Michigan Congresswoman Elissa Slotkin (a Democrat, of course) voted recently to impeach President Donald Trump. It was, she says now, a risky move, but she considered it necessary because Trump supposedly acted in breach with the Constitution (which is nonsense). Well, she might have gotten herself into an even riskier situation than she anticipated. At a recent town hall, her constituents booed her and gave her a piece of their minds.
When Slotkin walked up on the stage, she was immediately booed. Constituents were holding signs reading, “Impeach Slotkin, Keep Trump” and “Democrats: the Party of Hate.” The organizers actually had to tell the audience to “please let her speak.”
“I’ll talk you through my logic,” Slotkin said while her constituents continued to boo her and demand answers for her impeachment vote. “I know it’s clear, we don’t all agree. But I’m going to walk you through my logic in an attempt to be transparent.”
“I knew from the very beginning,” she went on to say, “that this was going to be a controversial decision.” While she admitted this, the crowd only seemed to become angrier. “That was something I understood from the very beginning.” It was, however, something very important “for me to do,” she said. Her constituents, meanwhile, shouted their disapproval at her. At a certain moment, she could scarcely be heard over the angry shouts from the crowd.
Later on, she said that “I hope that you believe me that I made this decision out of principle and out of a duty to protect and defend the constitution.” The crowd’s response? “Nooooooooo.” Ha.
Slotkin continued. “I feel that in my bones, and I will stick to that regardless of what that does to me politically, because this is bigger than politics.” A more ridiculous statement has seldom been heard, of course. Impeachment is political. What’s more, Democrats despise the constitution. They consider it an outdated document written by a bunch of slavers. They only refer to their constitutional duties now because it — wait for it — serves them politically.
Clearly Slotkin’s constituents aren’t fooled by her “logic.” Afterward, a local reporter (see video) talked to individual constituents who told her that Slotkin wasn’t convincing and that she has now lost their support — if ever she had it.
Oh, as a bonus: Slotkin parked her car illegally. A local business owner got angry. Eventually, Slotkin forced a staffer to “personally apologize” for it. That footage is at the very end of the video. Be sure to watch it. It’s hilarious and it shows us just what kind of woman this is: she doesn’t apologize for it in person, no, she uses her power and authority to make an underling humiliate herself. Pathetic.
