Univision Host Holds Obama Fundraiser at Her Home

Perhaps Univision should just openly admit that it’s now a wing of the DNC. The Spanish-language network is taking no action so far against Liliana Estefan. Estefan, host of Univision’s popular “El Gordo y la Flaca” show, is hosting a Democratic fundraiser at her home. President Obama himself will attend.

Estefan is quite a political catch. She’s a star. She’s the niece of music stars Emilio and Gloria Estefan. And the Cuban-American, along with husband Lorenzo Luaces, is a registered Republican.

The president also has a DCCC fundraiser at the home of Alonzo Mourning.

The Estefan fundraiser underscores the affinity between Univision and the Democratic Party these days. The network is partnering with Obama’s former Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, in an outreach effort. Univision owner Haim Saban is a major Democratic donor who said he’d back Clinton with “full might.”

Even MSNBC, which is openly leftwing to the point of mimicking the Democrats’ “Forward” slogan with a “Lean Forward” slogan of their own, have not allowed their hosts to hold such obviously partisan events as Univision is allowing. MSNBC even suspended then host Keith Olbermann after he donated money to Democrats.

I happen to know from my time at the Texas GOP, that there are folks within Univision who are not Democrats and who want their network to be seen as fair and unbiased by both parties. Allowing Estefan’s fundraiser to go forward without any sanction will severely damage the network’s aspirations.
