Nine million dollars can buy a lot of things. But can you guess how 42 school districts across 11 states spent their money?
The staggering quantities of taxpayer money wasted on DEI, race-baiting, pornography, LGBTQ events, trashy books, rewriting history, and woke politics in schools is obscene, and could do so much toward hiring more and better teachers, providing better curricula, and other necessities. A new report from Defending Education highlights this fact.
Between 2014 to 2025, Defending Education found, 42 school districts across seven states dished out a staggering $9,203,419.75 on consultants for “equitable grading professional development.” Whatever the heck that means.
Equitable assessments, equitable grading (or grading for equity), or sometimes called anti-racist assessment has become a popular grading framework that seeks to address “inequities” and “bias” in education. In doing so, it incorporates “accuracy,” “bias-resistance” and “motivation.”
The goals for equitable grading include eliminating achievement gaps and increasing graduation rates. It is rooted in the belief that all inequitable outcomes are the result of implicit and systemic bias (for example, white supremacy) and creates barriers to success for minority and low-income students.
One example Defending Education gave was Modesto City Schools (in California), which spent over $4.2 million on professional development that includes “equitable grading practices,” out of which $3.9 million was federal funds.

The reality is that schools spend vast amounts of money on idiotic things such as Pride Month decor, Ibram X. Kendi books, and pointless teacher conferences, while their students’ grades get lower and lower, their teachers become less competent or leave altogether, and the curriculum grows woker and less educational all the time.
This is not by accident; it is by design. Marxists want young people barely literate enough to read TikTok video captions and Democrat campaign ads, and just indoctrinated enough to hate their own country and anyone who doesn’t look like them, but most certainly not fitted for any free-thinking citizenship duties in a republic, or capable of exercising useful skills in the job market. The educational establishment is fully committed to ruining as many young people as they possibly can, mentally, morally, and politically.
The Founding Fathers had a vision which was probably best fleshed out by Booker T. Washington, where American youth would be able to build tables, sew shirts, cook dinners, build houses, and exercise other manual labor skills, while simultaneously having a solid working knowledge of history, great literature, philosophy, Judeo-Christian religion, mathematics, and science.
The problem is not that school districts don’t have enough money. For the most part, they have plenty of money, they just spend it on the wrong things. They have no incentive to educate the children well and spend the money wisely, because there will always be more money, regardless of their bad decision-making. That is why all federal funds should stop going to schools until they reform, and states with Republican governors should also cut off state funds from the worst schools until they can work out a plan for providing education instead of indoctrination.
If all a school is teaching kids is that skin color defines you, pornography is elementary age-appropriate, and America was founded when the slaves first arrived, then the children are better off not attending that school at all.
