The Democratic mayor of one of Arizona’s biggest cities possibly just violated federal law and endangered ICE in an effort to direct hostile protesters to disrupt ICE arrests.
Regina Romero, the mayor of my hometown of Tucson, posted the location of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers on Facebook today. After stating the location of the officers’ operation, she falsely claimed “protestors” have a “right to protest and document these activities,” before hypocritically claiming she respects the law. This comes just after a Tucson congresswoman aggressively disrupted an ICE arrest and lied about what happened.
Romero did pay lip service to compliance with federal law by telling protestors to “remain peaceful” once they reached the location she described as the scene of an ICE operation. “The Trump administration wants to create fear and chaos in our community,” she said, totally ignoring her own divisive words.
Mayor Romero babbled on, “Please stay safe and do not physically engage with federal agents. As your Mayor, I am committed to keeping Tucson a safe city where everyone’s rights are respected and legally enforced at all times.”
It’s difficult for me not to react to that with obscene expletives. Under Romero’s “leadership,” homeless drug addicts have encamped in our neighborhoods and taken over our parks, trashing countless public places and private property. Illegal aliens have poured into Tucson, increasing crime and vehicular accidents, and exacerbating the housing problem. Homicides are on the rise this year and violent crime skyrocketed as of last year in our county (Pima), even as authorities released more criminals. The Goldwater Institute reported:
In 2023, Tucson police reported a 75% spike in violent crime, with aggravated assaults rising 88 percent, homicides rising 107%, and sexual assaults rising a whopping 188%. In fact, violent crime rates in Tucson are 95% higher than the national average.
And now, Regina Romero’s priority is doxing ICE, encouraging leftist protestors, and trying to protect illegal aliens — even as Tucson voters recently rejected a proposal to make this a sanctuary city. What a despicable woman she is.

Fortunately, ICE still managed to arrest 46 illegals in Tucson, some for sexual assault or human trafficking. ICE reported today that at “one of the locations,” more than 100 protestors tried to interrupt a raid and even locked ICE officers into one area. The rioters then turned to slashing federal vehicles’ tires and assaulting ICE, during which time U.S. Representative Adelita Grijalva (D-Ariz.) screamed at and tried to impede federal officers. She subsequently issued false accusations against ICE online. Two federal agents were injured during the protest.
Romero was not quite so brazen as Grijalva, but her doxing of ICE and encouragement of protestors could potentially be in violation of federal law. 8 U.S. Code § 1324 condemns anyone who “conceals, harbors, or shields from detection, or attempts to conceal, harbor, or shield from detection, such [illegal] alien in any place, including any building or any means of transportation.”
Even more relevant to the actions of Romero and Grijalva is 18 U.S. Code § 111, which penalizes one who “forcibly assaults, resists, opposes, impedes, intimidates, or interferes with any person designated in section 1114 of this title while engaged in or on account of the performance of official duties,” including immigration enforcement. Romero last week vowed to protect illegal aliens from federal immigration enforcement.
Regina Romero is a disgrace.
