Why Trump Should Support an Abortion Pill Ban

The Trump administration’s Department of Justice filed a motion this week to dismiss a lawsuit brought against the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for not properly regulating the deadly and damaging abortion pill mifepristone. Not only do abortion pills always murder babies, but they can also seriously injure women. It’s long past time for Republicans to expose the truth about abortion’s harms instead of compromising with this evil.

Just to give a little numerical context on abortion, the Ku Klux Klan killed over 3,400 black Americans, a sobering statistic. But as of 2021, abortion had killed an estimated 22 million black Americans. Overall, more than 63 million babies were killed in abortions between Roe v. Wade’s issuance and its overturning. Read those statistics again and ask yourself why we now have a population crisis, a moral crisis, and a relationship crisis in this nation.

Surgical abortion dismembers, beheads, or otherwise gruesomely rips up unborn babies. Abortion pills starve babies to death, and between 4% and 7% of women who take the pills experience serious side effects like heavy bleeding. Can we stand in judgment on Islamic jihadis, Communist mass murderers, and pagan death cults?

No doubt that Donald Trump, or rather his DoJ, thinks it is doing the “pragmatic” thing by defending abortion pills, but pragmatism does not ever justify murder and moral evil. Nor will it accomplish anything but further entrenching Democrats’ propaganda on abortion “benefits” (which don’t exist). If our Founding Fathers had been “pragmatic” about British tyranny, this country would never have existed, and if the apostles had been “pragmatic” about the faith, Christianity would’ve died with Jesus.

Trump has been praised as the most pro-life president, and his previous record has justified that and contributed to a landslide election victory in 2024. LifeNews says Trump indicated concern that the Biden administration did not properly regulate abortion pills, so why on earth would his DoJ undermine his pro-life stance now? The majority of Americans consider themselves pro-life, and if they had all the facts, they would probably be more pro-life still.

The only truly great deeds and philosophical revolutions in this world are accomplished by those who accept no compromise and defend the truth no matter how unpopular, who are Winston Churchills and U.S. Grants instead of Neville Chamberlains. That seems so obvious from history that it ought not to require a defense, yet somehow it does. If an unborn baby is fully human from the moment of conception — and science has proven beyond the shadow of a doubt that is true — then there’s never any reason for abortion. Only Nazis and Communist dictators kill innocents for pragmatic purposes. Oh, and American Republicans…

How did Democrats take over nearly every institution and retain such a tight grip that even a major Democrat election defeat cannot seem to dislodge them from bureaucracy and universities in any significant way? How did Americans go in a couple of generations from being pro-life and anti-homosexuality to being pro-abortion and pro-homosexuality? Because Democrats never accept any compromise on their twisted beliefs. They hammer them into people’s brains until everyone just accepts them.

Meanwhile, Republicans too often simply watch from the sidelines and accept the new status quo that the Democrats hand them. By claiming to be somewhat less radical on abortion, LGBTQ ideology, and other issues, we congratulate ourselves for being the champions of morality. But are we really?

Abortion not only always kills a unique human being, but it is also harmful to women, putting them at a much higher risk of depression, self-harm, and suicide, among other risks. Two women recently died in Georgia after taking abortion pills. As Live Action previously reported:

The FDA’s medication guide for the drug acknowledges that as many as seven percent (7%) of women who take mifepristone will need surgery after “to stop bleeding” or to complete the abortion.

According to Human Life International in 2022, “nearly 80% of rape victims who had an abortion later regretted their decision. By contrast, more than 80% of women who did not abort after rape were happy that they had continued the pregnancy.” Furthermore, abortion is never necessary to save the mother’s life.

There is no possible reason, pragmatic, scientific, or moral, to justify any abortion. The Founding Fathers opposed abortion, and we should follow their example in this, as in so much else, giving women the truth about abortion and the help they need to choose life instead of a death-dealing pill.
