Bernie Sanders may want to open our borders and give illegal immigrants everything they need courtesy of the taxpayers, but twelve years ago he was singing a very different tune. In 2007, Bernie Sanders appeared on Fox News with Lou Dobbs to discuss amnesty—which Bernie Sanders opposed at the time. Sounding relatively reasonable for a socialist, Sanders wanted the economic implications of guest worker programs to be looked at.

“If poverty is increasing and wages are going down,” Sanders said, “I don’t know why we need millions of people to be coming into this country as guest workers who will work for lower wages than American workers and drives wages down even lower than they are now.”

What’s changed since then? Democrats desperately need the votes of illegal immigrants to regain power. Bernie’s point about illegal immigrants willing to work for lower wages than Americans is still very much valid today, but he now wants to open the floodgates. It just goes to show you that, just over a decade ago, amnesty was too radical for a socialist, but today is mainstream in the Democratic Party.
