With Everything Going on in the World Today, Obama Naturally Planning Big Climate Change Move

With scandals still brewing, the Senate rushing toward a vote on a massive immigration reform bill, and “reset” Russia having facilitated the flight of NSA leaker Edward Snowden, the White House is naturally turning its focus this week to… climate change.

It’s so high on the policy totem pole that senior administration officials are holding a background call for reporters later today to dish all the juicy highlights.

Organizing for America got the jump on the news with a Sunday email to supporters about “Tuesday’s big announcement.”

President Obama is set to announce his plan this week to address the growing threat of climate change.

We’ll know more specifics on Tuesday, but it’s expected he’ll offer a bold, national approach to reducing carbon pollution — and lay out a vision to lead global efforts to fight climate change.

The powerful, well-financed forces who still deny the science behind climate change aren’t going to like this — and they’ll be fighting this progress every step of the way. In fact, before he’s even seen the plan, House Speaker John Boehner is calling it “absolutely crazy.”

That’s why President Obama is calling on all of us — anyone who believes that climate change is a threat — to join him in taking action right now.

Today Obama meets with “business leaders to discuss the importance of commonsense immigration reform including the Congressional Budget Office analysis that concludes immigration reform would promote economic growth and reduce the deficit,” according to the White House guidance.

On Tuesday, he has meetings before leaving on his Africa trip Wednesday. Obama and the first family will make stops in Senegal, South Africa, and Tanzania.
