Enjoying a fine spring day in the nation’s capital, the White House welcomed thousands of people to the South Lawn today for the 135th annual Easter Egg Roll.

Not content to roll eggs on the ground with a captive audience, Michelle Obama uses the historic event as a Let’s Move! event: “Be Healthy, Be Active, Be You!” is this year’s theme, and numerous sports starts are participating.

It seems President Obama will not be counted among those star athletes.

Known for spending his weekends either golfing or shooting hoops — depending on the weather — the president hit the basketball court at the egg roll with the Washington Wizards.

Obama stood at the free-throw line, according to the White House pool report, and kids were directed to stand on either side depending on whether or not they thought he’d make the shot. One boy stood on the “miss” side.

Obama said “oh, man” and stared at the boy with his hands on his hips, but the kid refused to move.

The president missed his first shot. “Come on. Come on. Did you see that?” Obama said.

Even moving closer to the net, Obama continued to make a series of off-the-rim shots and airballs.

Of 22 shots counted by reporters, the president made just two.

“He couldn’t make one. I had to help him out,” said Kahron Campbell, 10, of Landover, Md., told the White House pooler after scoring a layup.
