It looks like 2017 is going to be a big year for the Carter family! Beyoncé took to Instagram today to announce that she’s pregnant with twins! The 35-year-old superstar bravely revealed her bare pregnant belly on the social media site. She was draped in a sheer green veil, wearing nothing but a bra and underwear, kneeling in front of a big floral arrangement. It’s a much more dramatic way to announce a pregnancy than most people would opt for, but let’s face it, Beyoncé is not most people.
She and husband Jay Z are already parents to their 5-year-old daughter, Blue Ivy. Back in 2011, the couple announced their first pregnancy on the red carpet as Beyoncé cradled her growing bump.
Beyoncé and Jay Z have been married since 2008. US Magazine has this to say:
Last year, the pop superstar made headlines when she released her acclaimed visual album Lemonade, which showcased the betrayal of a romantic partner, prompting fans to speculate that Jay Z, 47, had been unfaithful with the so-called “Becky with the good hair.” At the end of the hourlong film, the couple seemingly made amends as Beyoncé sang, “True love breathes salvation back into me / With every tear came redemption / And my torturer became my remedy.”
No doubt Beyoncé wanted to get this announcement out to the public prior to her upcoming appearance at the Grammy Awards on February 12. The pop star leads with nine nominations for Lemonade. She will also be performing at the event. Her shows are usually chock-full of barely-there costumes and high-intensity dance numbers, so who knows what kind of performance she has planned with her baby bump!
As for names for the twin Carters? Only time will tell. But there are certainly plenty of other colors left in the rainbow for inspiration. Congratulations to the beautiful family!
