Lisa Murkowski Ponders GOP Resistance to Climate Change

Climate change is one of those topics where you can typically judge someone’s politics by where they stand on the one issue. Those who lean progressive typically scream how we have to “do something” and take the claims of climate alarmists without question. They even wonder just why anyone would question those claims.

Alaska’s Lisa Murkowski may have an “R” after her name, but her comments in a recent speech have many scratching their heads.

“We have to have a better discussion about climate change and the responses to it,” she said in a speech at the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners’ Winter Policy Summit. “We have to not be afraid to use terms that some might say, that’s politically charged. Why is it politically charged to say climate change? I see in my state the impact we have from warming temperatures.”

She went on to argue it’s an absolute fact that temperatures are rising as result of man-made emission of carbon dioxide.

Well, I’ll tell her why it’s politically charged.

You see, for years the doomsayers have been crying about how the sky was falling. They’ve told us time and time again how climate change — then called “global warming” — was going to end us all. They presented 20-year models that showed us horror story scenarios of what the world would be like very soon.

But then the models started coming due.

Time and time again, the models were shown to be wrong. They weren’t just off by a little bit, either. They were off on a massive scale. They were so horribly and completely wrong that it was laughable.

These scientists who wanted to completely upend our economy, force us to devolve to pre-industrialized conditions, were shown to not actually understand what the hell was going on.

Science is predictive. We know, through science, how certain cells will reproduce, which means if we watch those cells long enough, we already know what we’ll see. We can predict it.

But with climate change, the supposed science isn’t predicting anything.

And that is why the phrase “climate change” is so politically charged. While Republicans are thought of as the party that relies on its faith in God, the Democrats are the party that relies on its faith in climate science.

And yes, the word “faith” is the right word. Absent predictive models that pan out to be even close to reality, they put their faith in scientists who claim it’s really happening.

Science is supposed to be questioned and examined, even by laymen. But when a lot of us question it, we’re told that we should listen to our betters. That’s a sign that something is amiss — that we are talking politics, not science.
