It is ten years — May 2nd 2011 — since Osama bin Laden went to his virgins. Observances of the anniversary are muted – either because the once most famous man on the planet is now entirely forgotten, or because the Afghan withdrawal renders the whole subject too depressing. At any rate, many of the psychoses noted a decade ago have now spread far beyond anything so narrow as America’s longest unwon war.
