Commie Hypocrisy: Mamdani Axes Public Access to America250 Ball Drop to Focus on FIFA World Cup Events

Communist and socialist oligarchs (socialism after all is only a somewhat milder form of Communism) always indulge in lives of luxury while impoverishing their citizens and yet brazenly claiming they are champions of the people against exploitation. Mamdani is no exception. He ran on promises of helping the poor and the discontented in New York, but his policies all tend toward destroying the economy in New York. And now he is adding the crowning insult of restricting access to a historic event that was supposed to be open to the public. 

Even more hateful is that Mamdani's order is supposedly to control the use of police resources the week of the FIFA World Cup, which is taking place at the end of June and the first half of July in stadiums including Philadelphia's and New York's. So the 250th birthday of America has to take a backseat to an international soccer tournament. Somehow, I don't think the founding generation would be impressed. And this seems a good place for me to mention my opinion that whichever American authorities approved the FIFA World Cup games for their historic U.S. cities over the week of July 4, 2026, deserve to be excoriated. Our nation’s history should be more important to us than a soccer tournament. And yes, I know that America doesn't just pick the tournament's dates since it's international — my point still stands.

But to return to Mamdani. The Times Square ball drop event set for July 3, meant to ring in America's 250th birthday in the Big Apple on July 4, was going to be a public event, but Mamdani abruptly issued an emergency order to prevent certain large gatherings over the summer, according to Fox 5 New York. That emergency order included the ball drop, and an America250 spokesperson announced:

America250 and One Times Square will host a July 3 Times Square Ball Drop to ring in the Fourth of July. Much like New Year’s Eve, the celebration will be broadcast live, giving millions the chance to be part of the moment from wherever they are. A limited, ticketed in-person experience inside One Times Square will also be available, with details to come.

Fox 5 indicated this change to a limited and ticketed event coincided with Mamdani's order.

The Times Square Alliance president was more apologetic. "While disappointed we will not have a public event for America250, all events are not created equal, and we will continue to try and work with the city to get approvals not only for legacy events but for new and exciting events that require minimal or no city resources or events that can be managed safely with private resources," he added. We wouldn't want one of America's most important cities to go all-out for our 250th.

Mamdani won't give a hoot about all the disappointed citizens, like the ones in the above video, who had planned to attend the ball drop. As a matter of fact, Democrats have always been hypocritical elitists, which is why they took to Marxism so naturally. Their very name, "Democrats," implies a philosophy of the people and for the people, and yet from Andrew Jackson onwards, they have always demanded "freedom" and wealth at the expense of others, whether that was through slavery or through political violence or through election fraud or through mass migration for cheap labor. 

Again, this is why the Democrat Party facilely aligned itself with socialists and Communists in the last century. It's partly why Franklin D. Roosevelt and Harry Truman were so enamored of Soviet dictator Joseph Stalin, and why modern Democrats love to praise the genocidal Chinese Communist Party. Mamdani is part of that continuum.
