In an attempt to lower the bar on fake news, the media cartel merchants last night and earlier today attacked Trump for tweeting about a “classified” CIA Syria rebel support program that has been the worst-kept secret in the Middle East for the past five years:
The Amazon Washington Post fabricated the facts on my ending massive, dangerous, and wasteful payments to Syrian rebels fighting Assad…..
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) July 25, 2017
This is the same “classified” program that the Washington Post, New York Times, and many other outlets reported on Trump cancelling just last week:
Trump ends the CIA’s covert program of arming anti-Assad rebels in Syria, a move likely to please Russia https://t.co/wvguaf8GvQ
— The Washington Post (@washingtonpost) July 19, 2017
Trump ends covert aid to Syrian rebels who are trying to topple Assad, a decision bound to be welcomed by Russia https://t.co/KtDhu9oMr6
— The New York Times (@nytimes) July 20, 2017
Anyone else find it weird that both WaPo and NYT had exactly the same take?
The head of Special Operations Command, Gen. Tony Thomas, confirmed the closure of the rebel support program last Friday at the Aspen Security Forum, a comment that many media outlets reported on:

SOCOM Commander Thomas says #CIA training program for #Syria rebels ended based on assessment, not favor to #Russia
— Anna Varfolomeeva (@AnnaEngV) July 21, 2017
You can even find a Reuters report on Gen. Thomas’ statements at the New York Times:

— Amelia Robinson (@AmeliaJRobinson) July 21, 2017
In fact, President Obama spoke about the “classified” program in an interview with Tom Friedman in the New York Times in August 2014, complaining that they were having trouble finding suitable candidates to train, equip and arm for “secular Syrian rebels”:
Op-Ed Columnist: President Obama Talks to Thomas L. Friedman About Iraq, Putin and Israel http://t.co/MsvMVItNm3
— The New York Times (@nytimes01) August 10, 2014
Even worse, the former vice chair of the Democratic National Committee, Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, spoke about the same “classified” CIA program on Tucker Carlson’s show LAST NIGHT, but without the media outrage:
.@TulsiGabbard was on Fox News tonight to show her support for Trump ending the CIA program which armed Al-Qaeda terrorists in #Syria. pic.twitter.com/0gydzuj3mk
— Sarah Abdallah (@sahouraxo) July 25, 2017
All that notwithstanding, the media cartel went into anti-Trump berserker mode:

Now remember, these are some of the exact same outlets that reported on the cancellation of the CIA program LAST WEEK.
Obama officials and Obama himself have talked to the press about the CIA program publicly and on background since the program was announced FIVE YEARS AGO:

— Reuters Politics (@ReutersPolitics) June 22, 2015
Obama even had to waive regulations preventing the transfer of arms to terrorist groups for the “classified” CIA program:
Obama waives ban on arming terrorists to allow aid to Syrian opposition http://t.co/jUlquhqxGI by @Joelmentum
— Washington Examiner (@dcexaminer) September 17, 2013
And yet former Obama adviser Ned Price had to play the hypocrite:
If the media reports are true, the President of the United States just confirmed a CIA covert action program. On Twitter. https://t.co/fEmuqHDWN9
— Ned Price (@nedprice) July 25, 2017
Now mind you, the rebel groups receiving support posted videos on YouTube of them using CIA-provided TOW anti-tank missiles as a requirement for participating in the CIA program. But they NOW want to complain the program is “classified”? Are you kidding me? Even more astounding was the claim by Adam Goldman of the New York Times questioning Trump’s claim that the program was “massive, dangerous and wasteful”:
If Obama's @CIA's program in Syria was "massive, dangerous, and wasteful" as @realDonaldTrump just said, @CIA should release details.
— Adam Goldman (@adamgoldmanNYT) July 25, 2017
Yesterday here at PJ Media, I spent nearly 4,000 words (could have easily been 10,000 words) covering how disastrous the CIA’s Syria rebel support program has been:
Trump Shuts Down CIA Support for Syrian 'Rebels' After Years of Chronic Failure https://t.co/gVgd93XOHq via @pjmedia_com
— Patrick Poole (@pspoole) July 24, 2017
Who do they think they’re fooling?
The non-stop manufactured outrage directed at Trump by the same media cartel that was AWOL on Obama DOJ gun-running to Mexican cartels, Benghazi, Hillary’s illegal mail server, and pallets of cash flown to the largest state sponsor of terrorism is one of the factors that contributed to his election in the first place.
It’s not only exhausting, it’s hypocritical.
Even more remarkable is that as newsrooms are laying off hundreds, this behavior is not even in their own self-interest.
America is long over the pretense that the news media are trying to be objective. Many Americans, myself included, are just tired of the mendacity, duplicity, and hypocrisy of the hyper-partisan media cartel.
