Hamas top dog Khaled Mashal just affirmed what many of us knew already: that his terrorist group will certainly not stop waging jihad on Israel. That is why they refused to disarm, and why there unfortunately could be more Oct. 7 massacres if decisive action is not taken to empower Israel and kneecap both Hamas and their funders in the Palestinian Authority.
Mashal referred to bloody jihad as "resistance," because he promotes the utterly false propaganda that the Israelis — who were granted the land by God Himself in perpetuity (Genesis 17:8) thousands of years ago and who reclaimed the land through extraordinarily legal means in the modern ago — are occupiers. But the point remains that Mashal is openly stating Hamas's ongoing commitment to its genocidal goal of wiping Israel off the map.
The Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI) translated Mashal's Feb. 8 comments at the Al-Jazeera Forum in Qatar. The Qatari regime, of course, is a major sponsor of Hamas. Mashal lectured deceptively, "The philosophy of the resistance is that as long as there is occupation, there will be resistance. Resistance is the right of people under occupation, and it is part of international law and divine laws." By that he means Islamic law sanctions jihad, which indeed in the Muslim religion is a short cut to paradise.
Mashal pontificated, "Resistance is part of the memory of nations. It is part of the human memory that nations are proud of. Today, when you read the history of any nation, it starts with its big battles against its enemies. This is how we analyze Palestinian behavior. We should not see October 7 as the beginning of the conflict." No, indeed, the conflict is far older than Oct. 7, 2023, and goes back long before the Arab jihadis began calling themselves "Palestinians." And it will therefore also not be ending any time soon.

This, by the way, is why the Gaza Board of Peace (which includes Qatar) was doomed before it ever launched. There will never be peace between devout Muslim regimes or terrorist groups and Israel, except ceasefires of the most temporary kind, because this is a conflict that goes all the way back to the founding of Islam and the Muslim “sacred” texts that explicitly endorse the massacre of Jews.
For nearly a century now, Western and Israeli leaders have been giving ever more concessions to the Islamists, not to mention doling out parcels of Israeli land to Muslim Arabs, as if there were not already 50 Muslim nations in the world compared to the single Jewish nation. These concessions have been a failure and they always will be. You cannot have peace with people who think they'll earn eternity in paradise for burning your babies alive. Nor can you erase 1,400 years of violent hatred with a bureaucratic entity.
Rape, sex slavery, honor killings, child brides, and jihad are just a few of the evils explicitly endorsed by Islam's "sacred" texts. Muhammad and his inheritors took all the worst crimes and vices of the barbaric tribes populating what we now call the Middle East and tried to frame them as virtues. Mashal and his ilk are simply continuing that long and inglorious tradition of egging on their followers to commit the most bestial atrocities while simultaneously claiming the moral high ground.
