fundamentally transform the world as we know it’. . . after identifying the appropriate emergency or crisis to fullfill sweeping changes . . . until or unless challenged by the free.
Why oh why do people listen to his speeches. It’s never aboutwhat he says but what he does!!
Caroline Glick in todays J Post cites a Washington Post article demonstrating that the ’67 phrase was indeed very deliberate. Israelis has requested weeks before that it not be included in the speech. While Obama seldom writes his speeches he wrote those lines into the text himself. Bibi was told of it as he was boarding the plane to the US.
Now he is trying to play it off as a misunderstanding.
I really could spend hrs going through you, continue the truly amazing work!
But don’t give up hope yet! … Get Back your Ex now, or forget him forever! … to get your ex lover back with his online course ‘The Magic of Making up’ here is a 8 …
Oh wow, that did it – my eyes are open now. It’s like Plato’s dialogues or whatever he did.
Never knew Turkey wasn’t a democracy – crazy how they all vote and stuff. Idiots.
Never knew Jordan and Egypt were theocracies.
Now that I know the TRUTH that Bizarro world-views gives me I can go back to what I was doing before:
Enjoying science fiction by reading manuals on gardening.
Dirty Arabs spoiling everything like that. Ptoooie! I spit on them.
Can you stand over my shoulder for the rest of my life? I need galvanizing.
Here’s how a human being responds: PEOPLE died.
Reportedly they all had two arms, two legs, and two eyes.
What a disturbing thread. Forget last names and religions: hate speech is hate speech.
Spoken like a true fascist.
