If you’ve been using Facebook, Twitter, or a smartphone running Android, you may have noticed the latest emojis have been shuffled into your platform of choice. Don’t worry if your smartphone doesn’t have them yet: your broccoli, hedgehog, orange heart, and pretzel emojis are on the way!

Unicode is the industry standard for creating the code used by your device to recognize and display various emojis. Unicode 10 is the most recent release, and it included a large list of interesting symbols that are now a part of the ever-expanding modern-day hieroglyphics we call emojis.
Apple has confirmed the new emojis from the Unicode 10 update would be arriving on Apple devices later this year. https://t.co/Ym66DuNCLI pic.twitter.com/VV9SV2G9Oa

Apple has recently noted that their devices will be updated to include the newest emoji characters introduced in Unicode 10 this fall, and Microsoft is currently allowing users in their preview program to play with the latest batch before the update is released for all Windows devices soon.
Unicode 10 brought in a few fun additions to the emoji family, and my personal favorites from this group include the T-Rex, sandwich, and vampire. Even though emoji fans are counting down the days until they can text a puking smiley face, zebra, brain, gloves, or zombie from their preferred platform, the Unicode Consortium is already trying to select the best candidates for next year’s Unicode 11 release in June 2018. There are currently 67 proposed emojis in the running, but not all of the following will be made into emojis:
Face With Glistening Eyes
Grinning Face With Letters OK As Eyes
Frowning Face With Question Marks As Eyes
Blue Face With Clenched Teeth And Icicles
