Krauthammer on Ukraine, Putin, and Professor Ditherton Wiggleroom:

Sure, Obama is sympathetic to democracy. But it must come organically, from internal developments, you see. Must not be imposed by outside intervention, but develop on its own.

But Ukraine is never on its own. Not with a bear next door. American neutrality doesn’t allow an authentic Ukrainian polity to emerge. It leaves Ukraine naked to Russian pressure.

What Obama doesn’t seem to understand is that American inaction creates a vacuum. His evacuation from Iraq consigned that country to Iranian hegemony, just as Obama’s writing off Syria invited in Russia, Iran, and Hezbollah to reverse the tide of battle.

What Krauthammer failed to mention is that there was one time democracy tried to sprout “organically” in a country where it was desperately needed and just as desperately desired.

That country was Iran in 2009, and Wiggleroom sat on his hands then just as he’s doing today.

sat on his hands? More like a "long dark tee time of someone with no soul"

What outside intervention? This was the definition of a populist uprising.

And I firmly disagree with "Obama is sympathetic to democracy". He is not - he is openly hostile to it, except as a means to initially elect totalitarians who immediately dismantle said democracy.

Well, you can't organize a community democratically unless you let the community organize you - which isn't what politicians are really all about.

Has wiggleroom ever been on the right (correct) side of any issue? Even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while. This guy is wrong on everything. I often wonder how this poseur could have ever been elected and reelected. It makes me think that our whole political system is a charade and the the "leaders" are picked by other means than democratic election. How could this happen?

Obama's election and reelection are the strongest evidence that our democratic system works. If our leaders were chosen behind the scenes we'd see generally competent leaders, it takes some skill to negotiate a shadow power system. Obama's election is simply proof that the people don't care about competence.

Maybe wiggleroom is competent in the job he was "chosen" for. Could anyone else have continually stifled the economy for 5 years, presided over our credit downgrade, federalized our health-care system, diminished our stature vis-a-vis the world, set back race relations, incurred crippling debt, but I ramble on.
