Ousted Tea Party Lawmaker Launches New Super PAC

A Tea Party congressman who was voted out in 2012 after one term in office has launched a new super PAC to get conservatives elected to office.

Rep. Jeff Landry (R-La.) was pitted in a redistricting contest versus fellow Republican Charles Boustany, losing by more than 20 points in November.

His new Restore our Republic PAC will seek to support “principled, courageous candidates who will fight for individual liberty, economic freedom, personal responsibility, a strong national defense and traditional values.”

“In today’s political environment it is not enough to support candidates who espouse conservative ideas,” said Landry. “Restore our Republic will look for freedom-loving candidates who have the courage and conviction to stand up for conservative principles even when the pressure is great. As a former member of Congress, I know how important it is to elect conservative reinforcements to help many of my former colleagues who are already leading the fight for freedom and prosperity.”

Restore our Republic is an independent expenditure committee and can raise unlimited campaign contributions.

Support from conservatives on the Hill includes one of three members who was booted off a plum committee this Congress and protested to House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio).

“Now, more than ever, we need strong principled conservatives fighting for real change in the House,” said Rep. Dave Schweikert (R-Ariz.). “Restore Our Republic PAC is the organization committed to doing that.”
