Why Matt Drudge gets the big bucks — check out the shirt on Michelle Obama in the photo he (or one of his editors) chose to accompany her quote whining that as First Lady, she’s in a “prison:”
First Lady Michelle Obama on Tuesday described living in the White House as like being in a “really nice prison.”
Obama’s comment came during her discussion with former First Lady Laura Bush at the African First Ladies Summit in Tanzania during an interview moderated by journalist Cokie Roberts.
Roberts noted that Martha Washington, the first First Lady, also described living in the role as akin to being a state prisoner.
Obama said she loved her job and found it liberating in some respects, but confining in others.
“There are some prison elements to it,” she joked. “But it’s a really nice prison.”
Former first lady Laura Bush reminded the crowd that First Ladies had a chef.
“You can’t complain,” Michelle Obama admitted. “But there is definitely elements that are confining.”
In addition to Drudge pouncing on Michelle’s Kinsley-esque gaffe, it didn’t take long for Twitchy to spot the “Snap of the day! Destroying Michelle Obama’s White House is a prison whine with one tweet:”

It’s amusing hearing Michelle add, “you can’t complain” — because like a pressure valve, on a regular basis, she blows off a fair amount of angry steam complaining about the hell that she imagines her life to be:
Michelle Obama got bad press galore during the 2008 campaign. She got her image readjusted — feminized, really. She became the wonderful mom, fashion icon, and purveyor of vegetables. You can just imagine how much she liked doing that. But as she stretched out within the hyper-feminine role imposed on her, she got into the manifestation of femininity that rubs people the wrong way. Too much shopping and free-spending on superficial, materialistic pleasures. It’s the classic feminine protest against confinement in a feminine role. Don’t like it? Then don’t limit powerful women that way. But if Michelle Obama isn’t limited, most people won’t like her. We saw that in 2008. I mean, I liked her, but it didn’t play well generally.

Fortunately for the First Lady — and the rest of us — her sentence will be commuted in January of 2017. Like Michelle, you too can count down the days!
