Nashville Taxis for Terror

Two scheduled votes today in the Tennessee House and Senate Judiciary committees on a bill that would allow the state to prosecute terrorism and material support for terrorism cases is being actively opposed by the Tennessee Muslim Community. Joining them in their opposition to the anti-terrorism bill today is the Nashville Metro Taxi Drivers’ Alliance, who is giving free rides to bill opponents from various area mosques to the legislative plaza. Here is the announcement circulated by the Islamic Center of Nashville yesterday:

When coming from the hearing, they will be ready at in front of TPAC which is facing the main entrance of the legislative plaza on 6th Ave, just let them that you were there for the hearing. They will be running from 9am till the last one of us leaves the plaza in the afternoon. If you could not get your ride, please call Br. Abdulkadir Gure at (615) 944-9113 or Br. As a reminder, in 2007 a Muslim Nashville taxi driver ran down two passengers after getting into an argument with the pair.
