THE DIVISION IS BETWEEN THE IDIOTS AND THE NON-IDIOTS: ‘SNL’ host Bill Burr divides fans after controversial opening monologue.

Wearing a grey face covering, the 52-year-old comedian hosted the second episode of the season, using a portion of his monologue to criticize white women who “somehow hijacked the woke movement.”

Burr described the “woke movement” as one revolving around “people of color not getting opportunities … that they deserve.” It was unclear whether he was explicitly referring to the Black Lives Matter movement amid the death of George Floyd after a white police officer kneeled on his neck.

“Somehow, white women swung their Gucci booted feet over the fence of oppression and stuck themselves at the front of the line,” Burr said.

He added that he has “never heard so much complaining in my life from white women.”

“My life is so hard. My SUV and my heated seats. You have no idea what it’s like to be me,” Burr went on.

He then questioned the length of Pride Month in June, asking the audience if a month is “a little long, don’t you think?”

Plus: “I love that Bill Burr made a perfect joke about white women making everything about us and then a bunch of white women on Twitter lost their minds because they think it was a mean joke. Thus….proving his point.”

WHY BOTHER SHOWING UP? CNN SAYS HE’S 16 POINTS AHEAD. NO REASON EVEN TO BOTHER VOTING, IT’S OVER. Stay home, Biden voters. Stay safe, while you await his inevitable landslide victory.

THIS APPEARS AT LAWFARE, WHERE THEY’VE BEEN KICKING AND SCREAMING SHAMEFULLY NONSTOP SINCE NOVEMBER OF 2016. The Powerful Norm of Accepting the Results of a Presidential Election.

I think that contemporary political culture got a major dose of poison when Al Gore un-conceded after giving up the race to George W. in 2000. He let his crew talk him into mounting a challenge because he lacked the character to do the right thing. It’s too bad, as his original concession was quite graceful. The Lawfare piece tries to get by that by congratulating Gore on his second concession, but come on, man. . .

GOODBYE, RUBY TUESDAY: Ruby Tuesday closes 185 restaurants after filing bankruptcy. Once the founders sold out, back in the first decade of this century, it went downhill fast. I remember my daughter’s horror when the French Onion soup — once a signature item served in a baked crock covered with melted cheese — was replaced with a sad bowl with a piece of cheese toast floating on top. Whoever allowed that should have been locked in a closet and fed 1950s British food for the rest of their natural life.

This reminds me that once I thought they would learn from their mistakes. I was so naive back then.

UPDATE: From the comments: “Fox News is on the same path under their new management.” Harsh, but fair. Tucker is Fox’s French Onion soup. If they replace him, drop your cable.

EXCEPT THAT HARRIS ACTUALLY TALKED AS MUCH AS PENCE DID: #Manterrupting In The VP Debate.

And the moderator was shamefully biased. Also, the use of terms like “mansplaining” and “manterruption” is sexist bilge from sexist bigots.

BOLD STRATEGY, COTTON: Buzz grows around Andrew Cuomo as Biden’s attorney general pick.

Flashbacks:

Andrew Cuomo, Serial Killer.

No, Governor Cuomo, COVID-19 Is Not ‘Just a Metaphor’: Cuomo’s tortured analogy obscures his own failed leadership as the coronavirus claimed the lives of 30,000 New Yorkers.

Chris Cuomo’s COVID-19 Interviews With Andrew Cuomo Are Disgraceful.

And finally, from America’s Newspaper of Record: Man Who Believes He’s On The Right Side Of History Announces Crackdown On The Jews.

UPDATE: The above Axios article notes that “Biden is clearly fond of Cuomo, but he’s also committed — and under pressure — to name a racially and gender-diverse Cabinet, including the marquee posts. Names like former acting AG Sally Yates and Stacey Abrams are also likely on a list of AG candidates.”

Perhaps the burnout from governing Georgia during these tumultuous times is driving the latter candidate’s desire for a career change.

WHICH IS IT? 1619 OR 1776? Bret Stephens, in what may be his last NYT column, tracks the foundational rewriting of the 1619 Project.

Read the whole thing. Have the summer newspaper bullpen riots stopped? Or will Stephens be the next (more or less) grownup to be thrown to the wolves at the New York Times? In any case, all is happening in accordance with the prophecy:

Yet another reason why the 1619 Project’s Pulitzer Prize should be revoked.

UPDATE: NYT’s union resorts to an ad hominem attack (complete with an “it’s” typo), rather than arguing with Stephens on the issues:
