De Niro Claims Trump Will 'Want to be King for Life'

Hollywood Actor Robert De Niro claimed that President Donald Trump is going to “want to be king for life” if he wins again in 2020.

The Twenty-Second Amendment limits a president from serving more than two terms.

“He’d want to get elected a third term, he even joked about it. He’d want to be king for life. All these things are true,” De Niro, star of the new film The Irishman, said on The View. “This guy has got to be taken seriously and he’s got to be taken out of office.”

De Niro also said he personally considers Trump worse than the gangsters and mobsters he has portrayed in Hollywood films.

“To me, he is, because he has no understanding that I can see of the outside world other than anything around him,” De Niro told The View co-host Joy Behar. “He has no idea of what his purpose in life as the president should be, and that is to pull the country together, to be for the people, to heal wounds, not to open them up and pour salt on them.”

The Academy Award winner predicted Trump would likely be acquitted in a Senate impeachment trial but said the House has to impeach him to put “a stain” on his presidency.

“No matter what, he’s going to try and use it that he got ahead of it and say, ‘I beat it like a gangster, I beat the rap like the “Teflon Don,”‘ but he has to take that punishment. He has to pay the consequences,” he said. “He did something wrong — he has to pay for it.”

De Niro said he would “disown” his own children if they were like Trump’s children.

“I don’t want my kids to take this the wrong way, but if my kids did what these kids did, I wouldn’t want to be related to them. I would disown them,” he said. “I’d have a serious talk with them. First of all, it’s an impossibility — my kids are not like that, of course.”
