Good Tuesday morning.
Here’s what’s on the president’s agenda today:
- The president meets with Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
- President Trump hosts a law enforcement roundtable on sanctuary cities
- The president attends the National Republican Congressional Committee March dinner
BREAKING: Explosion Reported at FedEx Ground Facility in Texas
There has been an explosion reported at a package facility in the San Antonio area.
The blast happened overnight Tuesday morning at the FedEx Ground distribution center in Schertz, just northeast of San Antonio on FM 3009 Highway.
The first unconfirmed reports of the explosion came in around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday.
Trump’s opioid speech in New Hampshire
Yesterday, President Trump spoke in New Hampshire, a state hit particularly hard by the opioid epidemic. Trump highlighted border security, sanctuary cities, and the DACA program during his speech.
“Ninety percent of the heroin in America comes from our southern border, where eventually the Democrats will agree with us, and we’ll build the wall to keep the damn drugs out,” Trump said.
He also spoke about increasing penalties for drug dealers. “If we don’t get tough on the drug dealers, we’re wasting our time,” said the president. Trump took the opportunity to hit the Democrats on DACA. “They don’t want to go with DACA because they don’t care about DACA, but they’re trying to tie the wall to DACA, and DACA to the wall,” Trump said. “And they want to keep DACA for the campaign instead of getting it approved, which we could do very easily.”
Senator Dick Durbin disagreed with the president’s approach. “We cannot arrest our way out of the opioid epidemic — we tried that and ended up with an even bigger addiction problem and the world’s largest prison population,” Sen. Dick Durbin (Ill.), the No. 2 Senate Democrat, said in a statement. “Everyone from doctors to law enforcement understands that addiction is a disease, not a moral failing that can be beaten simply by getting ‘tough on crime.’”
Trump lawyers turn over documents to Mueller
On Monday, President Trump’s legal team turned over “written descriptions that chronicle key moments under investigation” to Special Counsel Robert Mueller. Writes the Washington Post:
Trump’s legal team recently shared the documents in an effort to limit any session between the president and special counsel Robert S. Mueller III to a few select topics, the people said. The lawyers are worried that Trump, who has a penchant for making erroneous claims, would be vulnerable in an hours-long interview.
D.C. lawyer Joe diGenova will officially join the Trump legal team later this week. It seems like diGenova knows what’s going on with the Mueller witch hunt.
DiGenova has cast the Russia inquiry as “an attempt to frame an incoming president with a false Russia conspiracy.”
In a stinging January interview with The Daily Caller, diGenova accused the top leadership in the Obama Justice Department of “plotting” against Trump.

Eric Holder weighs in
Eric Holder, former President Obama’s “wingman” and the only attorney general in United States history to be held in contempt of Congress, has chimed in on the firing of former FBI employee Andrew McCabe.
“It may be that at the end of the day … [McCabe’s] termination is appropriate,” Holder said. “But you know, you don’t rush that component of it to meet a deadline that I think the president essentially set. You’re the Attorney General of the United States. You run the damn Justice Department. You know? And you’ve got to have the guts to look at the president every now and again and say ‘no.'”
Fool, the recommendation to fire McCabe came from McCabe’s colleagues at the FBI. Are you suggesting they are tools of President Trump?
“You’re the president of the United States and you’re going after a career deputy FBI director … who doesn’t really have the capacity to defend himself, certainly while he was in that position,” he told Mo Elleithee, executive director of Georgetown’s Institute of Politics & Public Service.
No capacity to defend himself? McCabe was hosting some kind of meeting in his office to discuss some kind of insurance policy that would safeguard the country from freely electing their chosen president. Gimme a break.
