You don’t lie to the FBI, not even Queen Cacklepants:

Fox News is told agents are looking at U.S. Code 18, Section 1001, which pertains to “materially false” statements given either in writing, orally or through a third party. Violations also include pressuring a third party to conspire in a cover-up. Each felony violation is subject to five years in prison.

This phase represents an expansion of the FBI probe, which is also exploring potential violations of an Espionage Act provision relating to “gross negligence” in the handling of national defense information.

“The agents involved are under a lot of pressure and are busting a–,” an intelligence source, who was not authorized to speak on the record, told Fox News.

The section of the criminal code being explored is known as “statements or entries generally,” and can be applied when an individual makes misleading or false statements causing federal agents to expend additional resources and time.

This is serious business, and if he interferes, President Obama risks doing irreparable harm to his legacy (he’ll have one, right?) because voters are finally taking notice.

Here’s what McClatchy found in a recent poll:

A large majority of voters believe Hillary Clinton did something either unethical or illegal in her use of a private email system for government business, according to a new McClatchy-Marist Poll.

A total of 68 percent believe that what she did was wrong in one way or the other.

The biggest bloc, 40 percent, say she acted unethically, though legally. That includes large numbers of Democrats and independents.

The second biggest, 28 percent, believe she did something illegal.

The third, 27 percent, believe she did nothing wrong.

More than two-thirds of American voters believe — at the very best — that Clinton behave unethically. From there, things get worse for her.

Digging deeper into the numbers we see where her troubles begin going into the general election:

The ranks of those thinking Clinton did nothing wrong is driven by a solid number of Democrats, 49 percent, and 22 percent of independents. Only 9 percent of Republicans think she did nothing wrong.

Most likely to think she did nothing wrong: African-Americans, “strong” Democrats and liberals.

Those last three groups will already be voting for Clinton. It’s with the people she needs to win over that she polls the worst.

That’s assuming of course that she doesn’t end up in jail, which is where Hillary Clinton clearly belongs.
